To improve the global and local search ability of moth-flame optimization algorithm, three optimization strategies are proposed in this paper, namely chaos-based moth initialization, adaptive weighted position update strategy and population diversity improvement strategy. In moth initialization process, chaos-based Logistic map is adopted to improve population diversity. Then, a nonlinear weighting factor is introduced into the spiral function to adaptively balance the global and local search ability. Besides, new moth is generated by population diversity improvement strategy, which improves diversity and optimality of the population. Finally, simulation tests of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formation under multi-constraints are carried out and comparison results show that the proposed global and local moth-flame optimization algorithm has the superiority in rapidity and optimality in UAV path planning problem compared with the latest path planning algorithms.

SNS has been recognized as a means of expanding social capital by promoting interaction and efficient communication among users. On the other hand, there are serious concerns on negative side of social network which is often called epidemics. Trust plays a critical role in controlling the spread of distorted information and vicious rumor as well as reducing uncertainties and risk from unreliable users in social network. This study focuses on what the antecedents of interpersonal trust are in social network. We performed online survey from 252 Twitter users and tested candidate antecedents which are chosen from previous literature. As a result, propensity to trust of trustor, ability and sincerity of trustee, intimacy between trustor and trustee significantly affected to the interpersonal trust in Twitter.

A subset of patients of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) present with mutation of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1), and such mutants caused an ALSlike disorder when expressed in rodents. These findings implicated SOD1 in ALS pathogenesis and made the transgenic animals a widely used ALS model. However, previous studies of these animals have focused largely on motor neuron damage. We report herein that the spinal cords of mice expressing a human SOD1 mutant (hSOD1-G93A), besides showing typical destruction of motor neurons and axons, exhibit significant damage in the sensory system, including Wallerian-like degeneration in axons of dorsal root and dorsal funiculus, and mitochondrial damage in dorsal root ganglia neurons. Thus, hSOD1-G93A mutation causes both motor and sensory neuropathies, and as such the disease developed in the transgenic mice very closely resembles human ALS. Immobilized Candida antarctica lipase was used to catalyze the separation of ketoprofen into its components by means of esterification followed by the enzymatic hydrolysis of the ester product. In this study, ketoprofen underwent esterification to ethanol in the presence of isooctane. When the reaction was complete, 58.3% of the ketoprofen had been transformed into an ester. The ketoprofen remaining in solution after the reaction was complete consisted primarily of its S-enantiomer (83.0%), while the 59.4% of the ketoprofen component of the ester consisted of its R-enantiomer. We then subjected the ester product to enzymatic hydrolysis in the presence of the same enzyme and produced a ketoprofen product rich in the R-enantiomer; 77% of this product consisted of the R-enantiomer when 50% of the ester had been hydrolyzed, and 90% of it consisted of the R-enantiomer when 30% of the ester had been hydrolyzed. By contrast, the R-enantiomer levels only reached approximately 42 and 65%, respectively, when 50 and 30% of the racemic ester was hydrolyzed under the same conditions.

The traditional block-based motion compensation methods in frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) only use a single uniquely motion vector field. However, there will always be some mistakes in the motion vector field whether the advanced motion estimation (ME) and motion vector analysis (MA) algorithms are performed or not. Once the motion vector field has many mistakes, the quality of the interpolated frame is severely affected. In order to solve the problem, this paper proposes a novel joint overlapped block motion compensation method (8J-OBMC) which adopts motion vectors of the interpolated block and its 8-neighbor blocks to jointly interpolate the target block. Since the smoothness of motion filed makes the motion vectors of 8-neighbor blocks around the interpolated block quite close to the true motion vector of the interpolated block, the proposed compensation algorithm has the better fault-tolerant capability than traditional ones. Besides, the annoying blocking artifacts can also be effectively suppressed by using overlapped blocks. Experimental results show that the proposed method is not only robust to motion vectors estimated wrongly, but also can to reduce blocking artifacts in comparison with existing popular compensation methods.

Lotus leaves (Nelumbo nucifera) are widely used in medicines and foods. The investigate systematically studied the anti-obesity effect of lotus leaf extracts. It could reduce body weight, alleviate liver damage, and inhibit fat accumulation in high-fat-diet-induced obese mice. Lotus leaf extracts reduced serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST), and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) levels; decreased total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels in the serum; and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels to improve dyslipidemia. Lotus leaves also inhibited inflammation accompanied by obesity via decreasing inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon gamma (IFN-γ), and IL-6 levels and increasing anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-4 and IL-10 levels. qPCR analysis revealed that lotus leaves upregulated peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α), lipoprotein lipase (LPL), carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1), and cholesterol 7 alpha hydroxylase (CYP7A1) mRNA expressions and downregulated peroxisome proliferator- activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) and CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein alpha (C/EBP-α) mRNA expressions, to reduce adipocyte differentiation and fat accumulation, promote oxidation of fat and decomposition of triglyceride and cholesterol. So, lotus leaves effectively regulated lipid metabolism, alleviated inflammation and liver injury in obese mice; thus, lotus leaves could be further developed as a food to combat obesity.

Due to sharp depth transition, big holes may be found in the novel view that is synthesized by depth-image-based rendering (DIBR). A hole-filling method based on disparity map is proposed. One important aspect of the method is that the disparity map of destination image is used for hole-filling, instead of the depth image of reference image. Firstly, the big hole detection based on disparity map is conducted, and the start point and the end point of the hole are recorded. Then foreground pixels and background pixels are distinguished for hole-dilating according to disparity map, so that areas with matching errors can be determined and eliminated. In addition, parallaxes of pixels in the area with holes and matching errors are changed to new values. Finally, holes are filled with background pixels from reference image according to these new parallaxes. Experimental results show that the quality of the new view after hole-filling is quite well; and geometric distortions are avoided in destination image, in contrast to the virtual view generated by depth-smoothing methods and image inpainting methods. Moreover, this method is easy for hardware implementation.
Whole-proteome phylogeny of large dsDNA virus families by an alignment-free method.
Wu, Guohong Albert,Jun, Se-Ran,Sims, Gregory E,Kim, Sung-Hou National Academy of Sciences 2009 PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF Vol.106 No.31

The vast sequence divergence among different virus groups has presented a great challenge to alignment-based sequence comparison among different virus families. Using an alignment-free comparison method, we construct the whole-proteome phylogeny for a population of viruses from 11 viral families comprising 142 large dsDNA eukaryote viruses. The method is based on the feature frequency profiles (FFP), where the length of the feature (l-mer) is selected to be optimal for phylogenomic inference. We observe that (i) the FFP phylogeny segregates the population into clades, the membership of each has remarkable agreement with current classification by the International Committee on the Taxonomy of Viruses, with one exception that the mimivirus joins the phycodnavirus family; (ii) the FFP tree detects potential evolutionary relationships among some viral families; (iii) the relative position of the 3 herpesvirus subfamilies in the FFP tree differs from gene alignment-based analysis; (iv) the FFP tree suggests the taxonomic positions of certain 'unclassified' viruses; and (v) the FFP method identifies candidates for horizontal gene transfer between virus families.
