Document Classification Based on KNN Algorithm by Term Vector Space Reduction
Aiman Moldagulova,Rosnafisah Bte. Sulaiman 제어로봇시스템학회 2018 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2018 No.10
Nowadays there is an increasing interest in the area of unstructured data analysis. The vast majority of unstructured data belongs to unstructured text data. Retrieving useful information from huge volume of unstructured text data is very challenging task. Text mining is a thought-provoking research area as it tries to discover knowledge from unstructured text. This paper deals with methods used for handling unstructured text data in particular document classification problems. Most document classification methods based on term vector space model of representation of unstructured textual data. The term vector space model is easy to implement, provides uniform representation for documents. However feature space for a large collection of documents can reach millions and be sparse. One of the issues is to reduce the dimension of the term-document matrix. In this research we proposed an approach for reduction of term vector space in KNN algorithm.
Social constructivism, projective identity, and learning: case study of nathan

In this paper we consider the significant issue of identity and how it relates to learning. Importantly, we narrow down the study in terms of how projective identity interplays with learning from the point of view of the learner and his/her social community. Self and community cannot be divorced. In order to illustrate this concept, we describe a case study involving an 11 years old boy in a learning context commonly referred to as an informal learning environment. This environment would include the community in which projective identity evolves. The trajectory of identity projection can be conceived in Ricoeurian terms of a plot where actors perform actions in role playing situations. This plot metaphor is consistent to the many interactions within MMPOGs and fictional worlds currently in existence. We conceive of an identity projection framework as our contributions to knowledge.
Honey Bee Based Load Balancing in Cloud Computing

The technology of cloud computing is growing very quickly, thus it is required to manage the process of resource allocation. In this paper, load balancing algorithm based on honey bee behavior (LBA_HB) is proposed. Its main goal is distribute workload of multiple network links in the way that avoid underutilization and over utilization of the resources. This can be achieved by allocating the incoming task to a virtual machine (VM) which meets two conditions; number of tasks currently processing by this VM is less than number of tasks currently processing by other VMs and the deviation of this VM processing time from average processing time of all VMs is less than a threshold value. The proposed algorithm is compared with different scheduling algorithms; honey bee, ant colony, modified throttled and round robin algorithms. The results of experiments show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm in terms of execution time, response time, makespan, standard deviation of load, and degree of imbalance.

The expanding population of elderly parents who continue to care for their child with intellectual disabilities well into old age is a growing concern (Hubert & Hollins, 2000). The research aims to assess the needs of elderly parents as caregivers and the perceived needs of their child with intellectual disabilities. Semi structured interviews were undertaken with 10 caregivers aged 65 years and above. The interviews focused on identifying elderly caregivers’ needs and the perceived needs of their child. Care plans were developed, in which caregivers’ and clients’ needs were prioritized. Elderly caregivers expressed support needs in several areas; social interaction and emotional support were common themes. When discussing their child’s care plan, the need for their child to acquire Activities of Daily Living Skills and functional academics were some pertinent concerns. Other significant needs in their child’s care plan include transitional planning, residential support and early intervention of medical issues. Identifying the support needs of elderly caregivers, and developing appropriate care plans are important to provide the necessary support as they age. Emphasis was also given in training clients to be independent, with the goal that they can be a support to their elderly parents.

Purpose: Set against the social environmental context where university students desire to continue staying in the Halls of Residence is contingent on their active participation in campus life activities, this exploratory study examines the reasons that students have for participating in the Inter-Hall Games, and how autonomous and controlled motivation for participation relate to their subjective well-being. In addition, to understand the role of stress in student life, the relationship between stress and the students’ well-being is also examined. Method: In this exploratory cross-sectional study, a questionnaire was employed to survey 166 university students from ten Halls of Residence on the studied variables. Using multiple regression, the analysis examined if the data fitted the model linking the two types of motivation and stress with subjective well-being. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the qualitative data gathered from the open-ended question. Result: Autonomous motivation was found to positively predict subjective well-being while controlled motivation (albeit non-significant) and stress negatively predict subjective well-being. Results from the thematic analysis showed various motives for participating in the Inter-Hall Games that were associated with autonomous motivation. Gaining points for Hall admission was among the reasons cited that were classified as controlled motivation. Conclusion: University students’ motivation for participating in Intra-Hall Games largely remained autonomously driven even though there is an obligation to acquire points for securing a room in the Halls. It can be argued that the overall vibrant university sporting culture and the nature of sports may have a role in mitigating the effects of compulsion imposed by the Hall Admission policy. Although controlled motivation negatively predicted subjective well-being, it was statistically non-significant. Notwithstanding this, participating in the Inter-Hall Games to gain points for admission to the Halls was among the motives for participation cited by the students. Whether the obligation to gain points added to the stress that students faced, which was found to predict detrimental effects on students’ subjective well-being, was not investigated in the study. Further studies that specifically assess the effects of campus life policy on various student outcomes via potential mediators such as stress may shed more light on how students respond to such policies.
