노년의 4대 고통이 심리적 요인을 매개로 자살생각에 이르는 경로모형

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 빈곤, 질병, 역할상실, 고독으로 구성된 노인의 4대 고통이 절망과 우울을 매개로 자살생각에 이르는 경로모형을 검증했다. 연구를 위해서 J시에 산재하며, 집락표집형태로 선정된 16개 경로당에서 이용노인을 편의 추출하였다. 회수된 설문지 309사례 중에 분석요건을 갖춘 291사례를 대상으로 빈도분석, 요인분석, 신뢰도분석, 타당도분석, 구조방정식을 이용한 경로모형분석을 실시했다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인고통의 약 93%를 차지하는 4대 고통을 구성하는 빈곤, 질병, 역할상실, 고독은 상호작용하면서, 절망과 우울에 영향을 미치는 것이 검증되었다. 둘째, 고통은 절망과 우울을 매개로 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 것이 확인되었다. 주목할 점은 빈곤은 절망에 간접적으로 영향을 미치며, 절망은 우울을 매개로 자살생각에 영향을 미친다는 것이다. 연구결과는 노인복지를 실천하는 사회복지사가 노인의 자살에 개입할 때, 절망과 우울 뿐 아니라 이들에 영향을 미치는 빈곤, 질병, 역할상실, 고독을 고려해야 하며, 검증된 경로모형은 노인자살의 선행변수들이 어떤 개념적 구조를 가지고 있는지 제시했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study empirically confirmed a path model that Korean elder`s four major pains consisted of poverty, disease, role loss, loneliness dominated suicidal thoughts mediated by hopelessness and depression. To investigate the model, we purposively collected 309 samples from 16 Gyungrodangs evenly located in J-city and 291 samples, survived the data cleaning such as missing values, outliers, normality and covariance conditions, were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, reliability and path model analysis. Followed were the selected contributions. First, each of four major pains, that is, about 93% of Korean elder`s pain, influenced the others and, even worse, aggravated psychological aspects such as hopelessness and depression. Second, the pains eventually dominated the suicidal thought mediated by hopelessness and depression. Note that poverty was not direct but indirect predictor of depression, and also hopelessness was not direct but indirect predictor of suicidal thought. Conclusively, the present study confirmed a conceptual framework that social workers practicing in the area of the elderly care should consider the four major pains as well as hopelessness and depression while intervening in the elderly`s suicidal thought.
