        Efficiency optimization of variable‑frequency controlled power factor correction converters

        More attention is being paid to energy effi ciency and harmonic reduction. Thus, power factor correction (PFC) is widely used in power supplies. However, under the condition of light load, the single-stage LLC PFC converter has the problems of low effi ciency and output voltage misaligned, such as other PFC topologies. Aiming at the problems that occur under light load conditions, this paper proposes a least-pulse delta (Δ)–sigma (Σ) modulation (LPΔ–Σ modulation). Under diff erent loads, the system can automatically select the appropriate pulse density and reduce the energy transfer to the secondary side by uniformly turning off the driving signals, which stabilizes the output voltage and improves the system effi ciency. Meanwhile, LPΔ–Σ modulation is more benefi cial for improving the PF value when compared with the burst mode under light load conditions. Experimental results show that LPΔ–Σ modulation based on the traditional dual-loop control can eff ectively stabilize the output voltage and improve effi ciency. When compared with the existing burst control scheme, it reduces the output voltage ripple and eff ectively improves the PF.

        Controlling-strategy design and working-principle demonstration of novel anti-winding marine propulsion

        A traditional propeller can easily become entangled with floating objects while operating. In this paper, we present a newly developed Electromagnetic-valve-control-based Water-jet Propulsion System (ECWPS) for an unmanned surface cleaning vessel that can be flexibly controlled via a Micro Control Unit (MCU). The double-structure was adapted to the unmanned surface cleaning vessel for floating-collection missions. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software for operating effect simulation was also used to reveal the working principle of the ECWPS under different conditions. Neglecting the assembly technique, the design level, controlling strategy, and maneuvering performance of the ECWPS reached unprecedented levels. The ECWPS mainly consists of an Electromagnetic-valve Array (EA), pipeline network, control system, and water-jet source. Both CFD analyses and experimental results show that the hydraulic characteristic of the ECWPS was predicted reasonably, which has enormous practical value and development prospects.

        Prefrontal cortex miR-29b-3p plays a key role in the antidepressant-like effect of ketamine in rats

        Ketamine has a rapid, obvious, and persistent antidepressant effect, but its underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. Recently, microRNAs (miRNAs) have emerged as important modulators of ketamine’s antidepressant effect. We investigated the alteration in miR-29b-3p in the brain of rats subjected to ketamine administration and chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS), and a sucrose preference test and forced swimming test were used to evaluate the rats’ depressive-like state. We used recombination adeno-associated virus (rAAV) or lentivirus-expressing miR-29b-3p to observe the change in metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (GRM4). Cell culture and electrophysiological recordings were used to evaluate the function of miR-29b-3p. Ketamine dramatically increased miR-29b-3p expression in the prefrontal cortex of the normal rats. The dual luciferase reporter test confirmed that GRM4 was the target of miR-29b- 3p. The miR-29b-3p levels were downregulated, while the GRM4 levels were upregulated in the prefrontal cortex of the depressive-like rats. The ketamine treatment increased miR-29b-3p expression and decreased GRM4 expression in the prefrontal cortex of the depressive-like rats and primary neurons. By overexpressing and silencing miR-29b-3p, we further validated that miR-29b-3p could negatively regulate GRM4. The silencing of miR-29b-3p suppressed the Ca2+ influx in the prefrontal cortex neurons. The miR-29b-3p overexpression contributed to cell survival, cytodendrite growth, increases in extracellular glutamate concentration, and cell apoptosis inhibition. The overexpression of miR- 29b-3p by rAAV resulted in a noticeable relief of the depressive behaviors of the CUMS rats and a lower expression of GRM4. The miR-29b-3p/GRM4 pathway acts as a critical mediator of ketamine’s antidepressant effect in depressive-like rats and could be considered a potential therapeutic target for treating major depression disorder.

        The Misaligned Coupling Improvement of Loosely Coupled Transformer with Multi-Receivers for IPT System

        The low coupling coeffi cient (CC) of loosely coupled transformer (LCT) can greatly aff ect the effi ciency of inductive power transfer (IPT) system. In order to improve the coupling coeffi cient and misaligned tolerance of LCT, this paper proposes a transformer structure with multiple independent small receiving coils. Respectively in ideal alignment and misalignment mode, the distribution of magnetic force lines and the variation law of CC of independent small receiving coils are analyzed. According to the relationship between the coupling coeffi cient matrix and the mutual inductance, the eff ective coupling coeffi cient (ECC) is deduced, and its variation with the misalignment distance is also analyzed. The ECC of the LCT with multi-receiver (MR) structure is almost unchanged. For the multiple loads' characteristics of receivers, by adopting S/P compensated topology, a 500 W outputs prototype of IPT system is established. The experimental results show that the ECC is improved and tolerance performance to lateral and rotational misalignment of proposed MR structure has good characteristics.
