Effects of Heat Treatments on Puncture Resistant Properties of Polyamine and Polyamide-based Nonwoven Fabrics

        Ting Ru Lin,Yan-Yu Lin,Ting An Lin,Jia-Ci Jhang,Ching-Wen Lou,Jia-Horng Lin 한국섬유공학회 2020 Fibers and polymers Vol.21 No.9

In countries with severe gun regulations, soldiers and police officers are commonly attacked by sharp weapons. The current personal protective equipment is too heavy, and therefore, in this study, mechanically strong Kevlar® fibers, nylon fibers, and Low-melting-point polyester (LMPET) fibers are needle punched to make thin, light, and comfortablenonwoven fabrics. Hot-baking and hot-pressing heat treatments are used for thermal bonding fibers, which subsequentlygenerate a dense and rigid surface because nonwoven fabrics are subjected to damaged structure by needle punch or aslippery state due to the fibers’ properties. The results of the air permeability, tensile strength, and quasi-static stab resistancetestings verify that the dense surface is correlated with hot-pressing heat treatment.

Reinforcing Techniques and Property Evaluations of Electromagnetic Shielding Effective Fabrics Based on Polypropylene-coated Carbon Fibers

        Jan-Yi Lin,Mei-Chen Lin,Yan-Yu Lin,Ting An Lin,Chen-Hung Huang,Ching-Wen Lou,Jia-Horng Lin 한국섬유공학회 2021 Fibers and polymers Vol.22 No.3

In this study, the coating process is employed on metal wire to help improve the friction resistant property ofcarbon fibers, thereby provides more application feasibility. The yarn coating technique for reinforcement and woven fabricprocess are used to produce carbon/stainless steel/polyester/polypropylene/acrylic (CSPPA) woven fabrics that arecharacterized with softness and a light weight. The constituent coated yarns exhibit good conductivity after being coated witha PP layer, and likewise strengthen the woven fabrics in terms of mechanical behavior of tensile strength, elongation, bendingtorsion, creep resistance, and wear-resistant properties. The test results indicate that in the woven process, samples retaingood morphology. Due to PP sheath, the tensile strength of woven fabrics increases from 23 MPa to 42 MPa. Although thelamination layer numbers does not improve the EMI SE of woven fabrics, the EMI SE still reaches over 40 dB. Themanufacturing design proposed in this study provides an innovative finishing for carbon fibers without affecting the intrinsicproperties, and provides a greater range of application for carbon fibers.

Fuzzy Control with Pole Assignment and Variance Constraints for Continuous-time Perturbed Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Models: Application to Ship Steering Systems

        Wen-Jer Chang,Yan-Horng Lin,Jialu Du,Chih-Ming Chang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.10

The stability analysis and controller design of stochastic systems have become much more important because the stochastic behaviors usually exist in practical nonlinear systems. In this paper, a robust fuzzy controller design approach is proposed with multiple constraints, including state variance constraints, output variance constraints, and pole placement constraints. At first, nonlinear systems are expressed as the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, and the parallel distributed compensation method is applied to design the robust fuzzy controllers. Next, considering the stability analysis and the performance constraints of perturbed Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models, Lyapunov conditions are developed based on covariance control theory, pole placement theory and robust control theory. By constructing the stability conditions with multiple constraints, the proposed fuzzy control problem can be effectively transferred into the linear matrix inequality problem. It can be solved by the convex optimal programming algorithm. At last, a nonlinear ship steering system is selected to verify the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed robust fuzzy controller design method.

      • ONYX-I: Efficacy of Ombitasvir/Paritaprevir/Ritonavir + Dasabuvir in South Korean and Taiwanese Patients with HCV Genotype 1b Infection and without Cirrhosis

        ( Jeong Heo ),( Wan-Long Chuang ),( Yan Luo ),( Mong Cho ),( Chi-Jen Chu ),( Kwang-Hyub Han ),( Jia-Horng Kao ),( Seung Woon Paik ),( Chun-Yen Lin ),( Jin-Woo Lee ),( Cheng-Yuan Peng ),( Young-Suk Lim 대한간학회 2016 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2016 No.1

Background: Approximately 45-50% of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections in South Korea and Taiwan are genotype (GT) 1b. Previous phase 3 studies demonstrated that the direct-acting antiviral (DAA) regimen of ombitasvir (OBV), ritonavir-boosted paritaprevir (PTV/r; identified by Abbvie and Enanta) and dasabuvir (DSV) was well tolerated and achieved sustained virologic response at post-treatment week 12 (SVR12) in 99% of treatment-naive and 100% of treatment- experienced patients with HCV GT1b. ONYX-I (NCT02517515) was designed to evaluate efficacy and safety in Asian patients with HCV GT1b infection without cirrhosis. Methods: Treatment-naive and IFN-based therapy-experienced patients with HCV GT1b infection in South Korea, Taiwan, and China were randomized 1:1 to receive either OBV/PTV/r (25 mg/150 mg/100 mg once daily) and DSV (250 mg twice daily) or placebo for 12 weeks during the double-blind (DB) period. Patients in the placebo arm subsequently received OBV/PTV/r + DSV for 12 weeks during the open-label period. Patients will be followed for 48 weeks after last dose of study drugs. The primary objectives are to compare the SVR12 rates for the treatment-naive and -experienced patients to corresponding historical SVR rates of telaprevir + peg-interferon and ribavirin therapy, and assess the safety of the OBV/PTV/r + DSV regimen. Presented are results from the South Korean and Taiwanese populations. Results: In both South Korea and Taiwan, 120 patients were randomized and treated. Of South Korean patients, 45% were male, 33% were treatment-experienced and 89% had F0-F1 fibrosis. Of Taiwanese patients, 39% were male, 33% were treatment-experienced, and 87% had F0-F1 fibrosis. Safety data and SVR at post-treatment week 4 will be presented. Conclusions: The ONYX-I study is evaluating the safety and efficacy of DAA regimen, OBV/PTV/r + DSV, in Southeast Asian patients without cirrhosis infected with HCV GT1b. Resultant data may help inform treatment guidelines for HCV GT1b in this population.
