Transcriptome profiling of rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) discovers candidate regulators of the cold stress respo

        XiaoXiao Gong,Bing‑Yu Yan,Jin Hu,Cui‑Ping Yang,Yi‑Jian Li,Jin‑Ping Liu,Wen‑Bin Liao 한국유전학회 2018 Genes & Genomics Vol.40 No.11

Tropical plant rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is the sole source of commercial natural rubber and low-temperature stress is the most important limiting factor for its cultivation. To characterize the gene expression profiles of H. brasiliensis under the cold stress and discover the key cold stress-induced genes. Three cDNA libraries, CT (control), LT2 (cold treatment at 4 °C for 2 h) and LT24 (cold treatment at 4 °C for 24 h) were constructed for RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) and gene expression profiling. Quantitative real time PCR (qRT-PCR) was conducted to validate the RNA-Seq and gene differentially expression results. A total of 1457 and 2328 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in LT2 and LT24 compared with CT were respectively detected. Most significantly enriched KEGG pathways included flavonoid biosynthesis, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, plant hormone signal transduction, cutin, suberine and wax biosynthesis, Pentose and glucuronate interconversions, phenylalanine metabolism and starch and sucrose metabolism. A total of 239 transcription factors (TFs) were differentially expressed following 2 h or/and 24 h of cold treatment. Cold-response transcription factor families included ARR-B, B3, BES1, bHLH, C2H, CO-like, Dof, ERF, FAR1, G2-like, GRAS, GRF, HD-ZIP, HSF, LBD, MIKC-MADS, M-type MADS, MYB, MYB-related, NAC, RAV, SRS, TALE, TCP, Trihelix, WOX, WRKY, YABBY and ZF-HD. The genome-wide transcriptional response of rubber tree to the cold treatments were determined and a large number of DEGs were characterized including 239 transcription factors, providing important clues for further elucidation of the mechanisms of cold stress responses in rubber tree.

Survival and Performance of Two Cellulose-Degrading Microbial Systems Inoculated into Wheat Straw-Amended Soil

( Pei Pei Li ),( Dong Dong Zhang ),( Xiao Juan Wang ),( Xiao Fen Wang ),( Zong Jun Cui1 ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2012 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.22 No.1

A cellulose-degrading composite microbial system containing a mixture of microbes was previously shown to demonstrate a high straw-degrading capacity. To estimate its potential utilization as an inoculant to accelerate straw biodegradation after returning straw to the field, two cellulose-degrading composite microbial systems named ADS3 and WSD5 were inoculated into wheat straw-amended soil in the laboratory. The microbial survival of the inoculant was confirmed by a denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis, whereas the enhancement of straw degradation in soil was assessed by measuring the mineralization of the soil organic matter and the soil cellulase activity. The results indicated that most of the DGGE bands from ADS3 were detected after inoculation into straw-amended autoclaved soil, yet only certain bands from ADS3 and WSD5 were detected after inoculation into straw-amended non-autoclaved soil during five weeks of incubation; some bands were detected during the first two weeks after inoculation, and then disappeared in later stages. Organic matter mineralization was significantly higher in the soil inoculants ADS3 and WSD5 than in the uninoculated controls during the first week, yet the enhanced degradation did not persist during the subsequent incubation. Similar to the increase in soil organic matter, the cellulase activity also increased during the first week in the ADS3 and WSD5 treatments, yet decreased during the remainder of the incubation period. Thus, it was concluded that, although the survival and performance of the two inoculants did not persist in the soil, a significant enhancement of degradation was present during the early stage of incubation.

      • Prognostic Value of PLCE1 Expression in Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

        Cui, Xiao-Bin,Peng, Hao,Li, Su,Li, Ting-Ting,Liu, Chun-Xia,Zhang, Shu-Mao,Jin, Ting-Ting,Hu, Jian-Ming,Jiang, Jin-Fang,Liang, Wei-Hua,Li, Na,Li, Li,Chen, Yun-Zhao,Li, Feng Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.22

Background: A number of studies have identified a shared susceptibility locus in phospholipase C epsilon 1 (PLCE1) for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and gastric cardia adenocarcinomas (GCA). However, the results of PLCE1 expression in esophageal and gastric cancer remain inconsistent and controversial. Moreover, the effects on clinicopathological features remain undetermined. This study aimed to provide a precise quantification of the association between PLCE1 expression and the risk of ESCC and GCA through meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: Eligible studies were identified from PubMed, Wanfang Data, ISI Web of Science, and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure databases. Using RevMan5.2 software, pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were employed to assess the association of PLCE1 expression with clinicopathological features relative to ESCC or GCA. Results: Seven articles were identified, including 761 esophageal and gastric cancer cases and 457 controls. Overall, we determined that PLCE1 expression was associated with tumor progression in both esophageal cancers (pooled OR=5.93; 95%CI=3.86 to 9.11) and gastric cancers (pooled OR=9.73; 95%CI=6.46 to 14.7). Moreover, invasion depth (pooled OR=3.62; 95%CI=2.30 to 5.70) and lymph node metastasis (pooled OR=4.21; 95%CI=2.69 to 6.59) were linked with PLCE1 expression in gastric cancer. However, no significant associations were determined between PLCE1 overexpression and the histologic grade, invasion depth, and lymph node metastasis in esophageal cancer. Conclusions: Our metaanalysis results indicated that upregulated PLCE1 is significantly associated with an increased risk of tumor progression in ESCC and GCA. Therefore, PLCE1 expression can be appropriately regarded as a promising biomarker for ESCC and GCA patients.

