As the movement for carbon neutrality spreads around the world, research on hydrogen energy is also being actively conducted. In the hydrogen value chain, liquefaction is a particularly energy-intensive process. Although the operating energy of the hydrogen liquefaction process can vary greatly depending on the season or regional cooling water temperature, previous studies have not taken this into account. In this study, we quantitatively identify the effect of the change in cooling water temperature on exergy destruction, specific energy consumption (SEC), and coefficient of performance (COP) of the liquefaction process. In addition, we propose a design improvement to reduce exergy destruction with the exergy analysis of multi-stream heat exchangers. A new design (auxiliary process) that reduces exergy destruction is proposed by analyzing the device where energy destruction occurs the most. When the cooling water temperature increases from 20 °C to 35 °C, there is a tendency for SEC and exergy destruction to increase and the COP to decrease. The new design with an auxiliary process shows a decrease in SEC and a reduced rate of increase in SEC in response to the increase in cooling water temperature. The base case without the auxiliary cycle shows that the SEC with cooling water of 35 °C is 14.66% greater than that with cooling water of 20 °C, while the proposed process shows the rate of increase of 9.70%. This means that adding the auxiliary cycle can improve the energy efficiency and increase robustness to variations in ambient conditions.

<P>Childhood trauma can lead to various psychological and cognitive symptoms. It has been demonstrated that high frequency electroencephalogram (EEG) powers could be closely correlated with inattention. In this study, we explored the relationship between high frequency EEG powers, inattention, symptoms of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and childhood traumatic experiences. A total of 157 healthy Korean adult volunteers were included and divided into two groups using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) score. The subjective inattention scores, ADHD scale, and anxiety and depression symptom were evaluated. EEG was recorded and quantitative band powers were analyzed. The results were as follows: (1) the high CTQ group showed significantly increased delta, beta1, beta2, beta3 and gamma, and significantly decreased low alpha power compared to the low CTQ group; (2) the high CTQ group had higher inattention score compared to the low CTQ group; (3) the high CTQ group had higher adult ADHD scores; (4) CTQ scores showed significant positive correlations with inattention scores, and adult ADHD scores; (5) unexpectedly, the inattention scores showed significant positive correlations with beta powers and a negative correlation with low alpha power; and (6) the moderated mediation model was confirmed: the depression fully mediated the path from state anxiety to inattention, and the CTQ significantly moderated the pathway between anxiety and depression. Our results show the possibility that childhood adversity may cause subjective inattention and adult ADHD symptoms. Depressive symptoms fully mediated the path from anxiety to inattention, especially in those who report severe childhood traumatic experiences.</P>

Recently, the automobile trend has been changing to automotive electronics and large-scale. The number of products with in-vehicle displays is increasing in various ways, and Korean consumers preference for SUVs is also increasing day by day. Accordingly, the number of off-road vehicles user for camping is also on the rise in Korea. Therefore, it is necessary to develop automotive electronics and large-scale that can withstand harsher conditions than existing evaluation specifications in line with consumer preference trends, and quality guarantees for the products must also be made. For quality assurance, durability can be secured through vibration evaluation. In this paper, a vibration evaluation process was established to verify to improve the reliability of infotainment products in vehicles. Before performing the vibration evaluation, we checked the resonance point of the jig in accordance with the evaluation standard. Through this, an optimal vibration evaluation environment was built, and a vibration durability evaluation process was established by conducting random vibration evaluation in combination with a jig and a product. As a result, the evaluation environment was established to enable optimal product design by setting the evaluation environment through the vibration durability evaluation process and minimizing variables that may occur in the test environment.

In practical application of FGM(Functionally Gradient Material) into Machinery, the optimum gradient must be determined for its best function and the using condition. Generally, strain and strain energy are used as criterions to determine the optimum gradient of FGM, but the general gradient determinants concerning the temperature difference between matrix and reinforcement and the thickness of FGM and ratio of other material properties are rare. In this study, the temperature gradient and the volume fraction were set to solve the general determination of gradient of FGM with factors such as the temperature difference between matrix and reinforcement, the thickness of FGM and ratio of other material properties.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nurses’ experience of falls, and their perception of the status quo of inpatient fall interventions. Methods: The participants were 28 ward nurses in a university hospital, Seoul, Korea. Five focus group interviews and three individual interviews were conducted. The interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results: The findings from this study suggest that nurses face limitations in providing conventional fall interventions due to patient disease related characteristics, situations in hospital, and medical devices used in the hospital settings. Although nurses adopted their own strategies to prevent falls effectively, they expressed the need for innovative approaches to overcome these limitations. Conclusion: Systematic, technology-based approaches are needed to create a safer physical environment and to improve current nursing interventions to prevent falls.
Targeting mutant <i>KRAS</i> with CRISPR-Cas9 controls tumor growth

<P>KRAS is the most frequently mutated oncogene in human tumors, and its activating mutations represent important therapeutic targets. The combination of Cas9 and guide RNA from the CRISPR-Cas system recognizes a specific DNA sequence and makes a double-strand break, which enables editing of the relevant genes. Here, we harnessed CRISPR to specifically target mutant KRAS alleles in cancer cells. We screened guide RNAs using a reporter system and validated them in cancer cells after lentiviral delivery of Cas9 and guide RNA. The survival, proliferation, and tumorigenicity of cancer cells in vitro and the growth of tumors in vivo were determined after delivery of Cas9 and guide RNA. We identified guide RNAs that efficiently target mutant OAS without significant alterations of the wild-type allele. Doxycycline-inducible expression of this guide RNA in KRAS-mutant cancer cells transduced with a lentiviral vector encoding Cas9 disrupted the mutant KRAS gene, leading to inhibition of cancer cell proliferation both in vitro and in vivo. Intra-tumoral injection of lentivirus and adeno-associated virus expressing Cas9 and sgRNA suppressed tumor growth in vivo, albeit incompletely, in immunodeficient mice. Expression of Cas9 and the guide RNA in cells containing wild-type KIZAS did not alter cell survival or proliferation either in vitro and in vivo. Our study provides a proof-of-concept that CRISPR can be utilized to target driver mutations of cancers in vitro and in vivo.</P>

Since air pollution due to automobiles has been serious globally, various studies on the reduction of exhaust emissions have been conducted actively to meet emission standards by many countries specially in advanced countries. However, so far the automotive technology mainly focused on the development of engine itself has reached its limitation of technology. Thus future automobile technology must depend on the development of clean fuel. This research aims to investigate engine power and emissions by the blending rates of fuel additive in a single cylinder engine and also behavior of name propagation inside a constant volume chamber. In this test, comparison study was made by using a sub-octane and blending rates of ethanol(3, 6, 10%), ETBE(7.1, 14.2, 23.6%), and MTBE(6.1, 12.3, 20.4%) respectively.
