가상박물관을 활용한 다문화교육 수업 사례 연구 : 학습자의 다문화 인식 변화를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1990년대 중반 이후 국제결혼과 외국인 근로자의 수가 급속하게 증가하면서 우리사회는 다인종, 다문화사회로 진입하고 있다는 진단과 함께 이에 대비할 수 있는 다문화교육에 필요성에 대한 논의가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 우리나라는 다문화교육 도입 초기임에도 불구하고 그 확산 속도가 매우 빠르며 다양한 다문화교육 정책과 프로그램들이 학교 현장에 적용되고 있다. 그러나 다문화교육의 목표와 방향, 그 대상이 명확히 정립되지 않은 상태에서 양적으로 증가하는 다문화교육은 학교현장의 혼란을 가져오고 있다.
다문화교육을 실천할 수 있는 구체적 방안의 하나로서 가상박물관을 활용한 학교에서의 다문화교육을 생각해볼 수 있다. 가상박물관은 기존 박물관의 물리적 거리를 뛰어넘어 다양한 문화적 맥락의 전시물을 활용한 학습이 가능하기 때문이다. 따라서 가상박물관의 교육적 가치를 분석하고 가상박물관이 어떻게 다문화교육에 활용될 수 있을지에 대한 논의와 더불어 이를 실제 학교수업과 연계하여 활용할 수 있는 구체적인 지도차시를 개발, 적용하였다. 본 수업은 초등학교 6학년을 대상으로 2개월간 총 15차시에 걸쳐 적용되었으며, 이후 다문화 인식 설문지, 마인드맵, 수업소감문, 면담 및 관찰에 대한 분석을 통하여 다문화교육이 지향하는 정체성 확립, 다양성 이해, 차별과 편견 감소의 세 가지 요소를 중심으로 학습자의 다문화 인식 변화를 알아보았다. 이를 통해 가상박물관과 학교에서의 다문화교육을 연계한 수업으로서의 가능성을 지니고 있음을 확인해보고자 하였다.
수업 결과, 가상박물관의 다양한 정보와 자료를 통해 학습자는 문화의 다양성을 이해하고 다른 문화를 존중하고 편견 없이 수용하려는 태도를 갖고 다양한 문화 속에서 한국문화를 이해하면서 한국인으로서의 정체성 확립에도 기여하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 다문화교육에 있어 가상박물관의 활용이 학생들의 다문화 인식 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 끼쳤음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 본 수업이 궁극적으로 추구하는 다문화교육의 목표가 달성되었음을 확인할 수 있었고 이를 바탕으로 가상박물관을 활용한 다문화교육이 나아갈 방향을 위한 실천적 사례를 제공하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As international marriage and number of foreign workers rapidly increase since the middle of 1990s, the necessity of multicultural education is being actively discussed with the diagnosis that our society is entering into multiracial and multicultural society. Though our country is in the early stage for multicultural education, its speed of spreading is very rapid and various multicultural education policy and programs are being applied to school. But multicultural education showing quantitative increase without its clear establishment of goal, direction, and object is bring confusion in school.
As a solution to implement multicultural education, multicultural education utilizing virtual museum is suggested, because through virtual museum, learning using exhibited collection in various cultural context beyond physical distance of existing museum is possible. Accordingly, this research analyzed educational value of virtual museum and discussed how virtual museum can be utilized in multicultural education. And specific lesson plan which can be used in school class was developed and applied. The research was conducted with elementary students in sixth grade for two months, 15 times. After that, analysis of questionnaire sheet about cultural recognition, Mind map, comments on lesson, interview, and observation were conducted to know change in recognition of learners focused on three factors such as establishment of identity which multicultural education is directed to, understanding of pluralism, and reduction of discrimination and prejudice. Through this, it was tried to identify that the multicultural education in school connected to virtual museum is possible.
As a result of teaching, it was identified that the learners who contacted various information and material of virtual museum understood and respected different cultures, had an attitude to accept the cultures without prejudice, understood Korean culture among various cultures, and contribute to establishment of identity as a Korean. And it was known that utilization of virtual museum in multicultural education positively influenced on change of recognition in multi-culture for students. Accordingly, it was identified that the goal of multicultural education which this lesson eventually pursued was accomplished. Based on this result, this research provided a practical case for the future direction of multicultural education utilizing virtual museum.
