      • Dynamic Security Policy Enforcement on Android

Matúš Vančo,Lukáš Aron 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.9

This work presentss the system for dynamic enforcement of access rights on Android. Each application will be repackaged by this system, so that the access to selected private data is restricted for the outer world. The system intercepts the system calls using Aurasium framework and adds an innovative approach of tracking the information flows from the privacy-sensitive sources using tainting mechanism without need of administrator rights. There has been designed file-level and data-level taint propagation and policy enforcement based on Android binder.

Grid-Enabled Parallel Simulation Based on Parallel Equation Formulation

        Bojan Andjelkovic,Vančo B. Litovski,Volker Zerbe 한국전자통신연구원 2010 ETRI Journal Vol.32 No.4

Parallel simulation is an efficient way to cope with long runtimes and high computational requirements in simulations of modern complex integrated electronic circuits and systems. This paper presents an algorithm for parallel simulation based on parallelization in equation formulation and simultaneous calculation of matrix contributions for nonlinear analog elements. In addition, the paper describes the development of a grid interface for a parallel simulator that enables a designer to perform simulations on distant computer clusters. Performances of the developed parallel simulation algorithm are evaluated by simulation of a microelectromechanical system.

The Distribution of Information through Online Meeting after COVID-19: Examining the Effect of Past Behavior

Van Hao HOANG(Van Hao HOANG ),Van Vien VU(Van Vien VU ),Quang Truong NGO(Quang Truong NGO ) 한국유통과학회 2023 유통과학연구 Vol.21 No.8

Purpose: Online meeting is chosen instead of face-to-face conferences as a solution that ensures both effectiveness and legality during times of strong epidemic outbreaks. In the current period, managers can have different types of meeting options for information distribution. This study has examined the effect of past behavior on the managers’ intention of organizing online meetings. Research design, data and methodology: Data were collected from a survey with 475 managers and put into SmartPLS 4.0 for analysis. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to test relationships in the research model. Results: The findings indicated that past behavior plays the most critical role in explaining the organizing online meeting intention of managers, followed by attitude and subjective norms. Meanwhile, the perceived behavioral control factor has absolutely no effect on intention in the context of this study. Notably, attitude and subjective norms also remarkably mediated the impact of past behavior on managers’ intention. Conclusions: This study has added to the understanding of the meeting organization behavior of managers. Even if the epidemic is under control, the administrators should still organize some meetings in the form of online because it will affect the social perceptions of future behavior and behavioral intention.

      • Atomically thin p–n junctions with van der Waals heterointerfaces

        Lee, Chul-Ho,Lee, Gwan-Hyoung,van der Zande, Arend M.,Chen, Wenchao,Li, Yilei,Han, Minyong,Cui, Xu,Arefe, Ghidewon,Nuckolls, Colin,Heinz, Tony F.,Guo, Jing,Hone, James,Kim, Philip Nature Publishing Group, a division of Macmillan P 2014 Nature nanotechnology Vol.9 No.9

Semiconductor p–n junctions are essential building blocks for electronic and optoelectronic devices. In conventional p–n junctions, regions depleted of free charge carriers form on either side of the junction, generating built-in potentials associated with uncompensated dopant atoms. Carrier transport across the junction occurs by diffusion and drift processes influenced by the spatial extent of this depletion region. With the advent of atomically thin van der Waals materials and their heterostructures, it is now possible to realize a p–n junction at the ultimate thickness limit. Van der Waals junctions composed of p- and n-type semiconductors—each just one unit cell thick—are predicted to exhibit completely different charge transport characteristics than bulk heterojunctions. Here, we report the characterization of the electronic and optoelectronic properties of atomically thin p–n heterojunctions fabricated using van der Waals assembly of transition-metal dichalcogenides. We observe gate-tunable diode-like current rectification and a photovoltaic response across the p–n interface. We find that the tunnelling-assisted interlayer recombination of the majority carriers is responsible for the tunability of the electronic and optoelectronic processes. Sandwiching an atomic p–n junction between graphene layers enhances the collection of the photoexcited carriers. The atomically scaled van der Waals p–n heterostructures presented here constitute the ultimate functional unit for nanoscale electronic and optoelectronic devices.

Oncological and functional outcomes of transanal total mesorectal excision in a teaching hospital in the Netherlands

        Joost A.G. van der Heijden,Kelly G.H. van de Pas,Frank J.C. van den Broek,Francois M.H. van Dielen,Gerrit D. Slooter,Adriana J.G. Maaskant-Braat 대한대장항문학회 2022 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.38 No.1

