The measured solar absorptance and spectral emittance of the nickel black and chrome black coatings prepared by lectroplating at various plating current densities were reported. The cyclic heating and cooling technique was mployed for the absorptance measurement of these coatings. The nickel black coating with α=0.87 and ε(100℃)=0.25 was obtained by plating at 30℃ for 5minutes with the current density of 0.1A/dm². Where as the best chrome black coating with α=0.89 and ε(100℃)=0.21 was achieved by plating at 20℃ for one minute with the current density of 100A/dm². Accelerated humidiry and themal durabilitys test result on these coatings was also reported.

강탄성 BiVO₄분말은 고상반응시켜서 제작하였으며, 원료 분말의 화학 반응 상태는 X-ray 회절 방법으로 확인했다. Czochralski 방법에 의하여 이 물질의 단결정을 육성하였으며 상전이점은 유전 상수의 온도 변화에 의하여 조사되었다. Ferroelastic BiVO₄has been synthesized through the conventional solid state reaction technique. Its phase and reaction mechanism are investigated by the X-ray diffraction method. The single crystals of BiVO₄have been grown by Czochralski method along with the optimum conditions. The phase transition of BiVO₄was observed through the temperature dependent dielectric constant measurements.

A boule of BiVO₄single crystal was grown by Czochralski technique and annealed for 24 hours at 500℃. The Laue and conoscopic image techinques were used to determine the crystallographic axes of BiVO₄single crystal. The Raman spectrum of c(bb)□□ geometry of monoclinic BiVO₄was obtained and the A_(g) symmetry mode appearing at 56cm^(-)¹ at room temperature was softened as the temperature approached to the ferroelastic-paraelastic phase transition point(255℃). The disappearing of soft A_(g) mode at phase transition temperature indicates that it is closely related to the ferroelastic strain which controlles the phase transition, i.e., ferroelastic-paraelastic phase transition in BiVO₄.
Lithium Niobate(LiNbO₃) 단결정의 경도에 관한 연구

순수한 LiNbO3 단결정과 불순물 (Ti,Fe,Cr)을 첨가한 단결정의 X, Y, Z-면에 따른 경도를 Vickers 경도계로서 측정하였다. 본 실험에서 측정한, 순수한 이단결정의 Vickers 경도값 588.87 Kgf-mm^(-)²은, mohs경도치로 환산하면 5.5이다. 이 값은 Mohs 경도치 (H)와 bond-ionicity(α)와의 관계식 H=K(1-⅔α⁴)에 의한 계산치 5.3에 아주 가깝다. 또한 측정한 경도값들을 보면, 불순물을 첨가한 것이 순수한 것보다 그 값이 더 컸으며, 불순물 첨가에 관계없이 Z-positive, Y-positive, X, Z-negative, Y-negative면의 순으로 그 경도 값이 작아졌다. The hardness of LiNbO₃single crystal has been studied both theoretically and experimentally. Theoretical approach to the hardness of LiNbO₃ single crystal constitutes the application of an empirical relation,H=K(1-⅔α⁴)derived between the smoothed Mohs hardness value H and the bondionicity α. The calculated H-scale of LiNbO₃is theoretically 5.3 The experimental methods consist of micro Vicker hardness measurement and the chemical etching. The hardness measurements are made on x, y, and z-planes of pure and transition elements(Ti, Fe, and Cr) doped LiNbO₃single crystals. The average indentation hardness value of LiNbO₃single crystals is 588.87 kgf.mm^(-)². The chemical etching method is utilized to trace the relationship between etching rate and hardness on x, y, and z-planes of LiNbO₃single crystal.
Binding Energy of Oxigen and Methane Adsorbed on Bundles of Open-Ended Single-Wall Carbon Nanotubes

The adsorption of oxygen and methane on the bundles of open-ended single wall carbon nanotube(SWNT) was studied using the volumetric adsorption qst was obtained from the adsorption isotherm measurements performed at different temperatures. The trend in the values of the methane isosteric heat of adsorption showed three regions, representative of the adsorption on the different types of adsorption sites. In case of oxygen, on the other hand, such distinguishable regions were not appeared in the N-qst graph. From the results of qst the binding energies of oxygen and methane adsorbed on open-ended SWITs were estimated.
SrBi2Nb2O9-Li2B4O7 비정질에서의 Fluorite 상 형성 연구

다양한 성분비의 비정질 (1-x)Li2B4O7-xSrBi2Nb2O9 (x=0.15, 0.25, 0.35)을 극판냉각 방법으로 제조하였고, 열적, 구조적 조사를 통하여 결정화 과정을 연구하였다. (1-x)Li2B4O7-xSrBi2Nb2O9 혼합 비정질은 결정화 초기에 나노 크기의 SrBi2Nb2O9(SBN) fluorite 상이 형성되는 것이 관찰되었다. 이 물질은 최종 상인 Li2B4O7(LBO)와 Bi-Layered SBN으로 결정화된다. SBN의 함량이 증가할 수록 비정질 형성능력이 떨어지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. LBO의 함량이 감소할수록 SBN fluorite 상 형성의 활성화 에너지가 증가하는 것으로 볼 때, LBO가 SBN의 결정화 과정에 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

The CrO2 thin films grown on (111) Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si subctrate were (200) oriented and highly crystallized rectangular grains were observed. On the other hand, grown on (200) Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate, the CrO2 thin films were (110) oriented and wedge-shaped grains were observed. To study the orientation dependence of magnetic properties of CrO2 films, we observed ferromagnetic force microscope at room temperature and measured orientational dependence of magnetization using a SQUID magnetometer.
Photoacoustic Determination of Absorptance and Emittance of Solar Selective Coatings

A new approach to the study of the radition characteristics of solar seletive coatings is reported. When chopped light impinges on a solid in an enclosed cell, an acoustic signal is produced which can be detected by a sensitive microphone. This paper reports on the design and performance haracteristics of such a photoacoustic spectrometer suitable for recording absorptance and emittance spectra of solar coatings. The dependence of the photoacoustic signal on various experimental parameters is explored and the usefulness and limitations of photoacoustically spectrometry in determining the absorptance and emittance of prepared samples has been established. For comprison, absorptance spectra obtained by the photoacoustic technique and by conventional Gjer Dunkle reflectiometer are reported. A calibration procedure for the photoacoustically determined absorptance and emittance data is also discussed.
