        Localization of QTLs for Husk Proportion and Lignin Content Using a High-Density Genetic Linkage Map of Brassica napus

        Husk proportion (HP) and lignin content (LC) are two important traits of seed quality of B. napus. Efficient selection of these two traits is an important way to improve the seed quality in meal improvement. A set of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of B. napus (GH06 × Zhongyou 821) was used for mapping QTLs of HP and LC in a two-year study in different environments. 509 markers (78 SSR markers, 66 RAPD markers and 365 SRAP markers) were mapped on 26 linkage groups with an average length of 73.96 cM. The map covered a total of 1923 cM, and the average distance between two adjacent markers was 3.78 cM. Analysis of variance of LC and HP indicated that. LC might not be significantly affected by environment (F = 2.96 < 3.02) and HP might be affected by genotype × environment interactions. A total of 15 significant QTLs were detected in eight linkage groups with a LOD threshold value of 2.5 (LR ≥ 11.5) by CIM, explaining 4.99-16.14% of phenotype variation. Some QTLs of LC and HP were detected in near regions of the same linkage groups, such as qLCBB05-6-1 and qLCWZ06-6-1, qLCBB05-10-2 and qLCBB06-10-1 and qLCWZ06-10-2, qHPBB05-9-3 and qHPBB06-9-1, qHPBB05-10-4 and qHPBB06-10-2 and qHPBB06-10-3 and qHPWZ06-10-1. This study indicates that the repeatedly detected QTLs of LC and HP might be major-effect QTLs of LC and HP.

      • Expression Profiles of Loneliness-associated Genes for Survival Prediction in Cancer Patients

        Influence of loneliness on human survival has been established epidemiologically, but genomic research remains undeveloped. We identified 34 loneliness-associated genes which were statistically significant for high-lonely and low-lonely individuals. With the univariate Cox proportional hazards regression model, we obtained corresponding regression coefficients for loneliness-associated genes fo individual cancer patients. Furthermore, risk scores could be generated with the combination of gene expression level multiplied by corresponding regression coefficients of loneliness-associated genes. We verified that high-risk score cancer patients had shorter mean survival time than their low-risk score counterparts. Then we validated the loneliness-associated gene signature in three independent brain cancer cohorts with Kaplan-Meier survival curves (n=77, 85 and 191), significantly separable by log-rank test with hazard ratios (HR) >1 and p-values <0.0001 (HR=2.94, 3.82, and 1.78). Moreover, we validated the loneliness-associated gene signature in bone cancer (HR=5.10, p-value=4.69e-3), lung cancer (HR=2.86, p-value=4.71e-5), ovarian cancer (HR=1.97, p-value=3.11e-5), and leukemia (HR=2.06, p-value=1.79e-4) cohorts. The last lymphoma cohort proved to have an HR=3.50, p-value=1.15e-7. Loneliness-associated genes had good survival prediction for cancer patients, especially bone cancer patients. Our study provided the first indication that expression of loneliness-associated genes are related to survival time of cancer patients.

        Investigating determinants of digital transformation: Empirical evidence from Chinese companies

        디지털 기술의 급속한 발전과 COVID-19 대유행으로 인해 기업은 전례 없는 영향과 도전에 직면해 있으며 디지털 전환의 필요성에 대한 인식이 강화되었다. 따라서 기업의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 디지털 전환 전략 수립이 시급한 상황이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 TOE(기술, 조직, 환경) 프레임워크를 사용하여 중국 기업의 디지털 전환 결정요인을 실증적으로 조사하였다. 구체적으로, 313개 기업(관리자)을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 기술, 조직, 환경 측면에서의 결정요인이 디지털 전환에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 관한 가설을 검증하였다. 분석 결과 대부분의 결정요인(복잡성, 호환성, 시행 가능성, 자원 준비성, 관리 지원, 경쟁 압력, 사회발전추세 압력)은 디지털 전환에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 복잡성은 디지털 전환에 부정적인 영향을 미치며, 정부 지원은 디지털 전환에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구는 기업들이 디지털 전환을 채택하는데 있어 실무적인 시사점을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 디지털 전환에 관한 향후 심층적인 연구를 수행하는데 유용한 학술적 시사점을 갖는다. Due to the rapid development of digital technology and the COVID-19 pandemic, companies have been confronted with unprecedented impacts and challenges, strengthening their awareness of the necessity of digital transformation (DT). Hence, it is urgent to establish a DT strategy to enhance the competitive advantage of companies. This study explores DT’s determinants of Chinese companies using TOE (technology, organization, environment) framework. We surveyed 313 companies (managers) and tested the hypotheses to serve the research purpose. According to the results, most of the determinants (compatibility, trialability, resource readiness, management support, competitive pressure, and bandwagon pressure) positively impact DT adoption. However, complexity has a negative impact on that. Furthermore, the relationship between relative advantage, government support, and DT adoption has not been supported. We expect that this paper provides a valuable practical reference for companies to adopt DT and put forward future research directions to promote a more in-depth study on the DT field.

