청소년기의 자아정체감에 영향을 미치는 관련변인 간의 구조분석

The Purpose of this study was to examine how family economical environment factor, psychological environment factor, school environment factors were related to adolescents' ego-identity, how self-enhancement and psychological well-being as the mediator factors affect it, and what process was involved. Related theories and previous studies were reviewed, and a structural equation model was established. This model had been verified by empirical data.
Specific research issues follow. First, the relationship between the economical, psychological environment of the family factors, school environmental factors and ego-identity was researched. Second, the correlation and influence between family psychological factors, school environmental factors and adolescents' self-enhancement and psychological well-being were evaluated. Third, the correlation and influence between self-enhancement and psychological well-being were assessed. Fourth, the correlation among factors such as adolescents' self-enhancement and psychological well-being factors and their influence were examined. Fifth, the correlation among all factors and their influence were examined by the developmental stages in adolescence.
A theoretical model was postulated by doing an exploratory research into the literature related to the relationship and influence of adolescents' family economical and psychological factors, school environment factor, mediator variables of their self-enhancement and psychological well-being. To verify the model, a self-report surveyed on 304 male and female middle school students, 316 high school students and 316 university students who were residing in Taegu Metropolitan City. To statistically process the collected data, SPSS win 15.0 and AMOS 7.0 were used, and an analysis of the structural equation model was done to verify the model.
The results of this research were as follows.
First, the fact that family psychological environment and school environment factor affected ego-identity in a direct and indirect way, and the economical environment factor did in an indirect way had been verified with significance.
Second, the fact that the correlation and influence between family economical environment factor, psychological factor, school environmental factor and adolescents' self-enhancement and psychological well-being affected in a direct and indirect way had been verified significantly.
Third, the fact that the correlation between self-enhancement and psychological well-being also affected had been verified with significance.
Fourth, the fact that the correlation among variables such as adolescents' self-enhancement, psychological well-being and ego-identity affected had been verified with significance.
Fifth, the difference among variables such as ego-identity by the developmental stages in adolescence had been verified significantly, which affected widely in an order of the university students, high school students and middle school students.
Considering the results of this research, variables such as ego-identity in adolescence and significant relation with it are family economical environment factors, psychological environment factor, and school environment factor. And we can say that family psychological environment factor, and school environment factor among these exogenous variables converge into self-enhancement in the mediatory process, whereas economical environment factor has a higher explanatory power on ego-identity through an indirect channel of psychological well-being variable.
In other words, we can find that self-enhancement and psychological well -being as mediator variable play an important role. Therefore, this study verified the relation and influence of variables by checking the integrated and structural relation between cause and effect, whereas the previous studies verified the influence of mere correlation between variables.
Considering the results of this research, it is suggested that environmental variables such as family, school etc. and psychological characters such as self-enhancement, psychological well-being etc. should be considered simultaneously, in comprehending the formative development of ego-identity in adolescence.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년기의 자아정체감과 관련된 가정의 경제적 환경, 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경 변인과 그것을 매개하는 심리적 특성인 자기고양감과 안녕감 변인들이 어떠한 구조적 관계와 영향력 있는지를 규명하기 위한 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 관련 이론과 선행연구들을 종합적으로 검토하여 설정한 구조적 모형이 경험적 자료와 얼마나 부합하는지를 구조방정식모형 분석을 통해 검증하였다.
이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 다음과 같은 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
첫째, 가정의 경제적 환경, 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경과 자아정체감 변인 간의 관계와 영향력, 둘째, 가정의 경제적 환경, 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경과 자기고양감, 안녕감 변인들 간의 관계와 영향력, 셋째, 청소년의 자기고양감과 안녕감 변인들 간의 관계와 영향력, 넷째, 청소년의 자기고양감, 안녕감 변인들과 자아정체감 변인 간의 관계와 영향력, 다섯째, 청소년기의 발달 단계별 관계와 영향력은 어떠한가를 살펴보았다.
본 연구의 대상은 대구광역시에 거주하는 중학생 304명, 고등학생 316명, 대학생 322명의 남·여 학생들 942명으로 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료의 통계처리는 SPSS 15.0과 AMOS 7.0 프로그램이 각각 사용되었고, 모델검증을 위해서 구조방정식모형 분석을 실시하였다.
본 연구의 결과를 연구 문제별로 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 가정의 심리적 환경과 학교환경은 직·간접적인 효과로, 가정의 경제적 환경은 간접 효과로 자아정체감과 유의미하게 나타났다.
둘째, 가정의 경제적 환경, 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경과 자기고양감, 안녕감 간에는 직·간접적인 효과로 유의미한 관계가 나타났다.
셋째, 자기고양감과 안녕감과의 관계도 유의미하게 나타났다.
넷째, 자기고양감, 안녕감과 자아정체감 변인 간에도 유의미하게 나타났다.
다섯째, 청소년기의 발달 단계별 차이검증 결과 청소년기의 발달 단계별로 자아정체감 변인 간의 차이가 유의미하게 나타났고, 그 차이는 대학생, 고등학생, 중학생 순으로 크게 나타났다.
이와 같은 연구 결과로 볼 때, 청소년기의 자아정체감과 중요한 관계를 지니는 변인으로는 가정의 경제적 환경, 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경이다. 그리고 이 외생변인들 중 가정의 심리적 환경, 학교환경이 정체감 교섭단계에서 자기고양감으로 집중되고, 가정의 경제적 환경은 안녕감 변인의 간접경로를 통하여, 자아정체감에 대해 보다 높은 설명력을 지닌다고 말할 수 있다.
즉 매개변인인 자기고양감과 안녕감이 중요한 기능을 수행함을 알 수 있다. 따라서 선행연구에서는 변인들 간의 단순한 관계의 영향력만을 확인할 수 있었는데, 본 연구에서는 변인들 간의 통합적이며 구조적인 인과관계를 살펴봄으로써 그 관계와 영향력을 규명할 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과로 볼 때 청소년기의 자아정체감의 형성 발달을 이해하는 데 가정과 학교 등 환경적 변인들과 자기고양감, 안녕감 등 심리적 특성이 함께 고려되어야 함을 시사해 준다.
