다문화사회에서의 박물관교육의 역할과 방향에 대한 재개념화 = Reconceptualization of New Roles and Directions of Museum Education in Multicultural Societies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to reconceptualize the roles and meaning of museum education as an effective way to realize the idea of multicultural society. The values and functions of museums in our society seem to be increased and strengthened as our society becomes more multicultural and multiethnic. For this phenomena, this research critically reviewed the old roles and conceptions of museum and museum education, and attempted to identify its new roles and directions. Based on the literature reviews and analysis, four new roles of museums in our multicultural society were identified as follows: (1) exhibitions of multicultural identies and objects; (2) deconstructive space on power and ideologies; (3) advocacy of marginalized groups, and peoples; (4) space for social integration. These four new conceptions on roles of museums are believed to contribute to the more developed understanding on our museumsand related activities to educate our young students and to integrate our society.
