Mediating Effect of Resilience on the Association between Emotional Neglect and Depressive Symptoms

ObjectiveaaPrevious studies have reported that childhood maltreatment experiences could induce biological and psychological vulnerability in depressive disorders. However, it is still unclear that type-specific effects of childhood maltreatment on psychological resilience, depressive symptoms and interactions among childhood maltreatment experiences, resilience, and depressive symptoms. MethodsaaA total of 438 medical students were included in the study. The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Short Form, the Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Beck Depression Inventory were used for measuring childhood maltreatment experiences, psychological resilience, and depressive symptoms, respectively. We investigated the effects of childhood maltreatment experiences on resilience and depressive symptoms using correlation analysis. In addition, we analyzed the mediating effect of resilience on the association between childhood maltreatment and symptoms of depression. ResultsaaAmong childhood maltreatment, emotional neglect was a significant predictor of the scores of low resilience and high depressive symptoms in both gender groups (all ps<0.05). Furthermore, resilience was found to be a mediator connecting emotional neglect experiences with depressive symptoms. ConclusionaaOur results suggest that emotional neglect has detrimental effects on mood and resilience, and clinicians need to focus on the recovery of resilience when they deal with depressive symptoms in victims of childhood maltreatment.

Objective : The experiences in close relationships questionnaire-revised (ECR-R) (Fraley, Waller & Brennan, 2000) is a valuable tool for measuring adult attachment, and its Korean version, the ECRR-K (Kim, 2004), is widely used in Korea. However, given its substantial length, this study was aimed to develop and validate a short version of the ECRR-K called the ECRR-K14. Methods : Two hundred and ninety-four medical students participated in this study in 2016. They completed the ECRR-K, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and the UCLA Loneliness Scale (UCLA-LS). The study authors applied the Rasch rating scale to check each item's model fit and then performed confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) to test the new scale's validity. Results : The authors selected seven items each for the anxiety and avoidance subscales, and the ECRR-K14 showed fair to good internal consistency (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=0.93$ and 0.92 for anxiety and avoidance, respectively). The anxiety subscale showed concurrent validity with the PSS and the RSES while the avoidance subscale showed concurrent validity with the UCLA-LS. The CFAs also demonstrated the validity of the model with a goodness-of-fit index of 0.916. Conclusion : The ECRR-K14 showed excellent reliability and validity and appears to be a promising instrument for measuring the two attachment dimensions in adults.

Scientific Approach to Fashion Websites Using Eye Trackers

This study analyze consumers’ unconscious visual attention to color and images of internet shopping malls by using eye-tracking method. Twenty-nine participants, including 15 females and 14 males, participated. The average ages of the male and female participants were 27.3 years and 27.7 years, respectively. Ten images of five layouts (multi-composition images, single-model images, gender-composed images, videos, and moving banner images) of internet shopping malls were shown on an eye-tracker computer screen. Quantitative analyses of the eye-tracking responses were conducted. SPSS was used to analyze the descriptive characteristics and to conduct an independent-sample t-test, along with an ANOVA. The data analysis showed that the image area generally had the shortest time to first fixation (TFF), the longest duration of fixation (DOF), the highest number of fixations (NOF), and the highest numbers of revisits(NOR).Notably, visual attention towards female models was high among various images. The results can be used to improve credibility and design online shopping layout with a scientific evidence that helps consumers through their purchase decisions.

