THE DIFFUSE NEAR-INFRARED BACKGROUND SPECTRUM FROM AKARI
Tsumura Kohji,Matsumoto Toshio,Matsuura Shuji,Sakon Itsuki,Wada Takehiko 한국천문학회 2017 天文學論叢 Vol.32 No.1
We analyzed spectral data of the astrophysical diffuse emission obtained with the low-resolution spectroscopy mode on the AKARI InfraRed Camera (IRC) in the 1.8-5.3 μm wavelength region. Advanced reduction methods specialized for slit spectroscopy of diffuse sky spectra have been developed, and a catalog of 278 spectra of the diffuse sky covering a wide range of Galactic and ecliptic latitudes was constructed. Using this catalog, two other major foreground components, the zodiacal light (ZL) and the diffuse Galactic light (DGL),were separated and subtracted by taking correlations with ZL brightness estimated by the DIRBE ZL model and with the 100 μm dust thermal emission, respectively. The isotropic emission was interpreted as the extragalactic background light (EBL), which shows significant excess over the integrated light of galaxies at < 4 μm.

Background: Uroplakins have been widely investigated as potential markers in patients with bladder cancer because these proteins are specific to the urothelium. However, the role of uroplakin proteins in bladder cancer remains unknown. In this study, preoperative serum levels of uroplakin III were measured in patients with urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder and examined for possible association with clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes. Materials and Methods: This study included 52 bladder cancer patients at various stages and 28 healthy controls. Uroplakin III levels were detected in preoperative sera using an automated dot blot system and a micro-dot blot array. Results: There was a significant increase in serum uroplakin III levels in patients with bladder cancer as compared to healthy controls (p<0.05). In addition, serum uroplakin III levels were associated with muscle-invasive status, high grade and lymphovascular invasion (p<0.02). Log-rank tests indicated high serum uroplakin III to be significantly associated with cancer-specific mortality. Conclusions: Determination of serum uroplakin III level could be valuable for identifying patients with biologically aggressive bladder cancer.

Foundry techniquews for large steel casting depends on the skills of foundrymen considerably. Especially, the problem of reducing casring surface defects is difficult to clear numercially. Statistical analysis by using wuantification theory for hot tear and sand inclusion, and multiple regression analysis for dimensional defects have been shown to be examples of solving this difficulty. Many causes of surface defects can be evaluated by these analyses. These evaluations serve as the base data of defect reduction and contribute to the constant improvement of casting quality and quality enhancement activity. The system to perform quality enhancement activity was developed and it proved very useful for transfering foundry techniques and skills from the old to young generations.

Al-induced crystallization of Si1-xGex films (x = 0 - 0.5) has been investigated by using amorphous SiGe (a-SiGe)/Al structures to realize polycrystalline SiGe (poly-Si) layers on insulating lms at low temperatures. For the Si sample, poly-Si oriented to the (111) direction was formed after annealing (450 ℃, 20 h) and inversion of Si/Al layers occurred completely. For Si1-xGex samples (x > 0), the layer exchange occurred in partial areas and poly-SiGe with the (111) orientation was grown only in the exchanged areas. The Ge fractions of the crystallized SiGe were almost the same as those of the initial a-SiGe layers. The diameters of the crystallized areas decreased from ∼100 (x = 0) to ∼30 μm (x = 0.5) with increasing Ge fraction. This technique can be utilized for the formation of high-quality poly-SiGe at low temperatures. Transfer Function Representation of Cyclic Consensus Systems
Myung-Gon Yoon,Koji Tsumura 제어로봇시스템학회 2010 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
This paper presents transfer functions of a class of cyclic consensus system in closed forms. Four different kinds of network topologies ; directed, undirected, one, two or full reference agents, are considered. Each agent of consensus systems is assumed to satisfy a first-order scalar dynamics which is driven by a common consensus protocol and an independent exogenous input. It is shown that every SISO transfer function between the exogenous input of one agent and the state of another generally different agent, is always minimum phase. In addition, poles and zeros, system degrees and relative degrees of such SISO transfer functions are specified. These results are interpretated in relation to the controllability and closed loop performance of a networked system having one leader agent. Furthermore, our transfer function representations are applied to an investigation of stability margins for a closed loop cyclic consensus system.

In this paper, we deal with approximation methods of large-scaled complex systems and derive the condition that the equilibrium point of the error dynamics is exponentially stable. Especially, we propose multi-layered hierarchical model which approximates the large-scaled systems. Our heterogeneous approximation is preferable for preserving the details of a subsystem of our interest and simplifying the other parts of such large-scaled systems. Finally, numerical simulations are demonstrated to show the efficiency.

Cytoreductive surgery for patients with advanced ovarian cancer often requires full-thickness resection of the diaphragm [1]. In most cases, the diaphragm can be closed directly; however, when the defect is wide and simple closure is difficult, reconstruction using a synthetic mesh is usually performed [2]. However, the use of this type of mesh is contraindicated in the presence of concomitant intestinal resections because of the risk of bacterial contamination [3]. Autologous tissue shows a higher resistance to infection than artificial materials [4]; thus, we introduce diaphragm reconstruction using autologous fascia lata during cytoreduction for advanced ovarian cancer. A patient with advanced ovarian cancer underwent right diaphragmatic full-thickness resection with concomitant resection of the rectosigmoid colon, and complete resection was achieved. The defect of the right diaphragm measured 12×8 cm, and direct closure was impossible. A section of the right fascia lata measuring 10×5 cm was harvested and sutured to the diaphragmatic defect with a 2-0 proline continuous suture. The harvesting of the fascia lata required only 20 minutes, with little blood loss. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were experienced, and adjuvant chemotherapy was initiated without any delay. Diaphragm reconstruction with the fascia lata is a safe and simple method, and we propose this reconstruction technique especially for patients with advanced ovarian cancer who undergo concomitant intestinal resections. The informed consent for use of this video was taken from the patient.
