Exploring the Health Production Model in Vietnam
Tuyen Thi Mong NGUYEN,Quyen Le Hoang Thuy To NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.12
One of the sustainable development goals is to promote good health and well-being for all people. Child health is a top priority since their health issues can have a detrimental impact on human capital development, which is a critical input for the growth model. This paper applies the health production model to explore the determinants that influence the health of children under the age of five. The results of a survey of 203 households in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, were examined. Child health is measured using anthropometric indicators such as weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height (ZWFH). Three separate multinomial logistic models are regressed to examine the drivers of child health as proxied by z-score weight for age, z-score height for age, and z-score weight for height. The significance of input variables relating to a child’s attributes, household, and environment was validated by the findings. The inclusion of overweight besides under-nourished indexes is novel because it reflects the current trend of child over-nutrition. The findings of the study highlight the importance of a wide range of initiatives to enhance child health. Moreover, the genetic effect is found to be crowded out by environmental and household factors. The finding verifies that despite their parents’ moderate height, the future generation of Vietnamese can achieve the desired height.
Effects of pretreatment and air drying temperature on Noni fruit powder
Tuyen Chan Kha,Cong Thanh Nguyen,Luyen Thi Tran,Trung Tan Truong 한국식품과학회 2021 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.30 No.12
The plant Morinda citrifolia L. (Noni) has beenthe subject of several recent research due to its positiveimpact on the treatment and prevention of a variety ofdiseases. Noni fruits contain a variety of phytochemicals, including flavonoid, polyphenol, and triterpenoid saponin. This study aimed to determine the best pre-treatment (includingblanching, soaking in ascorbic acid solution andmetabisulfite solution) and air-drying temperature (50, 60,70, and 80 C) to maximize the total polyphenol content(TPC), flavonoid content (TFC), and triterpenoid saponincontents (TSC) of the resultant Noni fruit powder. Theresults revealed that pre-soaked Noni fruit samples inascorbic acid or metabisulfite solution before air-drying at60 C were beneficial in preserving TPC, TFC, and TSC. TPC, TFC, and TSC losses increased as drying temperatures(70 and 80 C) rose. The optimum sample was held atfive different relative humidity conditions until theyattained weight equilibrium. The results indicated that thesorption isotherm curve of the Noni powder was the sigmoidshape and fitted with the BET and GAB models.
Synthesis and Antiinflammatory Activity of 1,5-Diarylimidazoles
Tuyen Truong Ngoc,Sin Kwang-Seog,Kim Hyun Pyo,Park Haeil The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea 2005 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.28 No.9
A number of 1,5-diarylimidazoles has been synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activities of COX-2 catalyzed $PGE_2$ production. 1,5-Diarylimidazoles were obtained from imimes and p-toluenesulfonylmethyl cyanide (TosMIC). Imines were prepared from commercially available amines and aldehydes. Among the compounds tested, 1-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-5-(4methylsulfonylphenyl)imidazole (2r) showed strong inhibitory activity, however, most diarylimidazoles exhibited little to low inhibitory activities against COX-2 catalyzed $PGE_2$ production.
Learning a Self-driving Bicycle Using Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient
Tuyen P. Le,Nguyen Dang Quang,SeungYoon Choi,TaeChoong Chung 제어로봇시스템학회 2018 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2018 No.10
This paper improves the method for learning a bicycle which can itself balance and go to any specified locations. The bicycle is controlled by a neural network policy which is learned by deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm (DDPG). We propose a procedure which allows the controller can be gradually learned until it can stably balance and lead the bicycle to any specified places.

