Power Current Control of a Resonant Vibratory Conveyor Having Electromagnetic Drive

        ?eljko V. Despotovi?,Aleksandar I. Ribi?,Vladimir M. ?inik 전력전자학회 2012 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.12 No.4

The vibratory conveyors with electromagnetic drive are used for performing gravimetric flow of granular materials in processing industry. By realizing free vibrations of variable intensity and frequency over a wide range through application of the electromagnetic actuator, suitable power converter, and the corresponding controller, continuous conveyance of granular materials have been provided for various operating conditions. Standard power output stages intended for control of vibratory conveyance using thyristors and triacs. Phase angle control can only accomplish tuning of amplitude oscillations, but oscillation frequency cannot be adjusted by these converters. Application of current controlled transistor converters enables accomplishing the amplitude and/or frequency control. Their use implies the excitation of a vibratory conveyor independent of the supply network frequency. In addition, the frequency control ensures operation in the region of mechanical resonance. Operation in this region is favourable from the energy point of view, since it requires minimal energy consumption. The paper presents a possible solution and advantages of the amplitude-frequency control of vibratory conveyors by means of a current controlled power converter.

Categorial Status of Null Operator Relatives and Finite Declarative Complements

        Bosˇkovic´, Z˘eljko 서울대학교 어학연구소 1994 語學硏究 Vol.30 No.2

In this paper I examine null operator relatives and finite declarative complements that are not introduced by the complementizer that. I argue that, contrary to standard assumptions, the clauses in question have no CP projection. They are bare IPs and not CPs introduced by a null complementizer. I provide a uniform account of the IP status of the clauses in question based on the Principle of Economy of Representation.

On Mixed Clausal Coordinations: Coordinating Finite CPs, ECM and Control Infinitive

        Ž,eljko Boš,ković 현대문법학회 2018 현대문법연구 Vol.100 No.-

The goal of this paper is to examine a rather interesting paradigm involving mixed clausal coordination, where different types of clauses (finite CPs, ECM, and control infinitives) are coordinated. It will be shown that the paradigm in question has consequences for several phenomena; in particular it sheds light on the controversial issue of the proper analysis of PRO as well as the issue of whether the SpecvP where the subject is base-generated is higher or lower than the SpecvP which serves as the landing site of object shift.

Adaptive Control of Peak Current Mode Controlled Boost Converter Supplied by Fuel Cell

        Toni Bja?i?,?eljko Ban,Nedjeljko Peri? 전력전자학회 2013 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.13 No.1

Adaptive control of a peak current mode controlled (PCM) boost converter supplied by a PEM fuel cell is described in this paper. The adaptive controller with reference model and signal adaptation is developed in order to compensate the deviation of the response during the change of the operating point. The procedure for determining the adaptive algorithm’s weighting coefficients, based on a combination of the pole-zero placement method and an optimization method is proposed. After applying the proposed procedure, the optimal adaptive algorithm’s weighting coefficients can be determined in just a few iterations, without the use of a computer, thus greatly facilitating the application of the algorithm in real systems. Simulation and experimental results show that the dynamic behavior of a highly nonlinear control system with a fuel cell and a PCM boost converter, can fairly accurately be described by the dynamic behavior of the reference model, i.e., a linear system with constant parameters.

      • FORMATION AND EVOLUTION OF THE DISK SYSTEM OF THE MILKY WAY: [α/Fe] RATIOS AND KINEMATICS OF THE SEGUE G-DWARF SAMPLE

        Lee, Young Sun,Beers, Timothy C.,An, Deokkeun,Ivezić,, Ž,eljko,Just, Andreas,Rockosi, Constance M.,Morrison, Heather L.,Johnson, Jennifer A.,Schö,nrich, Ralph,Bird, Jonathan,Yanny, Brian IOP Publishing 2011 The Astrophysical journal Vol.738 No.2

<P>We employ measurements of the [alpha/Fe] ratio derived from low-resolution (R similar to 2000) spectra of 17,277 G-type dwarfs from the SEGUE survey to separate them into likely thin-and thick-disk subsamples. Both subsamples exhibit strong gradients of orbital rotational velocity with metallicity, of opposite signs, -20 to -30 km s(-1) dex(-1) for the thin-disk and + 40 to + 50 km s(-1) dex(-1) for the thick-disk population. The rotational velocity is uncorrelated with Galactocentric distance for the thin-disk subsample and exhibits a small trend for the thick-disk subsample. The rotational velocity decreases with distance from the plane for both disk components, with similar slopes (-9.0 +/- 1.0 km s(-1) kpc(-1)). Thick-disk stars exhibit a strong trend of orbital eccentricity with metallicity (about -0.2 dex(-1)), while the eccentricity does not change with metallicity for the thin-disk subsample. The eccentricity is almost independent of Galactocentric radius for the thin-disk population, while a marginal gradient of the eccentricity with radius exists for the thick-disk population. Both subsamples possess similar positive gradients of eccentricity with distance from the Galactic plane. The shapes of the eccentricity distributions for the thin-and thick-disk populations are independent of distance from the plane, and include no significant numbers of stars with eccentricity above 0.6. Among several contemporary models of disk evolution that we consider, radial migration appears to have played an important role in the evolution of the thin-disk population, but possibly less so for the thick disk, relative to the gas-rich merger or disk heating scenarios. We emphasize that more physically realistic models and simulations need to be constructed in order to carry out the detailed quantitative comparisons that our new data enable.</P>

