        Quantum Dialogue by Using the GHZ State

        We present a quantum dialogue protocol by using the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state. In this paper, we point out that the ‘quantum dialogue’ communication scheme recently introduced by Nguyen can be eavesdropped on under an intercept-and-resend attack. We also give a revised control mode to detect this attack. Hence, within the present version two users can exchange their secret messages securely and simultaneously, and the efficiency of information transmission can be successfully increased.         Controlled Secure Direct Communication by Using GHZ Entangled State

        We present a controlled secure direct communication protocol by using Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) entangled state via swapping quantum entanglement and local unitary operations. Since messages transferred only by using local operations and a public channel after entangled states are successfully distributed, this protocol can protect the communication against a destroying-travel-qubit-type attack. This scheme can also be generalized to a multi-party controlsystem.

        Probabilistic teleportation of an arbitrary three-particle state via a partial entangled four-particle state and a three-particle GHZ state

        We propose a scheme to teleport an arbitrary and unknown three-particle state by using a nonmaximally four-particle entangled state and a non-maximally three-particle GHZ state from a sender to either one of two receivers. We show that teleportation can be successfully realized with a certain probability by performing three Bell-states measurements on the sender’s side and by introducing a Hadamard operation on the receiver’s side conditioned on an appropriate unitary transformation on the other possible receiver’s side We propose a scheme to teleport an arbitrary and unknown three-particle state by using a nonmaximally four-particle entangled state and a non-maximally three-particle GHZ state from a sender to either one of two receivers.         Theoretical Analysis on Molecular Magnetic Properties of N-Confused Porphyrins and Its Derivatives

        We have theoretically investigated the magnetic properties of N-confused porphyrin (NCP), tetraphenyl-N-confused porphyrin (TPNCP) and their substituted derivatives with O, S and Se heteroatoms (2ONCP, 2STPNCP, 2SeNCP, 2OTPNCP, etc.) by using DFT method. In the minimum energy structures of the 2OTPNCP, the two couples opposite phenyl substitutes are staggered. In the case of TPNCP, 2STPNCP and 2SeTPNCP, two phenyls being respectively close to or opposite to N-confused pyrrole are found to be pointed the same direction, whilst others are in the opposite direction. Based on the equilibrium structures, the $^1H$ chemical shifts and nucleus-independent chemical shifts (NICS) are calculated in this paper. The ${\pi}$ current density being induced by the tridimensional perpendicular magnetic field transmits the inner section of the pyrrole segments for NCP and TPNCP. As for their substituted derivatives with O, S and Se atoms, the current path passes through the outer section of the two heterorings. The NICS values at the ring critical points of the heterorings are much lower (in absolute value) than those of which is at the center of an isolated pyrrole molecule. The $^1H$ NMR for ${\beta}H$ atoms of the heterorings decreases from O, S to with Se.

        QTL mapping and identification of candidate genes for cold tolerance at the germination stage in wild rice

        Background Cold damage stress significantly affects rice growth (germination and seedling) and causes serious losses in yield in temperate and high-altitude areas around the globe. Objective This study aimed to explore the cold tolerance (CT) locus of rice and create new cold-tolerant germplasm. We constructed a chromosome segment substitution line (CSSL) with strong CT and fine mapped quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with CT by performing the whole-genome resequencing of CSSL with phenotypes under cold treatment. Methods A chromosome CSSL, including 271 lines from a cross between the cold-tolerant wild rice Y11 (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) and the cold-sensitive rice variety GH998, was developed to map QTLs conferring CT at the germination stage. The whole-genome resequencing was performed on CSSL for mapping QTLs of associated with CT at the germination stage. Results A high-density linkage map of the CSSLs was developed using the whole-genome resequencing of 1484 bins. The QTL analysis using 615,466 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) led to the identification of 2 QTLs related to germination rate at low-temperature on chromosome 8 (qCTG-8) and chromosome 11 (qCTG-11). The qCTG-8 and qCTG-11 explained 14.55% and 14.31% of the total phenotypic variation, respectively. We narrowed down qCTG-8 and qCTG-11 to 195.5 and 78.83-kb regions, respectively. The expression patterns of important candidate genes in different tissues, and of RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) in CSSLs, were identified based on gene sequences in qCTG-8 and qCTG-11 cold-induced expression analysis. LOC_Os08g01120 and LOC_Os08g01390 were identified as candidate genes in qCTG-8, and LOC_Os11g32880 was identified as a candidate gene in qCTG-11. Conclusions This study demonstrated a general method that could be used to identify useful loci and genes in wild rice and aid in the future cloning of candidate genes of qCTG-8 and qCTG-11. The CSSLs with strong CT were supported for breeding cold-tolerant rice varieties.

        Purification and Characterization of an Acid Deoxyribonuclease from the Cultured Mycelia of Cordyceps sinensis

        A new acid deoxyribonuclease (DNase) was purified from the cultured mycelia of Cordyceps sinensis, and designated CSDNase. CSDNase was purified by (NH₄)₂SO₄ precipitation, Sephacryl S-100 HR gel filtration, weak anion-exchange HPLC, and gel filtration HPLC. The protein was single-chained, with an apparent molecular mass of ca. 34 kDa, as revealed by SDS-PAGE, and an isoelectric point of 7.05, as estimated by isoelectric focusing. CSDNase acted on both double-stranded (ds) and single- stranded (ss) DNA, but preferentially on dsDNA. The optimum pH of CSDNase was pH 5.5 and its optimum temperature 55. The activity of CSDNase was not dependent on divalent cations, but its enzymic activity was inhibited by high concentration of the cation: MgC1₂ above 150 mM, MnCl₂ above 200 mM, ZnCl₂ above 150 mM, CaCl₂ above 200 mM, NaCl above 300 mM, and KCI above 300 mM. CSDNase was found to hydrolyze DNA, and to generate 3-phosphate and 5-OH termini. These results indicate that the nucleolytic properties of CSDNase are essentially the same as those of other well-characterized acid DNases, and that CSDNase is a member of the acid DNase family. To our knowledge, this is the first report of an acid DNase in a fungus.
