      • Profile-based Roughness Discrimination with Pen-type Texture Sensor

Ye, Xianming,Choi, Bynng-June,Kang, Sung-Chul,Choi, Hyouk-Ryeol 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 Transaction on control, automation and systems eng Vol. No.

Tactile discriminations of surface roughness using artificial sensors have been challenging. The modeling methods and parameters that have been using to describe the mechanical properties of rough surface are insufficient for haptic roughness. This paper proposes a method to characterize surface roughness based on the profiles of the surface. A compact handheld pen-type texture sensor with a right probe is developed for the measurement of surface profiles. Based on the contact force and the motion of the senor, profiles in the paths of scanning are estimated. The height variations of a profile are converted to a series of tactile stimuli to represent the contact stimulations in haptic explorations. The mean and the standard deviation of the amplitudes of stimuli are identified as haptic features that indicate the required tangential force to slide on the rough surface and how rough the surface is, respectively. Experiments show that the roughness on four kinds of sandpapers can he clearly distinguished by the proposed discrimination method.

Simplified PWM Strategy for Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) Three-Level Converter

Ye, Zongbin,Xu, Yiming,Li, Fei,Deng, Xianming,Zhang, Yuanzheng The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2014 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.14 No.3

A novel simplified pulse width modulation(PWM) strategy for neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level converter is proposed in this paper. The direct output voltage modulation is applied to reduce the calculation time. Based on this strategy, several optimized control methods are proposed. The neutral point potential balancing algorithm is discussed and a fine neutral point potential balancing scheme is introduced. Moreover, the minimum pulse width compensation and switching losses reduction can be easily achieved using this modulation strategy. This strategy also gains good results even with the unequal DC link capacitor. The modulation principle is studied in detail and the validity of this simplified PWM strategy is experimentally verified in this paper. The experiment results indicated that the proposed PWM strategy has excellent performance, and the neutral point potential can be balanced well with unequal DC link captaincies.

Profile-based Roughness Discrimination with Pen-type Texture Sensor

Application of copper sulfate based fenton-like catalyst in degradation of quinoline

        Zhaojie Jiao,Haifeng Gong,Ye Peng,Guilin Zhou,Xianming Zhang,Xu Gao,Yunqi Liu 대한환경공학회 2022 Environmental Engineering Research Vol.27 No.5

In the practical application of water treatment, the Fenton reaction usually works at a lower pH. To overcome the above shortcomings, a Fenton-like reaction system with copper sulfate as a catalyst was proposed. In this paper, quinoline was used as the target pollutant and the effects of catalyst dosage, H₂O₂ dosage, reaction temperature, and initial concentration of quinoline and pH on the removal effect were investigated, and the evolution in pH and hydroxyl radical concentration during reaction, as well as the possible catalytic mechanism and degradation pathway were clarified. The results show that under a catalyst dosage of 0.4 g・L-1, a H₂O₂ dosage of 196 mmol・L-1, a quinoline concentration of 100 mg・L-1 and a temperature of 75°C, the removal of quinoline and total organic carbon (TOC) reaches 99.5% and 87.2% in 65 min, respectively. Furthermore, the copper sulfate-driven homogeneous Fenton system exhibits a superior adaptability to pH in the range of 3.8 to 8.8. In the degradation of quinoline, ·OH radicals may attack the nitrogen ring and the benzene ring in sequence. The work provides a technical support for the treatment of organic wastewater, and shows promising in practical applications.