보조효소 F430은 사각평면의 중앙에 Ni(Ⅱ)원자가 결합하여 있는 tetrapyrrole의 corphin 거대고리 분자이다. 최근 구조연구에 의하면 corphin은 보조효소 B₂에서의 corrin 거대고리와 유사하게 부분적으로 이중결합의 연결되어 있으며 거대고리 전체가 굽혀지고 주름이 잡혀있는 것으로 보고되고 있다. F430의 촉매메카니즘에 관여하는 corphin고리의 역활을 이해하기 위해, 모델착물 Ni((DO)(DOH)pn]I 을 합성하였고 Ni(Ⅱ)[(DO)(DOBF₂)pn]I와 구조적인 비교를 시행하였다. 두착물의 중요한 차이점은 적도방향 리간드가 분자평면으로 부터 다른 굽힘각(α)을 준다는 것이다. Ni((DO)(DOH)pn)I은 평면으로부터 11.6˚의 굽힘각을 나타내고, 반면에 Ni((DO)(DOBF₂)pn)I의 굽힘각은 19.0˚을 나타낸다. 두 화합물에서 결합은 Ni원자는 각각의 diimino 형태들(최대 π-orbital overlap을 유지하기 위해서)과 동일 평면상에 남기위해 수직방향 리간드와 거리가 멀게 위치한다. I방향으로 Ni원자가 4개의 질소평면으로부터 Ni((DO)(DOH)pn)I에서는 0.188Å 만큼 떨어져있고, Ni((DO)(DOBF₂)pn)I에서는 0.23Å 떨어져있다. 또한 Ni((DO)(DOH)pn)I에서 얻어진 긴 Ni-I 결합거리는(DO)(DOH)pn 리간드가 (DO)(DOBF₂)pn보다 더욱 강한 강성(rigidity)을 갖고 있음을 나타낸다. Coenzyme F430 consists of a tetrapyrrole corphin macrocycle with a centrally bound, square planar Ni(Ⅱ) atom. Recent structural studies exhibit that the corphin is not fully conjugated and is thus able to bend or ruffle as in the corrin macrocycle in coenzyme B12. In order to increase the functions of corphin ring in the mechanistic details of F430 - dependent catalysis, model complex Ni [(DO)(DOH)pn] I was synthesized and structural comparison was made with Ni((DO)(DOBF₂)pn) I. Significant difference between complexes was the angle of deviation from planarity of the equatorial ligand (bending angle α). Ni((DO)(DOH)pn) I exhibits deviation from planarity of 11.6˚whereas deviation in Ni((DO)(DOBF₂)pn) I is 19˚. In both compounds, bending is away from the axial ligands such that the Ni atom remains coplanar with each of the diimino moieties(to maintain maximum π-orbital overalp), and is displaced from the 4-N plane towards I by 0.188Å in Ni((DO)(DOH)pn) I and 0.23Å in Ni((DO)(DOBF₂)pn) I. The very long Ni - I bond in Ni((DO)(DOH)pn) I is thus a consequence of the greater rigidity of the (DO)(DOH)pn ligand compared to the (DO)(DOBF₂)pn ligand.
Improvement of MFL sensing–based damage detection and quantification for steel bar NDE

A magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method was applied to detect and quantify defects in a steel bar. A multi-channel MFL sensor head was fabricated using Hall sensors and magnetization yokes with permanent magnets. The MFL sensor head scanned a damaged specimen with five levels of defects to measure the magnetic flux density. A series of signal processing procedures, including an enveloping process based on the Hilbert transform, was performed to clarify the flux leakage signal. The objective damage detection of the enveloped signals was then analyzed by comparing them to a threshold value. To quantitatively analyze the MFL signal according to the damage level, five kinds of damage indices based on the relationship between the enveloped MFL signal and the threshold value were applied. Using the proposed damage indices and the general damage index for the MFL method, the detected MFL signals were quantified and analyzed relative to the magnitude of the damage increase.

<P>Previously, AIMP3 (aminoacyl-tRNAsynthetase-interacting multifunctional protein-3) was shown to be involved in the macromolecular tRNA synthetase complex or to act as a tumor suppressor. In this study, we report a novel role of AIMP3/p18 in the cellular aging of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). We found that AIMP3/p18 expression significantly increased in senescent hMSCs and in aged mouse bone marrow-derived MSCs (mBM-MSCs). AIMP3/p18 overexpression is sufficient to induce the cellular senescence phenotypes with compromised clonogenicity and adipogenic differentiation potential. To identify the upstream regulators of AIMP3/p18 during senescence, we screened for potential epigenetic regulators and for miRNAs. We found that the levels of miR-543 and miR-590-3p significantly decreased under senescence-inducing conditions, whereas the AIMP3/p18 protein levels increased. We demonstrate for the first time that miR-543 and miR-590-3p are able to decrease AIMP3/p18 expression levels through direct binding to the AIMP/p18 transcripts, which further compromised the induction of the senescence phenotype. Taken together, our data demonstrate that AIMP3/p18 regulates cellular aging in hMSCs possibly through miR-543 and miR-590-3p.</P>

This paper used a magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method compatible with steel structures to analyze quantitative change in a leakage signal due to defects on the surface of a railroad. A numerical simulation using a two-dimensional finite element method (2D-FEM) was used to analyze MFL signals from defects on the railroad. An experiment was then carried out to investigate the capability of the MFL-based non-destructive evaluation (NDE). We also focused on the velocity effect of the MFL signals by analyzing the magnetic hysteresis phenomenon. The quantitative change in leakage signals was determined by selecting depth of the defect and inspection velocity as parameters in a simulation and in an experiment. The MFL signals obtained showed variations that were simultaneously affected by inspection velocity and defect depth. MFL-based damage detection in a railroad is conclusively confirmed to be sufficiently feasible within the range of operational speeds of an inspection train.
