노인의 자살생각 유발요인과 사회적 지지의 중재효과 연구 = (A) Study on the Motivation Factors of Elderly's Sucidal Thoughts, Mediation Effect of Social Support

As the human population of the aged grows larger, korean society is resulting in the negative social problems on the aged and society. The aged suicide is one of them. Increasing of the number of the aged suicide is so fast that is must make sure of the important social problem.
The purpose of this study was to examine on the motivation factors of elderly suicidal thoughts and to investigate buffer effect of social support on the relation. The participants of this study were 203 elderly people who were convenient sampling form the elderly make use of social welfare organization, residents in Jin Ju city.
The results of this study are as follows ;
First, it was found that high self-esteem, family cohesion and low ageism are led to a lower suicidal thoughts.
Second, elderly suicidal thoughts are related to buffer effect of social support. Therefore, family, social and environment are social problem that have influence directly or indirectly on elderly suicidal thoughts.
The measures of preventing suicide is necessary in the suicidal elderly. It is one of the social work methods which mobilizes the community resources. So it can be a effective methodology to meet the problems of the aged suicide.
In conclusion, social support, enhance the will to live and keep mental-health to elderly is effective social intervention. So demanded a lot of efforts about social welfare.
