<P>We report the discovery of an ultra-luminous quasar J030642.51+185315.8 (hereafter J0306+1853) at redshift 5.363, which hosts a supermassive black hole with M-BH = (1.07 +/- 0.27) x 10(10) M-circle dot. With an absolute magnitude M-1450 = -28.92 and a bolometric luminosity L-bol similar to 3.4 x 10(14) L-circle dot, J0306+1853 is one of the most luminous objects in the early universe. It is not likely to be a beamed source based on its small flux variability, low radio loudness, and normal broad emission lines. In addition, a z = 4.986 damped Ly alpha system (DLA) with [M/H] = -1.3 +/- 0.1, among the most metal-rich DLAs at z greater than or similar to 5, is detected in the absorption spectrum of this quasar. This ultra-luminous quasar puts strong constraints on the bright end of the quasar luminosity function and massive end of the black hole mass function. It will provide a unique laboratory for the study of BH growth and the co-evolution between a BH and the host galaxy with multi-wavelength follow-up observations. The future high-resolution spectra will give more insight into the DLA and other absorption systems along the line of sight of J0306+1853.</P>

For solving phase separation of nanoparticles and graphene oxide (GO) in the application process, MgWO4–GO nanocomposites were successfully synthesized using three diferent dispersants via a facile solvothermal-assisted in situ synthesis method. The structure and morphology of the prepared samples were characterized by X-ray difraction, Scanning electron microscopy, Transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared and Raman techniques. The experimental results show that MgWO4 nanoparticles are tightly anchored on the surfaces of GO sheets and the agglomeration of MgWO4 nanoparticles is signifcantly weakened. Additionally, MgWO4–GO nanocomposites are more stable than self-assembly MgWO4/ GO, which there is no separation of MgWO4 nanoparticles and GO sheets by ultrasound after 10 min. The catalytic results show that, compared with bare MgWO4, MgWO4–GO nanocomposites present better catalytic activities on the thermal decomposition of cyclotetramethylenete tranitramine (HMX), cyclotrimethylene trinitramine (RDX) and ammonium perchlorate (AP). The enhanced catalytic activity is mainly attributed to the synergistic efect of MgWO4 nanoparticles and GO. MgWO4–GO prepared using urea as the dispersant has the smallest diameter and possesses the best catalytic action among the three MgWO4–GO nanocomposites, which make the decomposition temperature of HMX, RDX and AP reduce by 10.71, 11.09 and 66.6 °C, respectively, and the apparent activation energy of RDX decrease by 68.6 kJ mol−1

The imbalance between the proliferation and apoptosis of B-cell precursors is an important contributor to the pathogenesis of B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL), while its specific regulatory mechanism remains perplexing. This study aimed to expound the underlying mechanism of the proliferation and apoptosis of BCP-ALL cells from the perspective of non-coding RNA. In this study, long non-coding RNA colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (LncRNA CRNDE) was upregulated in the bone marrow of BCP-ALL patients and BCP-ALL cell lines (NALM-6 and RS4;11). Functionally, LncRNA CRNDE knockdown restrained cell proliferation and boosted cell apoptosis in NALM-6 and RS4;11 cells. The subsequent investigation confirmed that LncRNA CRNDE bound to miR-345-5p and negatively regulated miR-345-5p expression. The overexpression of miR-345-5p suppressed cell proliferation and boosted cell apoptosis in NALM-6 and RS4;11 cells. Further experiments revealed that miR-345-5p downregulated cyclic AMP response element-binding protein (CREB) expression by targeting its mRNA directly. CREB overexpression reversed the effect of miR-345-5p mimic on cell proliferation and apoptosis in NALM-6 and RS4;11 cells. Finally, in vivo experiments showed that LncRNA CRNDE knockdown prolonged the survival of mice xenotransplanted with NALM-6 cells. In conclusion, LncRNA CRNDE upregulated CREB expression by suppressing miR-345-5p, thus promoting cell proliferation and reducing cell apoptosis in BCP-ALL.

Gibberellin (GA) is widely used to enlarge berries of seedless table grape and raisin varieties. The molecular mechanism underlying the berry-sizing effect of gibberelins is however poorly understood. We used a high-throughput deep sequencing technology to investigate the transcriptome and comparative expression profiles of berries from Vitis vinifera L. ‘Summer Black’ treated with GA3 with the aim of increasing the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying the species’ expansion growth responses to exogenous GA3 hormone application. A total of 591 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were detected including genes involved in fruit expansion and growth. There were four expansion genes, three cellulose synthase A catalytic subunit genes, four cellulose synthaselike protein genes and three xyloglucan endotransglucosylase genes. Differential expression of these genes could potentially explain the difference in the growth and sizes of fruits from control (CK) and GA3 treated (+GA) vines. In addition, the expression patterns of 14 DEGs were validated by qRT-PCR, and the outcomes agreed highly with the RNA-Seq results. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway enrichment analyses were performed to better understand the functions of these DEGs. We also identified a large number of single nucleotide polymorphism and insertion/deletion markers, which will be a rich resource for future marker development and breeding research in grape. The transcriptome analysis provides valuable information for furthering our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that regulate the fruit expansion growth, and adds to the growing foundation for future genetic and functional genomic studies in grape fruit.
