        Augmenting yogurt quality attributes through hydrocolloidal gums

        Objective: The present work was undertaken to determine the possibility of using xanthan and guar gums as stabilizers to enhance the yogurt quality. Methods: Yogurt was manufactured from standardized milk (3.5% fat, 8.5% solid-not-fat contents) with the addition of 2% to 3% starter culture. Enzyme-hydrolyzed xanthan gum (0.1%, 0.5%, 1.0%) and guar gum (0.1%, 0.5%, 1.0%) were added to the yogurt as stabilizers. Prepared yogurt samples were kept at refrigeration temperature (4℃±2℃) for 21 days and various quality and sensory parameters were studied at regular intervals (7 days). Results: Results showed that yogurt with 0.5% xanthan gum (T5) was best in terms of preventing syneresis and improving the viscosity, water holding capacity and texture of the product. Additionally, adding gums did not adversely affect the sensorial attributes of the product. Conclusion: Modified gums were found useful in augmenting yogurt quality and therefore addition of gums is highly recommended for manufacturing yogurt.

        Designing CuSe-gCN nanocomposite as an active electrocatalyst for water oxidation

        CuSe-gCN nanocrystals were premeditated and produced utilizing a simple hydrothermal method. Different analytical techniques well characterized the generated samples. The prepared samples also contain nanocrystals with a vertical shape, decorated with numerous nanoparticles. All characterizations confirm the phase composition of composite CuSe-gCN. The pore size of the N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm also pointed to a mesoporous structure. Furthermore, the combination of distinct morphology nanoparticles embellished on gCN graphitized nanotubes helps to achieve larger current densities and lower starting potentials for the oxygen evolution process. Because of their unique mesoporous structure, the CuSe-gCN catalysts show exceptional electrical conductivity and electrocatalytic activity. Compared to monometallic CuSe and gCN, CuSe-gCN significantly lower overpotential of 208 mV was needed to obtain a current density of 10 mA/cm2. The CuSe-gCN nanocrystals displayed good stability and a low Tafel slope of 35 mV/dec. This research shows that it is possible to use a copper-based selenide with gCN and combine all the beneficial characteristics in a single catalyst system.. Still, it also offers fresh perspectives on the logical proposal and creation of effective electrocatalysts for various applications.

        Optimization analysis of the absorption-stabilization process for fluid catalytic cracking unit

        The absorption-stabilization process (ASP), an important part of petroleum refinery used in the end-use products of petroleum (such as stable gasoline, liquid petroleum gas, and dry gas), is energy-intensive and has low product quality. Aspen Plus process simulator was used for the development of the ASP process model. The developed process model was validated with the actual plant data. The validated model was used to optimize to minimize the cost of the ASP. This work shows that the optimization analysis of the ASP can further improve the product quality and reduce thermal energy consumption. In the new process, changing feeding parameters of supplementary absorption oil, stripping tower intermediate reboiler, and feeding position of stabilization tower reduced the C3 contents of dry gas considerably and lowered the C2 and lighter contents of LPG. Additionally, the new process saved 1.32 MW of thermal energy consumption compared with the existing process. The operating cost has been reduced from 10.921 million USD annually to 9.830 million USD per year. Furthermore, the cost-saving effect of this optimization is about 9.99% (1.091 million USD per year).
