        방사선 조사선량에 따른 백서 악하선의 caspase-3 발현양상

        Purpose : To investigate the caspase-3 expression in the acinar and ductal cells of rat submandibular glands after the irradiation of various doses. Materials and Methods: The male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing approximately 250 gm were used for this study. The experimental group was irradiated with a single absorbed dose of 2, 5, 10, and 15 Gy on the head and neck region. The rats were sacrificed on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th day after irradiation. The specimens including the submandibular gland were sectioned and observed using histopathological and immunohistochemical methods. Results : The local destruction of the acinar and ductal cells and the karyopyknotic nuclei of the acinar cells were observed in the 2 Gy and 5 Gy irradiation groups later than in the 10 Gy and 15 Gy irradiation groups. And the expression of caspase-3 was prominent only in the ductal cells in the 2 Gy and 5 Gy irradiation groups. Conclusion : This experiment suggests that radiation-induced apoptosis in the ductal cells of rat submandibular glands was induced by a low dose radiation associated with the activation of caspase-3 and radiation-induced necrosis was induced by a high dose radiation.       • Comparative analysis of MnSOD and Cu/ZnSOD genes by various stress from Hyphantria cunea

        A MnSOD gene was cloned from the fall webworm, H. cunea. The MnSOD cDNAs encode precursor proteins of 215 amino acid residues. The deduced amino acid sequences of the H. cunea MnSOD cDNA showed 76% identity to B. mori MnSOD and 62-56% to MnSOD sequences from other organisms. MnSOD and Cu/ZnSOD in H. cunea is expressed from all tissues. MnSOD expression is changed at a trace level in infected larvae, while Cu/ZnSOD expression is strongly changed against bacteria, and fungi. The expression level of Cu/ZnSOD increased by different artificial photoperiod (24L:0D), UV irradiation (312nm), and starvation condition, while the expression level of MnSOD only increased by starvation condition. Also, expression of MnSOD and Cu/ZnSOD showed no significant change in 0L:24D condition. In addition to expression levels of Cu/ZnSOD in H. cunea significantly increased by temperature stress and injection with paraquat, but reduced by injection with 10% H2O2. The expression level of MnSOD significantly increased by temperature stress and reduced by injection with 10% H2O2 and paraquat.

      • Hyphantria cunea hemocytic STAT is activated in response to microorganism infection

        A new insect member of the STAT family of transcription factors (HcSTAT) has been cloned from the lepidopteran, Hyphantria cunea. The domain involved in DNA interaction and the SH2 domain are well conserved. The gene is transcribed at a low level during all stages of development, and transcribed in hemocyte, fat body, midgut, epidermis, and Malpighian tubule. Especially, hemocyte and Malpighian tubule showed transcriptional activation of HcSTAT upon Gram-negative and -positive bacteria challenge. Gram-negative and -positive bacteria challenge specifically results in nuclear translocation of HcSTAT protein and induction of DNA-binding activity that recognizes a STAT target site in H. cunea hemocyte. In vivo treatment with sodium orthovanadatetranslocates HcSTAT to the nucleus in hemocyte cells.

        Reactive oxygen species (ROS) is toxic to living organisms, because its high reactivity causes oxidative damage to proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an enzyme facilitating the removal of superoxide anions from living organisms. This study focused on the cloning of MnSOD cDNA from Hyphantria cunea and its induction upon bacterial infection and various stresses. The open reading frame of MnSOD is composed of 645 bp, encoding 215 amino acid residues. The theoretical molecular mass and pI of putative MnSOD was evaluated to be 24276 Da and 9.14, respectively. The MnSOD from H. cunea is highly similar to human MnSOD (59.5%) as well as Bombyx mori MnSOD (76.2%). MnSOD showed no big induction upon bacterial infection and stresses, compared to that of Cu/ZnSOD.

        Effects of Ankle Joint Taping on Postural Balance Control in Stroke Patients

        This study aims to examine the effects of taping of the ankle joint on the static and dynamic balance and gait ability of stroke patients. Twenty-six stroke patients receiving physical therapy at a hospital located in Gyeonggi-do were divided equally into a group that had taping in physical therapy and an ordinary physical therapy group. They exercised for 30 minutes each, 3 times per week for 8 weeks from June to August 2011. Romberg’s eye open and eye closed tests, limits of stability(LOS), forward and back test, timed up and go test(TUG) and 10-meter gait velocity test were performed to evaluate static balance, dynamic balance, and gait ability, respectively, prior to and 8 weeks after the intervention. Differences within each group in relation to the lapse of time were compared by a paired t-test. Differences between the two groups were compared by an independent t-test. Regarding comparison of differences within each group, all tests resulted in significant changes in both groups after the intervention (p<.05). Comparison of differences between the two groups showed that taping in the physical therapy group had significantly better test results than the ordinary physical therapy group in all measured items(p<.05). The after effects of ankle taping on stroke patients are more efficient and effective than ordinary physical therapy alone in improving balance and gait ability.

