        박길현,박종환,양승현 朝鮮大學校 建設技術硏究所 2007 建設技術硏究 Vol.27 No.1

This paper deals with the strengthening method for the Increase durability of the reinforced concrete structures with Chloride Damage, and the purpose of this research is to develop the construction method and materials for extending the lower cross-section of the structures which is set up on the sea. Accordingly, a reinforced concrete pier, which has serious damage at the lower cross-section, is adopted as the subject structure for the study. In the cases of repairing or extending the lower cross-section for the structural reinforcement like the matter in this study, the most important component of choosing an method is the adhesion between the boundary sides of the existing and new concrete, and as the operation is taken on the sea, the material and method, which suit to the ocean surroundings and operating condition, should be chosen. The structural properties and operation condition taken into consideration, the material, which causes far less pollutant and have much better adhesion and strength, is developed, and with this material, this study indicates the best strengthening method to minimize the amount of rebound and to prevent the joints from breaking out. The lower cross-section extension work of the subject is executed with the newly-developed material and the method for strengthening, and as a result of the quality inspection, the material and method prove their superiority since the compression, ultimate and adhesion strength of the concrete was huge, and the adhesion between the glass fiber and the section extended is great. As the material and the strengthening method developed in this study bring about little possibilities of polluting the ocean, make it easy to operate on the sea, and have great adhesion not only between the existing and new concrete but also among each mortar layers, they are considered to be very suit to strengthening and extension of the reinforced concrete structure set up on the sea.

양승정 ( Seung Joung Yang ),진천식 ( Cheon Sik Jin ),조명래 ( Myung Rae Cho ) 대한경락경혈학회 2001 Korean Journal of Acupuncture Vol.18 No.1

We examined and referred to some literatures on the meaning, Dai meridian and Meridian points of joining with circulation of Dai meridian through literatures of every generation. And then we came to get a few conclusions as follows. 1. Dai meridian starts below the hypochondriac region. Running obliquely downward, it runs transversely around the waist like a belt. Its function is to bind up all the meridians to circulate in a proper way. 2. The coalescent points of dai meridian are Daimai(帶脈), Wushu(五樞) and Weidao(維道). 3. Location of Daimai(帶脈) is on the lateral side of the abdomen, 1.8 cun below Zhangmen(章門), at the crossing point of vertical line through the free end of the 11th rib and a horizontal line through the umbilicus. Location of Wushu(五樞) is on the lateral side of the abdomen, anterior to the anterosuperior iliac spine, 3 cun below the level of the umbilicus. Location of Weidao(維道) is on the lateral side of the abdomen, anterior and inferior to the anterosuperior iliac spine, 0.5 cun anterior and inferior to Wushu(五樞). 4. Indication of Daimai(帶脈) is irregular menstruation, leukorrhea with reddish discharge, hernia, pain in the lumbar and hypochondriac region. Indication of Wushu(五樞) is prolapse of the uterus, leukorrhea with reddish discharge, irregular menstruation, hernia, pain in the lower abdomen, constipation and lumbosacral pain. Indication of Weidao(維道) is edema, pain in the side of the lower abdomen, prolapse of the uterus, hernia and morbid leukorrhea. 5. The Dai meridian binds all meridians, produces pregnancy, grasps lumbar and abdomen region and controls leukorrhea. 6. Diseases of the Dai meridian manifested as distention and fullness in the lumbar region and abdomen, leukorrhea with reddish discharge, pain the navel, lumbar and spinal regions, flaccidity and hypoactivity of the lower limbs, etc.

      • High-throughput nucleotide sequence analysis of diverse bacterial communities in leachates of decomposing pig carcasses

Yang, Seung Hak,Lim, Joung Soo,Khan, Modabber Ahmed,Kim, Bong Soo,Choi, Dong Yoon,Lee, Eun Young,Ahn, Hee Kwon Sociedade Brasileira de Genética 2015 Genetics and molecular biology Vol.38 No.3

