A 4-bit Multiplier Using a Two Phase Drive Adiabatic Dynamic CMOS Logic
Yasuhiro Takahashi,Toshikazu Sekine,Michio Yokoyama 대한전자공학회 2007 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2007 No.7
This paper describe the design and VLSI implementation of a multiplier using an adiabatic logic which is called a two phase drive adiabatic dynamic CMOS logic (2PADCL) circuit. Circuit operation and performance has been evaluated using a 4×4-bit 2PADCL multiplier fabricated in a 1.2 ㎛ CMOS process. The experimental results show that the multiplier was operated with clock frequencies 800㎑. The total power dissipation of the 4×4-bit 2PADCL multiplier was also 5.19 ㎽ at the 1.5 VDC power supply voltage.

This presentation is an attempt to consider "establishing scholarship one`s will" as preached by Toju Nakae (1608-48), named "the founder of the Japanese doctrines of Wang Yang-Ming". Because an original opinion is not to be found in his understanding of this "will" concept, it has not been mentioned in the preceding studies. However, the areas in which Toju mentions "will" are characteristic of him alone. Toju preached this doctrine for disciples who failed in study due to lack of diligence; asserting that "Establishing scholarship one`s will" was indispensable to successful study above all other factors. However, there were disciples who could not succeed even when making scholarship their "will". For such disciples, Toju taught that anyone could reach a position of comfort and wellbeing if they mastered study. Through such instruction, Toju encouraged his disciples. Toju could do no more than encourage his students; believing, as he did, that his disciples must give rise to the will to study by themselves. In Toju`s later years, there were certain changes in the nuance of this teaching. Toju came to preach "Establishing scholarship your will" as an aspect of one`s reading of Chinese classics of Confucianism. Toju thought that reading was the gate of scholarship. This stance was held in common with the late 16th century Korean scholar of Confucianism I Yul-gok. According to classical Neo Confucianism, however, reading without will to study is meaningless. Thus, it may be argued that the problem of "will" with which Toju was concerned was a problem which spread throughout East Asian Confucian world.

Background/Aims: We retrospectively analyzed Crohn’s disease (CD) patients with small intestinal strictures who underwent single-balloon enteroscopy (SBE) to ascertain whether prototype SBEs with a passive bending mechanism and high force transmission insertion tube had better insertability in the small intestine than a conventional SBE. Methods: Among 253 CD patients who underwent SBE, we identified 94 CD patients who had undergone attempted endoscopic balloon dilatation (EBD) for small intestinal stenosis for inclusion in this study. We analyzed whether the type of scope used for their initial procedure affected the cumulative surgery-free rate. For the insertability analysis, patients who underwent SBE at least twice were divided into 3 groups according to the type of scope used: conventional SBE only, prototype SBE only, and both conventional and prototype SBEs. For each group, depth of insertion, procedure time, and number of EBDs were compared in the same patient at different time points. Results: The success rate of EBD was 88.3%. The 5- and 10-year cumulative surgery-free rate was 75.7% and 72.8%, respectively. Cox regression analysis indicated that the factors contributing to surgery were long stricture (≥2 cm), EBD failure, and elevated Crohn’s Disease Activity Index, but not the type of scope used for EBD. The prototype SBEs significantly improved the depth of insertion (P=0.03, Wilcoxon’s signed-rank test). Conclusions: In CD patients with small intestinal stenosis, the prototype SBEs with a passive bending mechanism and high force transmission insertion tube did not improve long-term EBD outcome but did improve deep insertability. This study aimed to profile the microflora in infected root canals before and after root canal treatment using cultureindependent methods. Six infected root canals in singlerooted teeth with periapical lesions from five subjects were included. Quantification of total bacteria was performed by real-time PCR with primers targeting 16S rRNA genes. PCR products with universal 16S rRNA gene primers were cloned and partially sequenced, and bacterial identification at the species level was performed by comparative analysis with the GenBank database. The concentration of extracted DNA before treatment was higher than that after root canal treatment, although the difference was not statistically significant. Sequence analysis revealed that oral bacteria such as Fusobacterium, Streptococcus, Olsenella, and Pseudoramibacter detected in cases before root canal treatment disappeared after treatment. These results suggest that the root canal microflora are distinct before and after root canal treatment, and that treatment changes the microflora in both quantity and quality.
Method of Optimal Allocation of SVR in Distribution Feeders with Renewable Energy Sources
Takahashi, Shuhei,Hayashi, Yasuhiro,Tsuji, Masaki,Kamiya, Eiji The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2012 The Journal of International Council on Electrical Vol.2 No.2
In this paper, the authors propose a determination method of optimal allocation and transfer of step voltage regulators (SVRs) in distribution feeders with renewable energy sources (RES). The feature of the proposed method is to determine optimal allocation and transfer of SVRs based on the forecasted amount of PV introduced to distribution feeders a few years later and cooperative controlling of SVRs and LRT. In the proposed method, voltage margin is maximized under a constraint that all the node voltages are controlled within the proper range for a certain period of years. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, the optimal allocation and transfer of SVRs obtained by the proposed method is compared with the optimal one of the conventional approach. In the numerical simulation results, the number of transfer and install of SVR with the proposed method is reduced from those of conventional method.