        토양컬럼을 이용한 테트라사이클린계 및 설폰아마이드계 항생물질의 이동특성 평가

        항생물질은 기생충의 박멸, 질병의 예방과 치료, 생장촉진 등을 목적으로 이용되는 생리적 활성도가 높은 물질이다. 항생물질은 투여량의 20~30% 만이 사용되며 나머지는 배출되기 때문에 과량 사용시 환경으로 유입되어 내성 박테리아의 출현을 야기할 수 있다. 최근 들어 수질에서 잔류 항생물질에 대한 모니터링 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으나 국내의 경우 토양에 관한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 국내 사용량이 높은 tetracycline 계열 및 sulfonamide 계열 항생물질을 선정하여 토양 컬럼에서 토양 깊이별 그리고 침출수로의 이동성을 평가하였다. 항생물질 중 tetracycline 계열 3종(tetracycline, chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline)은 토양에서의 질량 회수율이 28.00~44.11%로 나타나 침출수의 질량 회수율 (10.54~27.43%) 보다 높게 조사되었다. 이는 tetracycline 계열 항생물질의 높은 흡착계수(Kd)로 인해 점토광물 및 양이온과 강하게 흡착함으로서 침출수에는 소량이 검출된 것으로 판단되었다. 한편 sulfonamide 계열 2종(sulfamethazine와 sulfathiazole)은 침출수에서의 질량 회수율이 23.19~26.20%로 토양의 질량회수율(10.41~14.21%)보다 높게 나타났다. 이는 sulfonamide 계열 항생물질이 상대적으로 낮은 흡착계수 값을 지녀 토양에서의 이동성이 높기 때문으로 판단되었고 환경 중 유거수(runoff)를 통해 쉽게 이동할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. Antibiotics are biologically active substances and commonly used for therapeutic treatment of infectious disease in humans and for treating and protecting the health of animals. In recent years, antibiotics have attracted worldwide attention because of their side effects on the environment. Consequently, efforts have been made to monitor the residual of antibiotics in the environment. This study tested the mobility of tetracyclines and sulfonamides in soil and leachate through column experiments. The three tetracycline antibiotics showed higher mass recovery rates in all kinds of soils(28.00~44.11%) than in leachate(10.54~27.43%). This seems attributable to the high adsorption coefficient values(Kd) of tetracyclines representing strong and active adsorbability to organic and mineral phases in soil, ending up relatively small amount being detected in surface water. By contrast, the sulfonamides(sulfamethazine and sulfathiazole) showed higher mass recovery rates in leachate(23.19~26.20%) compared to in soil(10.41~14.21%) due to lower adsorption coefficient values and higher mobility of sulfonamides, enabling easier movement to surface water through the runoff in the environment.

        용무도수련이 초등학생의 신체구성과 건강체력 및 균형능력에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 2016년 3월부터 2016년 6월까지 D시에 거주하는 10~13세의 초등학생 80명으로 하였으며, 용무도 수련이 초등학생(EG/40명, CG/40명)의 신체구성과 체력 및 균형능력에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 그룹별 신체구성(체중, BMI, 체지방률, 복부지방률, 기초대사량)의 변화와 체력(근력, 근지구력, 유연성, 민첩성, 순발력, 심폐지구력) 및 정적균형능력을 알아보았다. 용무도 수련 후 신체구성변인의 변화는 EG 그룹에서 체중, BMI, 체지방률, 기초 대사량이 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 그룹 간 차이에서는 체중, BMI, 체지방률, 기초대사량에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 용무도 수련 후 체력변인에 관한 연구에서는 두 집단 모두에서 근력, 근지구력, 유연성, 민첩성, 순발력, 심폐지구력이 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, 그룹 간 차이에서는 근지구력이 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 용무도 수련 후 균형능력에 관한 연구에서는 EG 그룹에서 좌측과 우측에서 통계 적으로 유의하게 나타났으며, CG 그룹에서는 전방과 후방에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 또한, 그룹 간 차이에서는 전방과 후방에서 통계적으로 유의하게 나타났다. 위의 결과로 보아, 용무도 수련이 초등학생의 신체구성과 체력 및 균형능력의 변화에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. This study was to investigate the effects of Yong Mu Do training on body composition and physical fitness and Balance in the elementary students. The participants were divided into two groups: Exercise group (n=40) and Control group (n=40). The Yong Mu Do training program for 12 weeks. The results of this study were as follows: First, there were significantly decreased in body weight, body mass index, body fat percentage, basal metabolic rate. Second, there were significantly increased in muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and agility. Third, there were significantly increased in UP, Down, Left, Right Balance abilities. As conclusions, this study confirmed that the Yong Mu Do training could improve the body composition and physical fitness of elementary students.

      • The Korean Large Vocabulary Continuous Speech Recognition Platform

        For educational and research purposes, we design and evaluate a Korean speech recognition platform to build a decoder. The platform has an object‐oriented architecture so that researchers can modify the platform easily and evaluate the performance of a recognition algorithm of their interests. The platform has the following functionalities: Noise reduction, speech detection, feature extraction, hidden Markov model (HMM)‐based acoustic modeling, cross‐word modeling, ngram language modeling, n‐best search, word graph generation, and Korean‐specific language processing. The platform can handle both lexical search trees for large vocabulary speech recognition, and finite‐state networks for small‐tomedium vocabulary speech recognition. It performs the word‐dependent n‐best search algorithm with a bigram language model in the first forward search stage, then extracts a word lattice, and finally rescores the lattice with a trigram language model in the second backward search stage. In a large vocabulary continuous speech recognition task, we compare the performance of the platform with HTK and Julius.