<P>The leachate generated by the decomposition of animal carcass has been implicated as an environmental contaminant surrounding the burial site. High-throughput nucleotide sequencing was conducted to investigate the bacterial communities in leachates from the decomposition of pig carcasses. We acquired 51,230 reads from six different samples (1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 14 week-old carcasses) and found that sequences representing the phylum Firmicutes predominated. The diversity of bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequences in the leachate was the highest at 6 weeks, in contrast to those at 2 and 14 weeks. The relative abundance of Firmicutes was reduced, while the proportion of Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria increased from 3–6 weeks. The representation of phyla was restored after 14 weeks. However, the community structures between the samples taken at 1–2 and 14 weeks differed at the bacterial classification level. The trend in pH was similar to the changes seen in bacterial communities, indicating that the pH of the leachate could be related to the shift in the microbial community. The results indicate that the composition of bacterial communities in leachates of decomposing pig carcasses shifted continuously during the study period and might be influenced by the burial site.</P>

음낭외상 : 임상상과 술전 음낭 초음파의 진단적 가치

        양달모,문재천,조승필,이종복 대한외상학회 1996 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.9 No.1

In patients with traumatized scrotum, the decsion whether to continue medical therapy or explore surgically is difficult. We have experienced 36 cases of scrotal trauma during the period frorn Jan. 1991 to Dec. 1994. The most common cause of the scrotal trauma was traffic accident and the next was kicking. The incidence of testicular rupture in patients with scrotal trauma was 33.3%. We reviewed 24 operated cases of scrotal trauma, 18 cases of them were evaluated with ultrasonography preoperatively. 9 of 10 cases with the rupture of tunica albuginea were correctly diagnosed by ultrasonography. We suggest that the scrotal ultrasonography is necessary preoperatively in scrotal trauma and testicular salvage rates can be improved markedly when early surgical correction of a ruptured tunica albuginea is performed.

Isolation and Characterization of Novel Denitrifying Bacterium Geobacillus sp. SG-01 Strain from Wood Chips Composted with Swine Manure

        Yang, Seung-Hak,Cho, Jin-Kook,Lee, Soon-Youl,Abanto, Oliver D.,Kim, Soo-Ki,Ghosh, Chiranjit,Lim, Joung-Soo,Hwang, Seong-Gu Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.11

Nitrate contamination in ground and surface water is an increasingly serious environmental problem and only a few bacterial strains have been identified that have the ability to remove nitrogen pollutants from wastewater under thermophilic conditions. We therefore isolated thermophilic facultative bacterial strains from wood chips that had been composted with swine manure under aerated high temperature conditions so as to identify strains with denitrifying ability. Nine different colonies were screened and 3 long rod-shaped bacterial strains designated as SG-01, SG-02, and SG-03 were selected. The strain SG-01 could be differentiated from SG-02 and SG-03 on the basis of the method that it used for sugar utilization. The 16S rRNA genes of this strain also had high sequence similarity with Geobacillus thermodenitrificans $465^T$ (99.6%). The optimal growth temperatures ($55^{\circ}C$), pH values (pH 7.0), and NaCl concentrations (1%) required for the growth of strain SG-01 were established. This strain reduced 1.18 mM nitrate and 1.45 mM nitrite in LB broth after 48 h of incubation. These results suggest that the G. thermodenitrificans SG-01 strain may be useful in the removal of nitrates and nitrites from wastewater generated as a result of livestock farming.

Characterization of Microbial Community in the Leachate Associated with the Decomposition of Entombed Pigs

( Yang Seung Hak ),( Sun Hwa Hong ),( Sung Back Cho ),( Joung Soo Lim ),( Sung Eun Bae ),( Hee Kwon Ahn ),( Eun Young Lee ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2012 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.22 No.10

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is one of the acute infectious diseases in hoofed and even-toed mammals, including pigs, and it occurs via acute infection by Aphthovirus. When FMD is suspected, animals around the location of origin are typically slaughtered and buried. Other methods such as rendering, composting, and incineration have not been verified in practice in Korea. After the FMD incident, the regular monitoring of the microbial community is required, as microorganisms greatly modify the characteristics of the ecosystem in which they live. This is the result of their metabolic activities causing chemical changes to take place in the surrounding environment. In this study, we investigated changes in the microbial community during a 24 week period with DNA extracts from leachate, formed by the decomposition of buried pigs at a laboratory test site, using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) with a genomic DNA. Our results revealed that Bacteroides coprosuis, which is common in pig excreta, and Sporanaerobacter acetigenes, which is a sulfur-reduced microbe, were continuously observed. During the early stages (0~2 weeks) of tissue decomposition, Clostridium cochlearium, Fusobacterium ulcerans, and Fusobacterium sp., which are involved in skin decomposition, were also observed. In addition, various microbes such as Turicibacter sanguinis, Clostridium haemolyticum, Bacteroides propionicifaciens, and Comamonas sp. were seen during the later stages (16~24 weeks). In particular, the number of existing microbial species gradually increased during the early stages, including the exponential phase, decreased during the middle stages, and then increased again during the later stages. Therefore, these results indicate that the decomposition of pigs continues for a long period of time and leachate is created continuously during this process. It is known that leachate can easily flow into the neighboring environment, so a long-term management plan is needed in burial locations for FMD-infected animals.

