유아의 문제행동과 관련된 부모면담에 대한 유아교사들의 인식과 경험 = Early childhood teachers` perceptions of parent-teacher conferences regarding children`s behavioral problems

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines early childhood teachers` perceptions of the need for parent-teacher conferences regarding children`s behavior problems, response types of the parents, and difficulties experienced during such conferences. In-depth interviews conducted with 10 early childhood teachers reveal that teachers think parent-teacher conferences are necessary when children demonstrate adjustment problems, peer relationship difficulties, communication problems, or aggressive behaviors toward peers. Teachers find that some parents accept their child`s problem and collaborate with teachers to find appropriate ways to guide the child`s behavior but others do not acknowledge a problem or ignore it. Teachers agreed that parent collaboration is important in guiding children`s behavior problems so they are discouraged when parents view collaboration as a sort of psychological warfare demeaning to themselves and/or their child. Teachers also feel that they lack knowledge and skills in leading conferences on such sensitive issues. Differing parenting styles occasionally presented difficulties for the teachers and they suggested that they would benefit from knowledge of a variety of individual parenting characteristics so that they could plan or respond to conferences accordingly.
