고등학생 딸의 성취동기 및 학업성취도와 아버지 특성과의 관계 : 농촌과 중소도시 지역의 비교연구 = Relations between father's character and high school daughter's achievement motivation and academic achievement : comparison between rural community and small-medium-sized city

This study was to find relations between father's childrearing attitude & expectation of academic achievement that his daughter perceived and her achievement motivation & academic achievement in rural community and small-medium-sized city respectively.

365 female second-grade high schoolers living in North area of North Gyung Sang province were surveyed by questionnaires.
For data process, Frequency analysis in order to understand social- demographic factors that affected fathers' attitude was used. Also, Correlation analysis was implemented to understand relations between individual factors.
The main results were as follows : Father's social demographic factors were significantly related to their daughter's achievement motivation and achievement motivation. Family's income was significantly related to their daughter's achievement motivation and academic achievement in rural community. But father's academic level was significantly related to their daughter's achievement motivation in only small-medium-sized city
The more fathers had affectional attitude, the more their daughters had achievement motivation in both rural community and small-medium-sized city. The more fathers had non-achievement oriented attitude, the less their daughters had achievement motivation in only small-medium-sized city. But daughter's academic achievement was significantly related to father's affectional attitude and non-achievement oriented attitude in only rural community.
In addition, the more fathers had supportive expectation in education to their daughters, the more their daughters had achievement motivation and academic achievement in both rural community and small-medium-sized city.
Given the fact that Father's child-rearing attitude & expectation of academic achievement had significant relations with daughter's achievement motivation & academic achievement, fathers' supportive attitude in their daughters' education are essential
