아버지의 양육태도, 학령기 여아의 성역할 고정관념 및 내적동기가 여아의 유능성에 미치는 영향 = Fathers’ Parenting Attitudes Predicting Girls’ Levels of Competence: Gender-Role Stereotypes and Internal Motivation as Mediators

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the paths in which fathers’ parenting attitudes influence their daughters’ competence levels through girls’ gender-role stereotypes and internal motivation. Data were collected via questionnaires from 314 Korean elementary school girls (M age=10.90 yrs.) and their school grades. The results of this study were as follows: Perceived fathers’ positive parenting attitudes such as affection, autonomy, achievement-encouraging, and reasoning were found to indirectly influence the girls’ competence through girls’ gender-role stereotypes and internal motivation. The current study confirms the importance of a fathers’ parenting as a means of developing their daughters’ competence such as academic achievement, leadership and assertive behavior. These findings also suggest that fathers’ attitudes oriented to affection, autonomy, achievement and reasoning mostly encourage their daughters to become more competent by facilitating their daughters’ flexible gender-role stereotypes and increasing their levels of motivation
