When we read Graham Greene's novels, especially his serious ones A Burn-Out Case, The Comedians, The Heart of the Matter, The Potting Shed, England Made me, The Confidential Agent, and Travels with My Aunt, it is said that the sources of them come from his journals. In Search of Character, Graham Greene propose that the value of his two travel diaries lies in their showing the kind of raw material a novelist collects and considers to be of creative interest. During his trip Greene found that he needed to take notes concerning the treatment of Reprosy. It is necessary that he used it also to store ideas about the novel. But some of this material eventually found its way into the novels, some was discarded. Querry, one of the important characters in A Bwrn-Out Case, keeps a journal in which he chronicles his private thoughts and feelings about having come to the end of his talent as an architect. This fear, of course, coincides with Greene's personal fear of having reached the end of his powers as a novelist. Quarry's positive reaction to Africa also corresponds to Greene's as expressed in both tracel books. Like Greene, he hears 'anestral voices' which compel him to remain in Africa, and he is also threatened by the appalling 'emptiness' of the forest. Finally, his recovery from depression and despair is somewhat like the process described in Greene's journals.

PDA 밸브에 의한 연소실내의 연소특성에 관한 연구

An experimental study presents characteristics of combustion in a combustion chamber by port deactivation valve for economy and emissions standards. In order to use combustion properties data, it is necessary to build some data base, which use cylinder pressure sensor, etc. Port deactivation valve has been developed to satisfy requirement of achieving sufficient swirl generation to improve the combustion. A feasibility and necessity of combustion pressure based cylinder spark timing control has been examined. So, this was obtained the Coefficient of Variation(COV) and the mass-burned(MFB). The characteristics of pressure ratio fraction is similar to that of mass-burned fraction. Using the results of the test, the effects of the combustion chamber can be improved combustion stability by port deactivation.

This thesis aims at the study of Graham Greene's Travel Writings as the sources of his novels, such as Brighton Rock(1938), and The Heart of the Matter(1948). When he was in the childhood, he was very much interested in traveling in strange countries in his mind. To realize his early dreams, he left England for the first time as a young man. He traveled West Africa without the maps. His travel was to project his child's imagination during his Berkamsted school. The background of Brighton Rock is the terrains he expiored, West Africa, where an atomosphere of fear and menace prevailed. The cruel and wicked world described in his travel writings became the background of Brighton Rock in the civilized one. Brighton Rock deals with Pinky who indulges in murdering as an incarnation of evil. The background of The Heart of the Matter is Freetown. West Africa, which Graham Greene wrote his first travel writing about. The fear he felt there proves idele for when he next has the opportunity to describe the town, in the novel The Heart of the Matter, he again seems capable of recalling only the sense of squalor, ugliness, and decay that pervaded the place. Greene says in the travelogue that Africa suggests to him not a particular place but a shape which is roughly that of the human heart. Journey without Maps is the first travel writing that Graham Greene wrote about his journey. His travel book, the Liberian adventure, is called the "turning point" in Greene's development as a writer and accordingly describes Journey without Maps as the pivotal item on the list of his writings. Following the Lierian journey, however, the focus and quality of his novels changes. Greene is for the first time intent on suggesting the dimensions of the unsolvable mystery of the human condition, beyond or beneath and sociological or historical or psychological explanation.

PDA 밸브가 SI 엔진의 연소특성에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구

The Swirl is one of the important parameters that effects the characteristics of combustion. PDA valve has been developed to satisfy two requirements of achieving sufficient swirl generation for improving the combustion and still maintaining hi호 volumetric efficiency. This paper presents the experimental results of the effect of PDA valve on characteristics of combustion in single cylinder spa가 ignition engine. As a result, the combustion stability can be greatly improved by PDA valve. The data b m present study are available for design of engine as the basic data.

인터페이스 회로를 적용한 디젤기관의 배출가스특성에 관한 실험적 연구

In order to collect the engine performance data and determine optimum engine conditions, engine performance test based on interface unit were tested. This paper was carried out that engine' performance was developed using interface unit between personal computer and diesel engine. The results of the study are summarized as follows: Interface unit was developed. By using PAL, Simulation was carried in order to logic's inspection. From this test, NOx were decreased, otherwise PM were increased. By using EGR system, PM were increased by twice in the high load ranges, it was not seen to come into effect in the low load ranges. This system was tested D13 mode, the results were decreased more than 50% in the NOx emission.

점화시기 및 당량비 변화에 따른 CNG기관의 성능 및 배출가스에 관한 연구

Research on the development of CNG dedicated en dine that has important meaning both as a clean fuel and an alterna-tive energy to reduce the exhaust emission horn diesel engine are actively going on these days. In this study, in order to present the direction and application of CNG engine, we tested the CNG engine performance experimented by changing the parameters such as ignition timing, equivalent ratio. The engine performance and exhaust emission were measured by engine performance mode at maximum load condition with increasing the rpm in the range of 1,000∼2,200rpm. Also, the testing engine was heavy-duty CNG dedicated engines with displacement of 11,050cc.