      • THE STELLAR METALLICITY DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION OF THE GALACTIC HALO FROM SDSS PHOTOMETRY

        An, Deokkeun,Beers, Timothy C.,Johnson, Jennifer A.,Pinsonneault, Marc H.,Lee, Young Sun,Bovy, Jo,Ivezić,, Ž,eljko,Carollo, Daniela,Newby, Matthew IOP Publishing 2013 The Astrophysical journal Vol.763 No.1

<P>We explore the stellar metallicity distribution function of the Galactic halo based on SDSS ugriz photometry. A set of stellar isochrones is calibrated using observations of several star clusters and validated by comparisons with medium-resolution spectroscopic values over a wide range of metal abundance. We estimate distances and metallicities for individual main-sequence stars in the multiply scanned SDSS Stripe 82, at heliocentric distances in the range 5-8 kpc and |b| > 35 degrees, and find that the in situ photometric metallicity distribution has a shape that matches that of the kinematically selected local halo stars from Ryan & Norris. We also examine independent kinematic information from proper-motion measurements for high Galactic latitude stars in our sample. We find that stars with retrograde rotation in the rest frame of the Galaxy are generally more metal poor than those exhibiting prograde rotation, which is consistent with earlier arguments by Carollo et al. that the halo system comprises at least two spatially overlapping components with differing metallicity, kinematics, and spatial distributions. The observed photometric metallicity distribution and that of Ryan & Norris can be described by a simple chemical evolution model by Hartwick (or by a single Gaussian distribution); however, the suggestive metallicity-kinematic correlation contradicts the basic assumption in this model that the Milky Way halo consists primarily of a single stellar population. When the observed metallicity distribution is deconvolved using two Gaussian components with peaks at [Fe/H] approximate to -1.7 and -2.3, the metal-poor component accounts for approximate to 20%-35% of the entire halo population in this distance range.</P>

Triglyceride-Rich Lipoproteins and Novel Targets for Anti-atherosclerotic Therapy

Željko Reiner 대한심장학회 2018 Korean Circulation Journal Vol.48 No.12

Although elevated serum low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) is without any doubts accepted as an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), the role of elevated triglycerides (TGs)-rich lipoproteins as an independent risk factor has until recently been quite controversial. Recent data strongly suggest that elevated TG-rich lipoproteins are an independent risk factor for CVD and that therapeutic targeting of them could possibly provide further benefit in reducing CVD morbidity, events and mortality, apart from LDL-C lowering. Today elevated TGs are treated with lifestyle interventions, and with fibrates which could be combined with omega-3 fatty acids. There are also some new drugs. Volanesorsen, is an antisense oligonucleotid that inhibits the production of the Apo C-III which is crucial in regulating TGs metabolism because it inhibits lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and hepatic lipase activity but also hepatic uptake of TGs-rich particles. Evinacumab is a monoclonal antibody against angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) and it seems that it can substantially lower elevated TGs levels because ANGPTL3 also regulates TGs metabolism. Pemafibrate is a selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha modulator which also decreases TGs, and improves other lipid parameters. It seems that it also has some other possible antiatherogenic effects. Alipogene tiparvovec is a nonreplicating adeno-associated viral vector that delivers copies of the LPL gene to muscle tissue which accelerates the clearance of TG-rich lipoproteins thus decreasing extremely high TGs levels. Pradigastat is a novel diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 inhibitor which substantially reduces extremely high TGs levels and appears to be promising in treatment of the rare familial chylomicronemia syndrome.

Meso scale model for fiber-reinforced-concrete: Microplane based approach

Željko Smolčić,Joško Ožbolt 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2017 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.19 No.4

In the present paper experimental and numerical analysis of hook-ended steel fiber reinforced concrete is carried out. The experimental tests are performed on notched beams loaded in 3-point bending using fiber volume fractions up to 1.5%. The numerical analysis of fiber reinforced concrete beams is performed at meso scale. The concrete is discretized with 3D solid finite elements and microplane model is used as a constitutive law. The fibers are modelled by randomly generated 1D truss finite elements, which are connected with concrete matrix by discrete bond-slip relationship. It is demonstrated that the presented approach, which is based on the modelling of concrete matrix using microplane model, able to realistically replicate experimental results. In all investigated cases failure is due to the pull-out of fibers. It is shown that with increase of volume content of fibers the effective bond strength and slip capacity of fibers decreases.

A new Toxares Haliday and Aphidius Nees species with notes on the variability of Toxares deltiger (Haliday) (Hymenoptera, Braconidae)

        Tomanović Željko,Kocić Korana,Čkrkić Jelisaveta,Petrović Andjeljko,van Achterberg Cornelis 한국응용곤충학회 2024 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.27 No.1

The genera Aphidius Nees, 1818 and Toxares Haliday, 1840 both belong to the subfamily Aphidiinae, a group whose members are obligatory koinobiont endoparasitoids of aphids (Hemiptera, Aphididae). While Toxares is a small genus with only five known species from the Holarctic and Oriental regions, Aphidius is the most diverse within the subfamily with more than 130 recognised species distributed worldwide. Here we describe two new species discovered in the collection of Naturalis Biodiversity Center: Toxares fovealis sp.n. from Europe (the Netherlands) and Aphidius breviflagellaris sp.n. from Eastern Asia (South Korea). We also analyse genetic and morphological variability of Toxares deltiger (Haliday, 1833) specimens collected in Europe and redescribe the species.
