<P>Vertically and laterally oriented cobalt dendrite films with or without dendritic structures were synthesized by cathodic electrodeposition under different experimental conditions. The morphology of Co deposits was varied significantly depending on deposition conditions such as applied potential, precursor concentration and especially pH value. Co dendritic crystal growth along the [110] direction is preferred. The possible growth mechanism is discussed by supposing differing concentration areas. Results of glucose electrooxidation demonstrate that vertical Co dendrite films are promising materials as carbohydrate sensors with high sensitivity and fast response. <P>(001)-oriented monoclinic nanorod and microplate WO3 films are fabricated on commercial FTO-coated glass substrates by a rubbing seed layer and a spin-coating seed layer assisted by hydrothermal reactions. The nanorod film obtained by the rubbing seed layer assisted by hydrothermal reactions is more regular and perpendicular to the substrate.</P>

<P>Single crystalline orthorhombic phase tungsten trioxide monohydrate (<I>O</I>-WO<SUB>3</SUB>·H<SUB>2</SUB>O, space group: <I>Pmnb</I>) nanoplates with a clear morphology and uniform size distribution have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method and fabricated on the surface of fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrates with selective exposure of the crystal facet by the finger rubbing method. The rubbing method can easily arrange the <I>O</I>-WO<SUB>3</SUB>·H<SUB>2</SUB>O nanoplates along the (020) facet on the FTO substrate. The <I>O</I>-WO<SUB>3</SUB>·H<SUB>2</SUB>O nanoplate can be converted to monoclinic phase WO<SUB>3</SUB> (γ-WO<SUB>3</SUB>, space group: <I>P</I>21/<I>n</I>) with dominant crystal facet of (002) without destroying the plate structure. Crystal morphologies, structures, and components of the powders and films have been determined by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, etc. The band gap energies of the <I>O</I>-WO<SUB>3</SUB>·H<SUB>2</SUB>O and γ-WO<SUB>3</SUB> nanoplates were determined as ca. 2.26 and 2.49 eV, respectively. Photoelectrochemical properties of the films with (002) dominant crystal facet have also been checked for discussion of further application in water oxidation. The advantage of (002) facet dominant film was investigated by comparing to one spin-coated γ-WO<SUB>3</SUB> thin film with the same thickness via photoelectrochemical characterizations such as photocurrent, incident photon to current efficiency, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.</P><P>Single crystalline orthorhombic phase <I>O</I>-WO<SUB>3</SUB>·H<SUB>2</SUB>O nanoplates with clear morphology and uniform size distribution have been synthesized by the hydrothermal method and fabricated as (020)-oriented film by the finger rubbing method. <P>The microbial resistance has become a global hazard with the irrational use of antibiotics. Infection of drug-resistant bacteria seriously threatens human health. Currently, there is an urgent need for the development of novel antimicrobial agents with new mechanisms and lower levels of toxicity. In this paper, a series of (<I>S</I><I>,Z</I>)-4-methyl-2-(4-oxo-5-((5-substitutedphenylfuran-2-yl) methylene)-2-thioxothiazolidin-3-yl)pentanoic acids via a Knoevenagel condensation were synthesized and evaluated for their antibacterial activity <I>in</I><I>-</I><I>vitro</I>. The synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR and MS. The antibacterial test<I> in</I><I>-</I><I>vitro</I> showed that all of the synthesized compounds had good antibacterial activity against several Gram-positive bacteria (including multidrug-resistant clinical isolates) with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values in the range of 2–4 µg/mL. Especially compounds 4c, 4d, 4e and 4f were the most potent, with MIC values of 2 µg/mL against four multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacterial strains.</P>

This paper is based on the 9 goat colonies along the middle and lower Yellow River valley and 7 local goat colonies in the Northeast, Tibet and the Yangtze valley. After collecting the same data about the 22 goat colonies in China and other countries, it establishes and composes the matrix of fuzzy similarity relation describing the genetic similarities of different colonies. It also clusters 38 colonies according to their phylogenetic relationship. The establishment of the matrix and the cluster are effected in terms of the frequency of 18 loci and 43 allelomorphs in blood enzyme and other protein variations. The study proves that the middle Yellow River valley is one of the taming and disseminating centers of domestic goats in the South and East of Central Asia. Compared with other goat populations in this vast area, the native goat populations in the west of Mongolian Plateau, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the middle Yellow River valley share the same origin. The colonies in the lower Yellow River valley and those in the middle valley, however, are relatively remote in their phylogenetic relationship. The native goat colonies in the southeast of Central Asia can be classified into two genetic groups: "East Asia" and "South Asia" and the colonies in Southeast Asia belong to either group.

A series of arylhydrazone derivatives bearing a rhodanine moiety have been synthesized, characterized, and evaluated as antibacterial agents. Some of these compounds showed potent antibacterial activities against several different strains of Gram-positive bacteria, including multidrug-resistant clinical isolates. Of the compounds tested, IIk and IIIk were identified as the most effective, with minimum inhibitory concentration values of $2-4{\mu}g/mL$ against multidrug-resistant Gram-positive organisms, including methicillin-resistant and quinolone-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. None of the compounds exhibited any activity against the Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli 1356 at $64{\mu}g/mL$.

The 14-3-3 proteins are highly conserved, ubiquitous molecules involved in a variety of biologic phenomena, such as cell cycle control, and apoptosis. However, their expression in cholangiocarcinoma has not been previously characterized. In this paper, immunohistochemistry using specific anti-14-3-3 monoclonal antibodies was performed on formalin-fixed;, paraffin embedded archival tissue from 86 patients of cholangiocarcinoma. We also examined the correlation between expression and survival rate and clinicopathologic factors such as tumor location, tumor size, pathologic differentiation, lymphatic permeation, lymph node metastasis, and tumor stage. Positive 14-3-3 proteins expression was observed for 6 isoforms (${\beta}$, ${\sigma}$, ${\gamma}$, ${\theta}$, ${\delta}$, ${\eta}$) of these proteins in 86 patients of cholangiocarcinoma. ${\beta}$ and ${\sigma}$ isoform immunoreactivity was correlated with lymph node metastasis, tumor stage and patients' survival rate. In addition, ${\delta}$ isoform immunoreactivity showed trends with tumor location, tumor size, pathologic differentiation and tumor stage, while the ${\theta}$ isoform was correlated with pathologic differentiation. These results indicated that upregulated expression of some isoforms of 14-3-3 may be a common mechanism for evading apoptosis in cholangiocarcinoma, so that targeting 14-3-3 may be a novel promising strategy for the treatment of this tumor.

This paper studies the aerodynamic stability of a tensioned, geometrically nonlinear orthotropic membrane structure with hyperbolic paraboloid in sag direction. Considering flow separation, the wind field around membrane structure is simulated as the superposition of a uniform flow and a continuous vortex layer. By the potential flow theory in fluid mechanics and the thin airfoil theory in aerodynamics, aerodynamic pressure acting on membrane surface can be determined. And based on the large amplitude theory of membrane and D'Alembert's principle, interaction governing equations of wind-structure are established. Then, under the circumstance of single-mode response, the Bubnov-Galerkin approximate method is applied to transform the complicated interaction governing equations into a system of second-order nonlinear differential equation with constant coefficients. Through judging the frequency characteristic of the system characteristic equation, the critical velocity of divergence instability is determined. Different parameter analysis shows that the orthotropy, geometrical nonlinearity and scantling of structure is significant for preventing destructive aerodynamic instability in membrane structures. Compared to the model without considering flow separation, it's basically consistent about the divergence instability regularities in the flow separation model.