A New Comprehensive Short-form Health Literacy Survey Tool for Patients in General
Tuyen Van Duong,Peter WuShou Chang,Shih-Hsien Yang,Ming-Chu Chen,Wei-Ting Chao,Tara Chen,Priscilla Chiao,Hsiao-Ling Huang 한국간호과학회 2017 Asian Nursing Research Vol.11 No.1
Purpose: To validate a conceptual short-form health literacy 12 items questionnaire (HL-SF12) in patient populations. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted via a convenient sample of 403 patients from three departments of a community general hospital in the northern Taiwan. Patients’ health literacy was assessed with a validated HL-SF12, derived from the full scale, the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q), as well as a single-item from Chew’s Set of Brief Health Literacy Question. A reference population in Northern Taiwan (n = 928) via the HLS-EU-Q in 2013e2014 was used as a reference to compare the health literacy between that of the general public and the patients. Data was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), internal consistency analysis, correlation analysis, and linear regression models. Results: Patients’ health literacy assessed with the HL-SF12 was shown with high internal consistency (Cronbach a = .87), and moderately correlated with the single-item from Chew's Set of Brief Health Literacy Question, with satisfactory item-scale convergent validity (item-scale correlation> .40), without floor/ceiling effect, and with satisfactory goodness of fit indices of the three-factor construct model for most of the patients. Their health literacy was significantly positively associated with female gender, higher income, and more often watching health-related TV programs. On the other hands, patients were reported with significantly higher healthcare health literacy than the general public, but not in general health literacy, disease prevention health literacy, or health promotion health literacy. Conclusion: The comprehensive HL-SF12 was a valid and easy to use tool for assessing patients’ health literacy in the hospitals to facilitate healthcare providers in enhancing patients’ health literacy and healthcare qualities.

Glioblastomas (GBMs) are characterized by four subtypes, proneural (PN), neural, classical, and mesenchymal (MES) GBMs, and they all have distinct activated signaling pathways. Among the subtypes, PN and MES GBMs show mutually exclusive genetic signatures, and the MES phenotype is, in general, believed to be associated with more aggressive features of GBM: tumor recurrence and drug resistance. Therefore, targeting MES GBMs would improve the overall prognosis of patients with fatal tumors. In this study, we propose peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker as well as therapeutic target for MES GBM; we used multiple approaches to assess PPARγ, including biostatistics analysis and assessment of preclinical studies. First, we found that PPARγ was exclusively expressed in MES glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs), and ligand activation of endogenous PPARγ suppressed cell growth and stemness in MES GSCs. Further in vivo studies involving orthotopic and heterotopic xenograft mouse models confirmed the therapeutic efficacy of targeting PPARγ; compared to control mice, those that received ligand treatment exhibited longer survival as well as decreased tumor burden. Mechanistically, PPARγ activation suppressed proneural–mesenchymal transition (PMT) by inhibiting the STAT3 signaling pathway. Biostatistical analysis using The Cancer Genomics Atlas (TCGA, n=206) and REMBRANDT (n=329) revealed that PPARγ upregulation is linked to poor overall survival and disease-free survival of GBM patients. Analysis was performed on prospective (n=2) and retrospective (n=6) GBM patient tissues, and we finally confirmed that PPARγ expression was distinctly upregulated in MES GBM. Collectively, this study provides insight into PPARγ as a potential therapeutic target for patients with MES GBM.
SVPWM Strategies for Three-level T-type Neutral-point-clamped Indirect Matrix Converter
Tuyen, Nguyen Dinh,Phuong, Le Minh,Lee, Hong-Hee The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2019 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.19 No.4
In this paper, the three-level T-type neutral-point-clamped indirect matrix converter topology and the relative space vector modulation methods are introduced to improve the voltage transfer ratio and output voltage performance. The presented converter topology is based on combinations of cascaded-rectifier and three-level T-type neutral-point-clamp inverter. It can overcome the limitation of voltage transfer ratio of the conventional matrix converter and the high voltage rating of power switches of conventional matrix converter. Two SVPWM strategies for proposed converter are described in this paper to achieve the advantages features such as: sinusoidal input/output currents and three-level output voltage waveforms. Results from Psim 9.0 software simulation are provided to confirm the theoretical analysis. Hence, a laboratory prototype was implemented, and the experimental results are shown to validate the simulation results and to verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology and modulation strategies.