Purpose: Transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) was developed to overcome surgical difficulties experienced in distal pelvic dissection. Concerns have been raised about potential worse postoperative functional outcomes after TaTME. Also, the oncological safety was questioned. This study aimed to describe the functional, surgical, oncological outcomes and quality of life (QoL) after TaTME. Methods: All consecutive TaTME cases for rectal cancer without disseminated disease between December 2016 and April 2019 were included. The Wexner incontinence score, low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) score, fecal incontinence-related QoL, and the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-core questionnaire and 29-item module (EORTC QLQ-C30/CR29) were collected. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to calculate local recurrence-free survival. Results: Thirty patients were eligible for analysis of which 23 received questionnaires. Response rate was 74%. After a median follow-up of respectively 20.0 and 23.0 months for functional and oncological outcomes, the median (interquartile range) of Wexner incontinence and LARS scores were 9.0 (7.0–12.0) and 33.1 (25.0–39.0). Major LARS was present in 73.3%. Fecal incontinence, general and colorectal-specific QoL subdomains that are associated with poor bowel function scored in line with previously reported data. The 2-year actuarial cumulative local recurrence rate was 3.7% (95% confidence interval, 2.4%–5.0%). Conclusion: TaTME may lead to significant functional impairments. Patients should receive preoperative counseling on this topic and be fully aware of the potential consequences of their treatment. Oncological data were in line with other short- to moderate-term data and did not show alarming results.

        Creep behaviour of flexible adhesives

van Straalen, Ijsbrand J.,Botter, Erik, van den Berg, Arnold, van Beers, Peter The Society of Adhesion and Interface 2004 접착 및 계면 Vol.5 No.2

Since flexible adhesives are used more and more in structural applications, designers should have a better understanding of its behaviour under various conditions as ultimate load, fatigue load, long-term load and environmental conditions. This paper focuses on long-term load conditions and its effect on flexible adhesives. The creep properties of both PU (PolyUrethane) and SMP (Silyl Modified Polymers) adhesives used for identical applications are considered. To investigate the creep behaviour tests under various conditions were done. The results of those tests are presented and compared. To evaluate these results an empirical method is proposed and discussed. An example illustrates the potential of this method. It is also shown that with use of a probabilistic calibration technique this method results into a simple rule, which can be used to calculate the creep for practical applications. For the studied adhesives, the creep performance of the SMP adhesive is shown to be of the same level or slightly better than of the two PU adhesives. In addition to this empirical method, the principles of a more complex theoretical based method are introduced. The potential of this method is illustrated and future research activities are drawn.

The crowding-out effect of public debt on private investment in developing economies and the role of institutional quality

Van Bon Nguyen(Van Bon Nguyen ) 서울대학교 경제연구소 2022 Seoul journal of economics Vol.35 No.4

Public spending is a crucial instrument of fiscal policy in running the economy. Most governments use public spending actively to overcome the cyclicality of the economy. However, the increase in government spending financed by public debt can negatively contribute to the private sector investment. This study raises two research questions: (i) Does public debt in developing countries crowd out private investment? (ii) What is the role of governance in public debt–private investment relationship in these countries? For the answers, we apply the two-step difference generalized method of moments Arellano–Bond estimator to empirically investigate the effects of public debt, governance, and their interactions on private investment for a sample of 98 developing countries from 2002 to 2019. We then employs the pooled mean group estimator to check the robustness of estimates. Results show that public debt crowds out private investment, whereas governance stimulates it. Notably, the crowding-out effect of interaction on private investment seems counterintuitive. Furthermore, economic growth and trade openness enhance private investment. These findings suggest policy implications for governments in developing countries for controlling and managing public debt to promote the private sector investment.

Excellent detection of H2S gas at ppb concentrations using ZnFe2O4 nanofibers loaded with reduced graphene oxide

Van Hoang, Nguyen,Hung, Chu Manh,Hoa, Nguyen Duc,Van Duy, Nguyen,Park, Inkyu,Van Hieu, Nguyen Elsevier Sequoia 2019 Sensors and actuators. B Chemical Vol.282 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Cost-effective fabrication of sensors and detection of ultralow concentrations of toxic gases are important concerns for environmental monitoring. In this study, the reduced graphene oxide (RGO)-loaded ZnFe2O4 nanofibers (ZFO-NFs) were fabricated by facile on-chip electrospinning method and subsequent heat treatment. The multi-porous NFs with single-phase cubic spinel structure and typical spider-net morphology were directly assembled on Pt-interdigitated electrodes. The diameters of the RGO-loaded ZFO-NFs were approximately 50–100 nm with many nanograins. The responses to H2S gas showed a bell-shaped behaviour with respect to RGO contents and annealing temperatures. The optimal values of the RGO contents and the annealing temperatures were found to be about 1.0 wt% and 600 °C, respectively. The response of the RGO-loaded ZnFe2O4 NFs to 1 ppm H2S gas was as high as 147 at 350°C while their cross-gas responses to SO2 (10 ppm), NH3 (100 ppm), H2 (250 ppm), C3H6O (1000 ppm), and C2H5OH (1000 ppm) were rather low (1.8−5.6). The high sensor response was attributed to formation of a heterojunction between RGO and ZnFe2O4 and due to the fact that NFs consisted of many nanograins which resulted in multi-porous structure and formation of potential barriers at grain boundaries.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> rGO-loaded ZnFe2O4 nanofibers have simply prepared by electrospinning. </LI> <LI> rGO-loaded ZnFe2O4 nanofiber sensors can detect H2S gas down to ppb level. </LI> <LI> The loading rGO can result in an enhancement of H2S gas ensing performance. </LI> </UL> </P>
