      • IWApriori: An Association Rule Mining and Self-updating Method Based on Weighted Increment

        The mining of association rules plays an important role in fault prediction. Many studies have shown that there is an obvious temporal and spatial correlation between the failure records of the cluster system. Therefore, most cluster system failure prediction engines are built based on causal correlation analysis between log events. However, the original system log file usually contains a large number of invalid records (duplicate or non-fault related records), which makes the mining of event correlation extremely difficult and seriously affects the efficiency and accuracy of fault prediction. Therefore, this paper proposes an association rule mining and self-updating method based on weighted increment, named IWApriori (improved weighted Apriori algorithm). The method includes two important steps: 1) log preprocessing; 2) mining and updating of association rules based on improved algorithm IWApriori. This method can effectively improve the rule completeness and realize the efficient mining and updating of rules in the whole life cycle of the system. In addition, we used the real log data set Blue Gene/L to validate our method. The results show that our association rule mining method is better than other methods in terms of time performance, space performance and the effectiveness of mining rules.

        Simulation of natural convection in an inclined polar cavity using a finite-difference lattice Boltzmann method

        Natural convection heat transfer in an inclined polar cavity was studied using a Finite-difference lattice Boltzmann method (FDLBM)based on a double-population approach for body-fitted coordinates. A D2G9 model coupled with the simplest TD2Q4 lattice model wasapplied to determine the velocity field and temperature field. For both velocity and temperature fields, the discrete spatial derivativeswere obtained by combining the upwind scheme with the central scheme, and the discrete temporal term is obtained using a fourth-orderRunge-Kutta scheme. Studies were carried out for different Rayleigh numbers and different inclination angles. The results in terms ofstreamlines, isotherms, and Nusselt numbers explain the heat transfer mechanism of natural convection in an inclined polar cavity due tothe change of Rayleigh number and inclination angle.

        Tunable green-yellow-red light properties of NaY(WO4 )2:Mn2+, Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors excited with 365 nm LED

        By the solid-state reaction method, the NaY(WO4)2 : Mn2+, Dy3+, Eu3+ phosphors are synthesized successfully. The sample’sphase-structure and morphology have been characterized by XRD and EDS. The concentrations of Mn2+, Dy3+, Eu3+, Y3+ andW6+ are measured by ICP, The result implies that the doped process of Mn2+, Dy3+ and Eu3+ is very easy in host NaY(WO4)2. The absorption and excited spectra are presented, The absorption spectrum of Mn2+ is always broad, but the Dy3+, Eu3+hasrelatively sharp absorption peaks.Using the commercial LED of 365 nm wavelength as the excitation light, the emission spectrawith different doped concentrations ratios of Mn2+ are obtained. The Mn2 + doping reduces the emission intensity of Dy3+,alsoit has meaningful influence on the tunable green-yellow-red LED.The high doped concentration of Mn2+ can guarantee theemission intensity of 546 nm enough.

        Phospholipid and Fatty Acid Composition in Leaves and Roots of Ten Autumn Chrysanthemum Cultivars Grown at Low Temperature

        The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between cold hardiness and phospholipid andfatty acid content in leaves and roots of chrysanthemum, and to explore cold resistance mechanisms of chrysanthemumin order to provide a theoretical basis for selecting and breeding a new cold-resistant cultivar. We analyzed thephospholipid and fatty acid components in leaves and roots of 10 autumn chrysanthemum cultivars including sixearly-flowering cultivars and four late-flowering cultivars. We determined the content of phosphatidyl ethanolamine(PE), phosphatidyl choline (PC), phosphatidyl serine (PS), phosphatidyl glycerol (PG), myristic acid (C14:0), palmiticacid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), docosanoic acid (C22:0), oleic acid (C18:1), linoleic acid (C18:2), and linolenic acid(C18:3) in leaves and roots of chrysanthemum seedlings grown at 16C and 5C. The cultivars had different responsesto low temperature that included changes in the cell membrane composition in leaves and roots. The main phospholipidin leaves and roots of chrysanthemum was PE, and the main saturated fatty acid was palmitic acid. Amongunsaturated fatty acids, linolenic acid was found in leaves, whereas oleic acid and linoleic acid were present in theroots. Based on the unsaturated fatty acid content and the ratio of unsaturated to saturated fatty acids in leaves, theearly-flowering cultivars ‘Tan Xiang Shi Zi’ and ‘Tong Que Chun Shen’ and the late-flowering cultivars ‘Guan DongXin Xia’ and ‘Yun Long Feng Wu’ were classified as strongly cold tolerant, while the early-flowering cultivar ‘JinFeng Ling’ and the late-flowering cultivar ‘Mo Bao’ were weakly cold tolerant.