        Research on Rapid Detection Method of Pipeline Leakage Based on The Transient Flow Method

        This paper presents a numerical simulation of a leaking pipeline and verifies the method's applicability using existing experimental data. The method involves generating reflected waves at the leak point by using pressure waves generated by fast valve closure, which causes aberrations in the pressure signal at the valve. The different times of aberration at different leak locations can be used to determine the location of the leak. Furthermore, the time domain information of the pressure signal is refined using the wavelet transform method to capture sudden changes in the pressure signal, which improves the accuracy of the leakage position. This method was tested for different leak locations, sizes, and pipeline wave speed conditions, resulting in accurate detection with an error of less than 1%. When there are multiple leak locations in the pipeline system, the method has a high degree of recognition of the existence of multiple leak locations and can accurately detect the location of each leak. Additionally, the effect of different valve closing times on the pressure waveform of pipeline leaks was studied, demonstrating that slow valve closure can detect the occurrence of a leak in the pipeline, while fast valve closure can be used to locate the leak.

      • An Energy-Efficient Dense PicoStation Deployment and Power Control Strategy for Heterogeneous Networks

        Deploying PicoStations in traditional Macro-cellular networks, especially in hot-spot areas, is a promising strategy to boost system throughput and enhance indoor coverage. However, PicoStations’ introduction brings some new problems, such as severe interference and energy consumption, which may result in performance degradation. In order to improve energy efficiency, throughput fairness and PicoStation coverage, a practical energy-efficient dense PicoStation deployment and power control algorithm is proposed. The proposed scheme maximizes both the number of active PicoStations that can achieve the required capacity and the sum cell capacity under individual capacity constraints in two steps. Finally, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional cell capacity maximum scheme in terms of user fairness and energy saving.

        Recycled aggregate concrete filled steel SHS beam-columns subjected to cyclic loading

        The present paper provides test data to evaluate the seismic performance of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) filled steel square hollow section (SHS) beam-columns. Fifteen specimens, including 12 RAC filled steel tubular (RACFST) columns and 3 reference conventional concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) columns, were tested under reversed cyclic flexural loading while subjected to constant axially compressive load. The test parameters include: (1) axial load level (n), from 0.05 to 0.47; and (2) recycled coarse aggregate replacement ratio (r), from 0 to 50%. It was found that, generally, the seismic performance of RACFST columns was similar to that of the reference conventional CFST columns, and RACFST columns exhibited high levels of bearing capacity and ductility. Comparisons are made with predicted RACFST beam-column bearing capacities and flexural stiffness using current design codes. A theoretical model for conventional CFST beam-columns is employed in this paper for square RACFST beam-columns. The predicted load versus deformation hysteretic curves are found to exhibit satisfactory agreement with test results.

        Modelling of recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tube (RACFST) beam-columns subjected to cyclic loading

        A nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) model is presented for simulating the behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete-filled steel tube (RACFST) beam-columns subjected to constant axial compressive load and cyclically increasing flexural loading. The FEA model was developed based on ABAQUS software package and a displacement-based approach was used. The proposed engineering stress versus engineering strain relationship of core concrete with the effect of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement ratio was adopted in the FEA model. The predicted results of the FEA model were compared with the experimental results of several RACFST as well as the corresponding concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) beam-columns under cyclic loading reported in the literature. The comparison results indicated that the proposed FEA model was capable of predicting the load versus deformation relationship, lateral bearing capacity and failure pattern of RACFST beam-columns with an acceptable accuracy. A parametric study was further carried out to investigate the effect of typical parameters on the mechanism of RACFST beam-columns subjected to cyclic loading.

        Research on Rapid Detection Method of Pipe Blockage Based on The Transient Flow Method

        This paper presents a numerical simulation of a blocked pipeline and verifies the method’s applicability using existing experimental data. Wavelet analysis analyzes pressure signals of blockage types, lengths, rates, and locations inside the horizontal pipeline. A method is obtained for rapidly calculating the blockage location, length, and rate based on pressure wave reflection and transmission principles. The average error for blockage location detection using this method is 0.36%, while the error for blockage length detection is 1.47% and for blockage rate detection is 1.24%. The reasons that affect detection accuracy are given. Additionally, the pressure signals of two unique blockage models are analyzed. Combining the calculation results of multiple blockage locations and different blockage shapes shows that this method is suitable for detecting various blockage forms. The method’s applicability is also investigated when multiple blockages exist in the piping system. It is concluded that the method can only detect the blockage at the nearest position of the valve when there are multiple blockage locations in the piping

        Compressive and flexural behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete filled steel tubes (RACFST) under short-term loadings

        The behaviour of hollow structural steel (HSS) stub columns and beams filled with normal concrete and recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) under instantaneous loading was investigated experimentally. A total of 40 specimens, including 30 stub columns and 10 beams, were tested. The main parameters varied in the tests were: (1) recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) replacement ratio, from 0 to 50%, (2) sectional type, circular and square. The main objectives of these tests were threefold: first, to describe a series of tests on new composite columns; second, to analyze the influence of RCA replacement ratio on the compressive and flexural behaviour of recycled aggregate concrete filled steel tubes (RACFST), and finally, to compare the accuracy of the predicted ultimate strength, bending moment capacity and flexural stiffness of the composite specimens by using the recommendations of ACI318-99 (1999), AIJ (1997), AISC-LRFD (1999), BS5400 (1979), DBJ13-51-2003 (2003) and EC4 (1994).
