In the agency of early childhood education, necessity of the interview with parents has admitted as a significant method of education for parents in that it gives parents opportunity to collect important information about infants and gives them many chances to control child with teachers cooperatively. As a result, the purpose of this study is to present basic data that can make effective interview with parents, inspecting recognition of teacher and parent toward it, which is taking place in current agencies.
To attain this, following are the matters to question:
1. How is the recognition of teacher about interview with parent in agency of early childhood education?
1-l. How is the recognition of teacher about necessity, scheme, material, content, and procedure of interview with parent in agency ?
1-2. How is the recognition of teacher regarding training for teacher, problem, and portion of improvement for interview with parent in agency ?
1-3. What difference does the recognition about interview with parent show by usual background of teacher?
2. How is the recognition of parent about interview with parent in agency of early childhood education?
2-1. How is the recognition about necessity, scheme, preparation, data, and content for interview with parent in agency ?
2-2. How is the rate of parent's satisfaction of interview with parent in agency ?
The subjects of this study are 22 public-private kindergartens, 27 public nurseries, 25 private nurseries, 1 nursery in work place, 2 nurseries in home, 1 academy of art, 1 gymnasium, 151 teachers who are working, and 284 parent who have child partake in agency.
The tool which was used for this study was question sheets for parent and teacher, which questioned about recognition regarding interview, depending on "research for interview with parent of kindergarten", written by Hyang Sook, Hwang, in 1990, and "kindergarten individual interview's present condition and demand of teacher and parent", written by Hyun Joo, Hwan, in 2003.
To fulfill this study, materials related to this research was tested by SPSS WIN 12.0, statics program, executing method of "frequency analysis" and "χ2"
The findings of this study are summarized as follows:
First, In agency of early childhood education, interview with parent appeared to be exactly necessary(99.3%) and individual interview appeared to be used well as type of interview with parent. However, when executing interview, teacher had to have hard time because of tremendous tasks and physical depression. Most teachers responded that teacher need to learn about education related to interview. Nevertheless, teachers appeared not to learn enough. The hardest problem of interview was to control time to meet parent and the point for improvement was to be active to education for teacher.
In the question related to asking whether teachers had learned about interview with parent or not, respondents showed the meaningful difference in age and status of teachers, on top of that, in the questions asking the necessity of teacher training and the necessity section regarding it, they also showed the meaningful distinction by experience of teaching.
Second, the parents appeared to largely recognize the necessity of interview with parent in parent's recognition about it to agency of early childhood education.(96.8%) The reason for interview appeared to be that purpose for giving information about infants to teacher was the biggest one.(54.6%) The parents who responded to the question related to satisfaction about interview were 183 person, but they indicated degree of satisfaction not highly. The reason why they was satisfactory to interview was the most in what they could know agency's life and reason for not satisfying was the most in what the time to interview was deficient.
As a result, for effective interview with parent in institution teachers' entreaty for assistance is needed and what prepare interview also is needed, to be able to get conversation. On top of that, for parents who have no enough time, improvement of a variety of interview is strongly needed.