Reverse transcriptase‐polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical studies for detection of prostate stem cell antigen expression in prostate cancer: Potential value in molecular staging of prostate cancer

Joung, Jae Young,Yang, Seung Ok,Jeong, In Gab,Han, Kyung Suk,Seo, Ho Kyung,Chung, Jinsoo,Park, Weon Seo,Lee, Kang Hyun Blackwell Publishing Asia 2007 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF UROLOGY Vol.14 No.7

<P><B>Objectives: </B> To determine whether detection of prostate stem cell antigen (PSCA) expression has potential for molecular staging in prostate cancer (PCa), we examined the relationship between established prognostic factors, biochemical recurrence (BCR) and PSCA expression.</P><P><B>Methods: </B> This study was comprised of 66 patients who underwent radical prostatectomy for the treatment of PCa. We employed reverse transcriptase‐polymerase chain reaction (RT‐PCR) to detect PSCA mRNA‐bearing cells in peripheral blood, and used immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques to identify PSCA protein expression in microarrayed tissue.</P><P><B>Results: </B> PSCA‐mRNA was detected in the peripheral blood of nine (13.6%) patients by RT‐PCR. Whereas 3.2% of patients with low‐grade disease were PSCA positive, 22.9% of patients with high‐grade disease were PSCA positive (<I>P</I> = 0.030). There was also a significant relationship of RT‐PCR PSCA positivity to whether or not the tumor was confined to the prostate. Whereas only 6.8% of patients with prostate‐confined disease were RT‐PCR PSCA positive, 27.3% of extraprostatic diseases were RT‐PCR PSCA positive (<I>P</I> = 0.022). IHC studies of tumor tissue microarrays demonstrated that PSCA expression intensity was related to both extraprostatic extension (<I>P</I> = 0.014) and positive surgical margin (<I>P</I> = 0.053). Whereas 23.8% of prostate‐confined diseases were high intensity, 54.5% of extraprostatic diseases were high intensity. BCR developed in seven patients (10.6%) during the follow‐up period (median, 16.2 months; range, 9–25 months). Prognostic factors increasing the risk of BCR included: seminal vesicle invasion (<I>P</I> = 0.004), extraprostatic disease (<I>P</I> = 0.019), lymphovascular emboli (<I>P</I> = 0.036) and RT‐PCR PSCA positivity (<I>P</I> = 0.004) in univariate analysis.</P><P><B>Conclusions: </B> We were able to detect PSCA mRNA‐bearing cells in peripheral blood by RT‐PCR, and also identify PSCA protein expression in tumors by IHC analysis of tissue microarrays. RT‐PCR PSCA positivity in peripheral blood may be a potential modality for molecular staging of PCa.</P>

N-Anthracenylmethyl Calix[4]azacrowns as New Fluorescent Ionophores

        Yang, Seung-H.,Shon, Ok-J.,Park, Ki-M.,Lee, Shim-S.,Park, Ho-J.,Kim, Moon-J.,Lee, Joung-H.,Kim, Jong-S. Korean Chemical Society 2002 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.23 No.11

Two novel calixarene-based fluoroionophores were synthesized. Their conformations were confirmed to 1,3-alternate by X-ray crystal structures. From CHEF by blocking the PET mechanism in fluorescence spectra, we observed $In^{3+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ selectivity over other metal ions. For $In^{3+}$ion, calix[4]-bis-azacrown-5 showed about 20 times more sensitive than calix[4]-mono-azacrown-5 because the source of the binding selectivity comes from the calixarene framework and azacrown ligand by controlling the fluorescence and PET mechanisms as-sociated with the amine moiety.
