        Differences in Breeding Ecology of Natural and Artificial Nesting Japanese Wagtail Motacilla grandis Breeders

        This study is about the breeding ecology of the Japanese Wagtails based on the Wagtails" nests (n = 37) on the east coast of Gangwon-do from April 2012 until August 2015. The average dimensions of the nests are Outer Major Axis 187.3 ± 24.6 (mm), Outer Minor Axis 138.5 ± 15.4 (mm), Inner Major Axis 87.1 ± 2.4 (mm), Inner Minor Axis 77.2 ± 1.9 (mm), Thickness 17.2 ± 0.8 (mm), Depth 24.8 ± 0.5 (mm), Height 46.0 ± 3.5 (mm), and Mass 68.0 ± 4.9(g). Most nests were found on bridges. The average clutch size at artificial structures was measured as 5.4 ± 0.8, which is not a significant difference from the average clutch size, which was measured as 5.4 ± 0.7 on natural structures. Hatching and fledging success due to the structure did not show a significant difference, but there was a difference in breeding success. The main causes of breeding failure were the weather and predation. The most unsuccessful nests were identified in natural structures, because these structures are easier than artificial structures to access. In addition, many people use artificial structures near nests, making it difficult for natural enemies to gain access to the nests. The birds breeding at the PVC pipes mainly experienced failures in nesting due to the weather. PVC pipes were originally used in embankments and building walls, where there are installed drainage applications such as retaining walls. The nest was washed away in the rainy season. There is a lack of data on the breeding ecology of Japanese Wagtails that breed in Korea. Thus, this study reports the basic breeding ecology of Japanese Wagtails in a hydroecological environment, and uses the reported data as a baseline for habitat protection and management.

      • 전립선암 환자 양성자치료 시 빔 전달방식에 따른 치료계획 비교

        목 적: 전립선암 양성자치료 시 Double Scattering mode (DS)와 Pencil Beam Scanning mode (PBS)에서의 Dose-volume histograms (DVHs)를 분석하여, Conformity Number (CN), Homogeneity indexes (HI)와 선량 별 정상장기의 %Volume을 구하여 선량적합성과 정상장기 보호효과를 비교 평가하고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 양성자치료를 받은 9명의 전립선암 환자를 대상으로 Eclipse proton external beam planning system을 사용해 일일선량 2.5 Gy씩 28회, 총 70 Gy가 PTV에 95%가 들어가도록 치료계획을 세웠다. 치료 계획된 DS와 PBS 각각의 DVHs로 PTV의 CN과 HI을 구하여 비교하고 정상장기에 들어가는 선량별 %Volume을 비교하였다. 결 과: PTV의 평균 CN은 DS $0.68{\pm}0.07$에서, PBS $0.79{\pm}0.01$로 16.63% 증가하였다. 평균 HI는 DS $0.12{\pm}0.03$에서, PBS $0.09{\pm}0.01$로 -22.66% 감소하였다. 직장을 제외한 전 관찰자의 모든 정상장기에서 DS보다 PBS에서 들어가는 %Volume이 감소하였고, PBS에서 평균 왼쪽 대퇴골 두에 30 Gy 이상 들어가는 %Volume이 -79.93%로 가장 많이 감소하였으며, 평균 직장에 70 Gy 이상 들어가는 %Volume이 -3.03%로 가장 적게 감소하였다. 결 론: 따라서 전립선암 환자 양성자 치료 시 PBS가 DS보다 선량 적합성에 도달하는데 효과적이며, 정상장기에 들어가는 불필요한 선량을 낮추는데 좋고 특히 대퇴골 두에 들어가는 불필요한 저 선량을 감소시키는데 탁월한 것으로 사료된다. Purpose: After making two plans, the Double Scattering (DS) Mode and The Pencil Beam Scanning (PBS) Mode, of patients on early prostate cancer, we not only compare the dose conformity and the dose homogeneity by analyzing each DVH, CN and HI, but also evaluate normal structures's sparing effect on each mode. Materials and Methods: Planes about nine patients, who did proton therapy, on prostate cancer was setted using the Eclipse proton external beam planning system. The prescription dose, every $2.5 Gy{\times}28$ fractions=70 Gy, was delivered to the PTV. The CN and the HI were getted by anlazing each DVHs for the DS Plan and the PBS Plan. Also, normal structures' %volumes according to dose of the PBS are campared with those of the DS. Results: The average CN of the PTV is increase 16.63% from DS $0.68{\pm}0.07$ to PBS $0.79{\pm}0.01$, and the average IN of the PTV is decrease -22.66 % from DS $0.12{\pm}0.03$ to PBS $0.09{\pm}0.01$. The PBS has litter %Volumes of normal structures than the DS about every patient except Rectum. The average %Volume of Left Femoral Head receiving ${\geq}30$ Gy shows most high decreasing rate, -79.93%, from DS to PBS and the average %Volume of Rectum receiving ${\geq}70$ Gy shows most low decreasing rate, -3.03%, from DS to PBS. Conclusion: Therefore, the PBS is more effective achieving the dose conformity and the dose Homogeneity than DS, and better to reduce unnecessary dose arriving normal structures, especially the femoral heads.

