Objective: To investigate uPA and VEGF expression in esophageal cancer and relations with tumorous invasion and metastasis. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect uPA and VEGF expression in the normal epithelial tissue of esophageal mucosa and cancer tissue and detect CD34 labeled micrangium and analyze the relationships with clinical pathological features and tumor angiogenesis. Results: Positive rates for uPA and VEGF protein expression were significantly greater in esophageal cancer than normal epithelial tissue (P < 0.05), the two being linked (P <0.05). In addition, uPA and VEGF protein expression of the high microvessel density (MVD) group was significantly lower than in the low MVD group (P < 0.05), with relation to clinical pathological staging, differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). Conclusion: In esophageal cancer tissue, uPA and VEGF proteins are overexpressed and promote tumor angiogenesis, indicative of a poor prognosis.

Control of blood pressure is maintained by the interaction between the arterial baroreflex and vestibulosympathetic reflex during postural changes. In this study, the contributions of vestibular receptors and baroreceptors to the maintenance of blood pressure following acute hypotension were compared in terms of phosphorylated extracellular regulated protein kinase (pERK) expression in the nucleus tractus solitaries (NTS). Expression of pERK in the NTS was measured in conscious rats that had undergone bilateral labyrinthectomy (BL) and/or sinoaortic denervation (SAD) 5, 10, 20, and 40 min following acute hypotension induced by sodium nitroprusside (SNP) infusion. Expression of pERK increased significantly in the NTS in the control group following SNP infusion, and the expression peaked at 10 min after SNP infusion. The number of pERK positive neurons increased following SNP infusion in BL, SAD, and BL+SAD groups, although the increase was smaller than in control group. The BL group showed a relatively higher reduction in pERK expression than the SAD group, and the pERK expression in the NTS was localized to the caudal portion of the nuclei in the BL and SAD groups. These results suggest that the vestibular receptors may play a key role in maintaining blood pressure following acute hypotension; thus, the vestibular system may contribute to compensate for orthostatic hypotension.

An in-service steam strainer was found to have failed in a steam turbine valve due to the impact of a foreign body. Thus, a Finite element (FE) model was built to study the impact effect of a foreign body on a steam strainer. A Johnson–Cook strength model and its failure model were used to describe the impact-induced failure of the film and deformation of the support in the strainer. The effects of the impact location, shape, mass and speed of the foreign body on the failure of the strainer were investigated. The possible locations of micro-cracks in the film were determined. The FE results indicated that impact by an exfoliated metal part (with small mass, sharp edges and high speed hitting the film close to the rib) is likely to cause failure of the film and large deformation of the support.
Influence of rub groove on rotordynamics associated with leakage air flow through a labyrinth seal

An extensive investigation of influence of rub grooves on dynamics and stability of the rotor, which is subjected to aerodynamic forcing associated with the leakage flow through 44 straight-through seals, was performed by using numerical calculations based on the single control-volume method and the perturbation analysis. Three cases of different groove configurations were chosen for the comparative study, e.g., the seal without rub groove (case1), the seal with upstream shifting of the seal tooth in respect to the rub groove (case2) and the seal with location of the seal tooth in the middle station of the rub groove (case3). The orifice contract coefficient adopted in reduction of rotordynamic coefficients was provided by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Influence of rub grooves on the leakage flow was obtained in terms of the close-up view of the flow pattern near the seal tooth, leakage flow rate, distributions of the mean pressure and circumferential velocity in cavities. In comparison to case 1, the leakage flow in case 3 is considerably intensified, while which in case 2 is slightly increased. Dynamics and instability of the rotor in all cases was discussed in terms of the rotordynamic coefficients and the logarithmic decrement, respectively. The results disclosed that the aerodynamic forcing in case 2 intensified the destabilization of the rotor system.
Study on Application of IOT in the Cotton Warehousing Environment

Cotton is an important strategic material for national well-being and the people’s livelihood. The warehousing environmental conditions will directly affect the storage quality of cotton or economic value, and even have some influence on the whole national economy. In order to improve the relatively out-dated management of Chinese cotton warehousing industry, this paper firstly analyzed the existing problems and the needs of future development in the management of China cotton warehousing industry, and then constructed the IOT architecture suitable for cotton storage based on the advantage of IOT technology, and finally designed detailed IOT application solution of cotton warehousing with specific examples from such technology application layers as sensing layer, network layer, and application layer, which aims to make an useful attempt to enhance the management level of China cotton warehousing.