병원근무자에 대한 특수건강진단 적용 가능성에 관한 연구

병원근무자들에 대한 특수건강진단 적용 여부를 판단하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 1995년 3월 10일부터 4주간에 걸쳐 부산시내에 위치하는 2개 종합병원 근무자 830명을 대상으로 설문조사를 시행해 얻은 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 조사된 43개 항목 중 10% 이상의 대상자가 유해요인에 폭로되고 있다고 응답한 항목은 소음, 분진 등 16개 항목이었다. 이 중 분진, 소음 및 스트레스는 연구대상자의 50%이상에서 폭로되고 있다고 응답했으며 그 외 알콜류 소독제(41.3%), 방사선(34.6%), 일반약제(33.3%)의 순으로 폭로되고 있었고 VDT의 경우 25.2%, aldehyde류는 18.7%에서 폭로되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 대상자의 63.1%에서 병원근무 환경 중에 유해인자가 존재한다고 응답했고 병원의 환경측정이 필요하다고 대답한 사람은 80%에 달했다. 35.7%가 유해인자에 대한 교육을 받은 적이 없다고 응답했다. 전체 응답자의 35.7%가 유해인자에 폭로시 보호 장비를 착용하지 않는다고 응답했고 주기적인(격년) 건강진단은 48.6%에서 받는 것으로 조사되었다. 근무부서의 환기상태는 7.2%만이 좋은 편이라고 응답했다. 이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 병원근무자들이 여러 가지 유해환경에 노출되고 있고 또, 이로 인해 발생할 수 있는 건강장해에 대한 예방대책이 소홀한 것으로 나타나 병원의 작업환경측정의 시행이 필요하고 이 결과를 바탕으로 병원근무자들에 대한 특수건강진단 적용여부를 결정해야 할 것이다. This study was performed to decide the possibility of special health examination to the hospital employees. We carried out questionnaire survey for 830 subjects at 2 general hospitals located in Pusan city. The summary of this study are as follows. 1. Above 10% of total hospital employees were replied that they exposed to 16 hazard items, such as dust, noise, stress and etc. Among them, over 50% of hospital employees exposed to dust(69.8%), noise(52.3%), stress(60.1%). And hospital employees exposed to alcoholic disinfectant(41.3%), radiation(34.6%), drug(33.3%), VDT(25.2%), and aldehyde(18.7%) also. 2. 63% of the hospital employees replied that there were hazardous factors in hospital environments, and 80% insisted the necessity for hospital environment measuring. 35.7% of respondents replied that they had never taken the education about hazardous factors. 35.7% of the total respondents answered that they didn't use protective equipment when exposed to hazardous factors. And 48.6% answered they took periodic health examination. Only 7.2% replied that ventilation condition of office room was proper. As shown in above results, hospital employees are exposed to various hazards, and turn out neglecting to health problems caused these hazardous factors. So at first, it is necessary to measuring hospital working environment, and then will be decided the possibility of special health examination to the hospital employees.

소아에서 Kikuchi 병으로 진단된 4례

Kikuchi-Fujimoto disease, or histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is a benign self-limiting disease that was initially described in Japan by Kikuchi and Fujimoto. independently as a disease affecting young Asian females in 1972. Later on, this entity started to be described worldwide. The cause is unknown and it manifests as fever and cervical lymphadenopathy with or without local pain. This constellation of symptoms, in the presence of a characteristic histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, provides the clinicopathologic diagnosis. Kikuchi's disease follows a benign course, but shoud be differentiated from other diseases such as malignant lymphoma, tuberculous lymphadenitis and so on. Kikuchi's disease might be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. We report 4 cases of Kikuchi's disease that occurred in children with the review of literatures.

A study on the HPHT-processed NOUV diamonds by means of their gemological and spectroscopic properties

This study has been carried out with the eight HPHT processed NOUV diamonds - two yellow, two yellowish green, two green and two orangy yellow color stones. The gemological properties of these diamonds included a highly saturated body color, graphitized fractures around the girdles, tension cracks around crystalline inclusions, long-wave UV with medium yellowish green to a very strong yellowish green luminescence, and short-wave UV with faint yellowish green to a strong yellowish green luminescence. Distinctive features of spectroscopic properties include absorption peaks at 415 nm and 503 nm a strong absorption band at $460{\sim}480nm$ and a H2 center at 986nm. Infrared spectra showed an absorption peak at $1344cm^{-1}$ (C center), which is the characteristics related to single substitutional nitrogen.
