부모의 양성평등의식이 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Parents’ Awareness of Gender-equity on Young Children’s Sex-role Stereotype

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine how the gender-equity awareness of parents affects the sex-role stereotype of their young children. The subjects in this study were 198 young children and their parents at a public kindergarten in the City of Incheon. The findings of the study were as follows:
First, concerning the relationship of the background variables of the mothers and their awareness of gender equity, gender-equity awareness of mothers varied with their education and occupation. The better-educated mothers took a better awareness of socio-cultural and general gender equity, and the working mothers excelled the stay-at-home mothers in home-related gender-equity awareness.
Second, gender-equity awareness of fathers differed with their education. The fathers who received higher education outstripped those who received high-school or less education in socio-cultural gender-equity awareness.
Third, as to the influence of the gender-equity awareness of parents on the sex-role stereotype of the young children, the socio-cultural gender-equity awareness of mothers had a statistically significant effect on the sex-role stereotype of their young children, but the gender-equity awareness of fathers exercised no statistically significant effect.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부모의 양성평등의식이 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 분석하였는데 본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양성평등의식은 어머니의 학력과 직업 유무별로 차이를 보였으며, 어머니가 아버지보다 양성평등의식이 높았다. 둘째, 어머니 연령이 34세 이하인 유아와 어머니가 직업이 없는 유아가 다른 유아보다 성역할 고정관념이 높음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 어머니의 사회문화생활에서의 양성평등의식은 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치나, 아버지의 양성평등의식은 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