      • Image Guided에 기초한 Body Stereotatic Radiosurgery의 과정

        Purpose : In the radiosurgery, to obtain CT image to find more accurate tumor position during respiration, and using them, to increase the accuracy of radiation treatment by applying image guided. Materials and Methods : Using the self-made vacuum cushion for the body SRS, CT images were obtained three for each patient during respiration (shallow, inhalation, exhalation). They were transformed to the RTP computer and then were fused. Global GTVs were delineated on the fused images and more appropriated treatment planning was established. Results : We can find the tumor position is moving toward cranio-caudal with max 10 mm margin and volume is transformed. As a result from the comparision of DVH (pre & post radio surgery), we observed about 100% dose to tumor. Conclusion : BSRS was skeptical due to the tumor movement during respiration. More accurate by the combination of the development of immobilization devices and BSRS based on Image Guide, it will be applied to more cases for BSRS.

      • 조영제 사용이 양성자 Range와 SOBP(Spread-Out Bragg peak)에 미치는 영향

        목 적 : 조영제는 CT모의치료시 정상조직과 악성종양을 구분하는데 뛰어난 대조도를 제공하기 때문에 CT모의치료에 널리 사용하고 있다. 하지만 조영제는 치료계획 CT에서 일시적으로 존재하기 때문에, 치료계획과 실제 치료 사이에는 Hounsfield Unit(HU)의 차이가 발생하게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 조영제 사용으로 인한 HU의 변화가 양성자 치료계획에 미치는 영향을 확인 하고자한다. 대상 및 방법 : 20명의 간암 환자에게서 Phase에 따른 HU값의 변화를 측정하였다, 그리고 5명의 양성자치료계획에서 HU변화에 따른 Range와 Spread-Out Bragg peak(SOBP)의 변화를 살펴보았다. Hand made water phantom을 이용하여 깊이와 HU의 변화에 따른 Range와 SOBP의 변화를 확인하였다. 결 과 : 20명 간암 환자의 HU 변화(Pre contrast, Arterial phase, Porta phase)는 간 조직에서 ($58{\pm}5.7$, $75{\pm}9.5$, $117{\pm}14.6$)이었으며 대동맥에서($40{\pm}6.1$, $279{\pm}49.0$, $154{\pm}22.8$)이었다. 5명의 간암 양성자치료계획에서 HU 변화에 따른 Range 변화는 평균 2.5 mm, SOBP 변화는 평균 1.4 mm 이었다. Hand made water phantom study에서는 HU가 증가함에 따라 Range는 감소되었고 SOBP는 줄어들었다. 결 론 : 양성자 치료계획에서 HU값의 변화는 양성자 Range와 SOBP를 변화시켰다. 실제 양성자 빔에서 HU 변화에 따른 Range와 SOBP의 변화에 대한 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료 된다. Purpose : Intravenous contrast medium is a substance used to enhance the contrast of normal tissues or malignant tissues within the body. For this reason, intravenous contrast media have been extensively used form treatment-planning CT. However, when the patient is receiving proton therapy, there is no contrast medium in that moment. In this study, evaluate the influence of intravenous contrast medium on proton range and Spread-Out Bragg peak(SOBP) in Treatment Planning System(TPS). Materials and Methods : Hounsfield Unit(HU) value were measured by 20 liver cancer patients with phase change. and evaluate the proton range and SOBP on 5 liver proton treatment plan. By using the hand made water phantom measure the proton range and SOBP on proton treatment plan with changing HU and Depth. Results : Changing value(Pre contrast, Arterial phase, Portal phase) in liver cancer patient were ($58{\pm}5.7$, $75{\pm}9.5$, $117{\pm}14.6$ for liver tissue) and ($40{\pm}6.1$, $279{\pm}49.0$, $154{\pm}22.8$ for aorta), respectively. The mean difference of range was 2.5mm and SOBP was 1.4mm according to HU change. In phantom study, proton range was shorter and SOBP was narrowed with increasing HU. Conclusion : We verify that HU change lead to range and SOBP change in TPS. Additional study is required to verify that change of HU make range and SOBP be changed in actual substance.
