Joint Channel Estimation and Equalization for MIMO-SCFDE Systems over Doubly Selective Channels
Zedong Xie,Xihong Chen,Xiaopeng Liu 한국통신학회 2017 Journal of communications and networks Vol.19 No.6
This paper considers a novel joint channel estimationand equalization (JCEE) algorithm for multiple-input-multipleoutputsingle-carrier frequency-domain-equalization (MIMOSCFDE)system over doubly selective channels for the first time. Given that the doubly selective channels can no longer support theassumption that the channel frequency-domain response remainsinvariant for the duration of one block, most of the channel estimationmethods cannot be applied directly in it. And the lack of theinformation interaction between channel estimation and channelequalization degrades the overall performance. We put forward anoise-eliminated minimum-mean-square-error channel estimation(MMSE-CE) algorithm for the initialization, which is then utilizedfor iterative processing using the ordered successive interferencecancellation (OSIC) technique. Analysis and simulation results validatethe improved performance of the proposed JCEE algorithmfor MIMO-SCFDE systems over doubly selective channels.

‘Lingwu Long’ jujube (Ziziphus jujuba cv. Mill) is a fresh fruit variety that is popular in China. Low temperature storage isan important method for retaining fruit quality postharvest. However, jujube fruits are susceptible to surface pitting underlow temperature storage. Therefore, we performed transcriptome analysis to investigate the changes in gene expression insurface-pitted jujube fruit (SPF). First, we developed cDNA libraries of SPF and surface-intact fruit (SIF) that had beenstored at − 1 ± 0.5 °C. As a result, 21,136,649 and 21,663,126 high-quality clean reads were generated and 47,386 contigswere obtained. Second, we performed sequences annotation by gene description and gene ontology (GO term) analysis, which clustered the genes into three functional groups. A total of 2706 predicted proteins were assigned to specific metabolicpathways by the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes database. An analysis of differential gene expression betweenSPF and SIF revealed more than 1210 genes that are differentially expressed in jujube in response to surface-pitting under lowtemperature storage, which are involved in lipid, carbohydrate, energy, amino acid, terpenoids, and polyketides metabolism,as well as membrane transport, signal transduction, translation, signal transduction, and biosynthesis of other secondarymetabolites. We investigated the pattern of phenylalanine ammonia lyase gene expression in SPF by quantitative reversetranscriptionPCR analysis. Our results provide new insights into the biology of surface pitting in jujube, which occurs underlow temperature storage. Our findings help confirm the low-temperature tolerance pathways that function in postharvest fruit.

Diseases caused by foodborne or waterborne pathogens are emerging. Many pathogens can enter into the viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state, which is a survival strategy when exposed to harsh environmental stresses. Pathogens in the VBNC state have the ability to evade conventional microbiological detection methods, posing a significant and potential health risk. Therefore, controlling VBNC bacteria in food processing and the environment is of great importance. As the typical one of the gram-negatives, Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a widespread foodborne and waterborne pathogenic bacterium and is able to enter into a VBNC state in extreme conditions (similar to the other gram-negative bacteria), including inducing factors and resuscitation stimulus. VBNC E. coli has the ability to recover both culturability and pathogenicity, which may bring potential health risk. This review describes the concrete factors (nonthermal treatment, chemical agents, and environmental factors) that induce E. coli into the VBNC state, the condition or stimulus required for resuscitation of VBNC E. coli, and the methods for detecting VBNC E. coli. Furthermore, the mechanism of genes and proteins involved in the VBNC E. coli is also discussed in this review.