        Lattice Boltzmann simulation of the spreading behavior of a droplet impacting on inclined solid wall

        The spreading behavior of a 3D droplet impacting on inclined solid wall is presented by using a lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) with single component multiphase pseudopotential model. The time evolution of spreading factor, dimensionless spreading width, dimensionless height, dimensionless bottom area and adhesion force are obtained. Our numerical results show that when increasing the contact angle or inclination angle, the dimensionless height and the dimensionless bottom area increases but the dimensionless spreading length and spreading width decreases. In addition, the progresses of circumferential spreading in starting-up and spreading stages and the aggregation at front edge in retracting stage would be more obvious by decreasing the viscosity or increasing the Bond number.

        A New Practical System for Evaluating the Pharmacological Properties of Uricase as a Potential Drug for Hyperuricemia

        The use of uricase-deficient mammals to screen formulations of engineered uricases as potential drugs for hyperuricemia involves heavy costs and presents a technical bottleneck. Herein, a new practical system was investigated to evaluate the pharmacological significance of a bacterial uricase based on its ability to eliminate uric acid in plasma in vitro, its pharmacokinetics in vivo in healthy rats, and the modeled pharmacodynamics in vivo. This uricase, before and after modification with the monomethyl ether of poly(ethylene glycol)-5000, effectively eliminated uric acid in vitro in rabbit plasma, but its action was susceptible to xanthine inhibition. After intravenous injection of the modified uricase without purification, a bi-exponential model fit well to uricase activities in vivo in the plasma of healthy rats; the half-life of the modified uricase was estimated without interference from the unmodified uricase leftover in the sample and was nearly 100-fold longer than that of the unmodified uricase. Using a model of the elimination of uric acid in vivo taking into account of uricase pharmacokinetics and xanthine inhibition, modeled pharmacodynamics supported that the half-life of uricase and its susceptibility to xanthine are crucial for the pharmacological significance of uricase. Hence,this practical system is desirable for doing preliminary screening of formulations of engineered uricases as potential drugs for hyperuricemia.

        Review : The Role of Residues 103, 104, and 278 in the Activity of SMG1 Lipase from Malassezia globosa: A Site-Directed Mutagenesis Study

        The SMG1 lipase from Malassezia globosa is a newly found mono- and diacylglycerol (DAG) lipase that has a unique lid in the loop conformation that differs from the common alpha-helix lid. In the present study, we characterized the contribution of three residues, L103 and F104 in the lid and F278 in the rim of the binding site groove, on the function of SMG1 lipase. Sitedirected mutagenesis was conducted at these sites, and each of the mutants was expressed in the yeast Pichia pastoris, purified, and characterized for their activity toward DAG and pnitrophenol (pNP) ester. Compared with wild-type SMG1, F278A retained approximately 78% of its activity toward DAG, but only 11% activity toward pNP octanoate (pNP-C8). L103G increased its activity on pNP-C8 by approximately 2-fold, whereas F104G showed an approximate 40% decrease in pNP-C8 activity, and they both showed decreased activity on the DAG emulsion. The deletion of 103-104 retained approximately 30% of its activity toward the DAG emulsion, with an almost complete loss of pNP-C8 activity. The deletion of 103-104 showed a weaker penetration ability to a soybean phosphocholine monolayer than wild-type SMG1. Based on the modulation of the specificity and activity observed, a pNP-C8 binding model for the ester (pNP-C8, N102, and F278 form a flexible bridge) and a specific lipidanchoring mechanism for DAG (L103 and F104 serve as “anchors” to the lipid interface) were proposed.

        Sequence analysis and expression of the calmodulin gene, MCaM-3, in mulberry (Morus L.)

        A full-length cDNA sequence encoding CaM from mulberry,which we designated MCaM-3 (GenBank accession No:GQ303247), was cloned based on mulberry expressed sequence tags(ESTs). Sequence analysis showed that MCaM-3is 951 base pairs in length, encoding 149 amino acids with a predicted molecular weight of 16.85 kD and an isoelectric point of 3.95. Online SMART analysis showed that the MCaM-3 protein has four EFh functional domains, which can bind calcium. The expression level of MCaM-3at different developmental stages in mulberry leaves and flowers and in different tissues was investigated. The results showed that MCaM-3 transcripts are most abundantly expressed in mature tissues, such as mature female flowers and climax leaves, and the expression level of the mRNA could be increased significantly under low temperature, drought, and salt stress conditions compared to the normal growth environment. This research will help us understand the resistance mechanism of functional genes in mulberry.