Distinctive Slow β Relaxation and Its Impact on Mechanical Property of LaCe Based Bulk Metallic Glasses

        Xiao Cui,Jing Guo,Qi‑dong Zhang,Xiao‑jun Meng,Bing‑chuan Bian,Ren‑gao Zhao,Yu‑bai Ma,Fang‑qiu Zu 대한금속·재료학회 2020 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.26 No.10

The slow β relaxation which occurring at temperatures far below glass transition temperature, typically playing importantroles in the plastic deformation behavior of metallic glasses. Compared with polymer glasses, most of the metallic glasses donot exhibit obvious β relaxation based on dynamic mechanical analysis. In the current work, prominent β relaxation behaviorsof a series (LaxCe100−x) Al10Co25(x = 50, 60, 70, 80) bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) at low temperature are observed usingdynamic mechanical analysis. Compared with other BMGs, the LaCe based BMGs show a pronounced β relaxation peak andrelative low peak temperature, the activation energy of the β relaxation based on Arrhenius equation are calculated around79.3 kJ/mol to 86.4 kJ/mol, which obey an empirical rule that Eβ ≈ (26 ± 4) RTg, with the coefficient of 23. Experimentalresults from room temperature compression tests for the LaCe based BMGs indicate that low temperature activated β relaxationbehaviors facilitate the good plasticity of the LaCe based BMGs.

      • Research on Load Balance Method in SDN

Cui Chen-xiao,Xu Ya-bin 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.1

In order to improve the performance of data transmission in SDN, this paper proposes a load balance solution scheme by taking advantage of the global network view of SDN. We collect 4 load features from each transmission path. These features are bandwidth utilization ratio, packet loss rate, transmission latency and transmission hops. By using this 4 load features, BP Artificial Neural Network model is trained to predict the integrated load for different path and to choose one with least load as the data-flow transmission path. The contrast experiment results show that load balancing strategy proposed in this paper can select more rational transmission path for data-flow and achieve 19.3% network latency decrease at most.

      • Instability of a Viscoelastic Jet Containing Micro-nano Bubbles

( Xiao Cui ),( Luo Xie ),( Lijun Yang ) 한국액체미립화학회 2017 한국액체미립화학회 학술강연회 논문집 Vol.2017 No.-

An effervescent atomizer is a valid applications to obtain small droplets. It can potentially solve the problem of clogging, erosion, high injection pressure, huge gas consumption. To further improve the atomization performance of effervescent atomizer, it is critical to explore the theory behind the onset of instability of viscoelastic jet containing micro-nano bubbles. This paper study the linear instability of that jet surrounded by inviscid gas. Compressibility and viscoelasticity caused by micro-nano gas bubbles are taken into account, since that is consistent with the actual rheological property of jet (Llewellin E W, Mader H M, Sdr W. “The rheology of a bubbly liquid,” Proceedings Mathematical Physical & Engineering Sciences,(2020) 2002). Adopting the method of linear instability to analyze the temporal development of disturbance for jet and obtaining the relationship of wave number and growth rate by utilizing spectral method. It is found that a viscoelastic jet is more unstable than a Newtonian one. Moreover, results show that there exist two instable areas by considering the variation of the radii of gas bubbles and gas volume fraction of bubbles make a great influence of the instability of viscoelastic. The viscoelasticity and compressibility of the jet also make it unstable. To make out the deep mechanism of above results, an analysis of the energy budget of destabilization process is performed, in which a formulation from momentum conservation equation. The formulation is observed to provide a quantitative analysis of the contribution of each physical factor (e.g., release of surface energy, viscous dissipation and compressibility work). The energy analysis reveals that the viscous force, aerodynamic, surface tense common rules the instability of the bubble jet. The two unstable areas because of the competition of these forces.

Natural Organic Matter Removal and Fouling Control in Low-Pressure Membrane Filtration for Water Treatment

Xiao Jun Cui,Kwang Ho Choo 대한환경공학회 2014 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.19 No.1

Natural organic matter (NOM) is a primary component of fouling in low-pressure membrane filtration, either solely, or in concert with colloidal particles. Various preventive measures to interfere with NOM fouling have been developed and extensively tested, such as coagulation, oxidation, ion exchange, carbon adsorption, and mineral oxide adsorption. Therefore, this article aims to conduct a literaturere view covering the topics of low-pressure membrane processes, NOM characteristics and fouling behaviors, and diverse fouling control strategies. In-depth explanations and discussion are made regarding why some treatment options are able to remove NOM from source water, but do not reduce fouling. This review provides insight for hybridized membrane processes with respect to NOM removal and fouling mitigation in water treatment.

      • Interval-valued Analytic Network Process and its Application in Risk Assessment of Dynamic Alliance

        Xiao-Guang Zhou,Yan-Hui Zhou,Xiao-Xiao Cui 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of u- and e- Service, Scienc Vol.8 No.9

Analytic Network Process (ANP) has been widely used in solving many complicated decision making problems. An approach to acquire the comprehensive weights of interval-valued Analytic Network Process (IV-ANP) is proposed. Firstly, the independent local interval-valued weights are obtained by solving the goal programming for interval-valued pairwise comparison matrices. Based on the interaction and feedback relationships among criteria and/or indices, an unweighted interval-valued supermatrix is formed. To avoid loss of information, an extreme value method is developed for acquiring the global weights of IV-ANP. Secondly, the alternatives are ranked on the basis of interval-valued preference order. Finally, with the interaction and feedback relationships between criteria and/or indices being considered, an index system for assessing the risk of dynamic alliance is presented. With the uncertain and inaccurate information during the evaluation process being considered, the proposed IV-ANP method is applied for risk assessment of dynamic alliance, and sensitivity analyses for some key risk factors are performed to show their impacts on the risk levels of alliance enterprises.
