      • Defining an optimal set of decimation ratios corresponding to signal and applying in audio signal subband coding

Nguyen Xuan Truong 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7

The SBC (subband coding) using the multirate filter bank was proposed in 1980, this coding method splits full audio spectrum into subbands, and assigns more bits to each subband with higher energy. If the power spectral density (PSD) of any subbands is approximately zero, then those subbands need not be assigned any bits at all. While reconstruction, the subband signals are synthesized to the original signal. The most important advantage of SBC is data reduction. The multirate filter bank (MFB) must obtain requirement of perfect reconstruction and requirement of maximal decimation. This paper proposed two new methods to find out sets of decimation ratios, and an optimal set is chosen for designing MFB, satisfying above requirements. Because the optimal set is suitable with PSD distribution of signal, the achieved result does not help only to decrease data rate but also to reduce total error on the reconstructed output signal. An example where an audio signal is the input signal is included.

Interaction of TIF-90 and filamin A in the regulation of rRNA synthesis in leukemic cells

        Nguyen, Le Xuan Truong,Chan, Steven M.,Ngo, Tri Duc,Raval, Aparna,Kim, Kyeong Kyu,Majeti, Ravindra,Mitchell, Beverly S. American Society of Hematology 2014 Blood Vol.124 No.4

<P>The transcription initiation factor I (TIF-IA) is an important regulator of the synthesis of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) through its facilitation of the recruitment of RNA polymerase I (Pol I) to the ribosomal DNA promoter. Activation of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) pathway, which occurs commonly in acute myelogenous leukemia, enhances rRNA synthesis through TIF-IA stabilization and phosphorylation. We have discovered that TIF-IA coexists with a splicing isoform, TIF-90, which is expressed preferentially in the nucleolus and at higher levels in proliferating and transformed hematopoietic cells. TIF-90 interacts directly with Pol I to increase rRNA synthesis as a consequence of Akt activation. Furthermore, TIF-90 binds preferentially to a 90-kDa cleavage product of the actin binding protein filamin A (FLNA) that inhibits rRNA synthesis. Increased expression of TIF-90 overcomes the inhibitory effect of this cleavage product and stimulates rRNA synthesis. Because activated Akt also reduces FLNA cleavage, these results indicate that activated Akt and TIF-90 function in parallel to increase rRNA synthesis and, as a consequence, cell proliferation in leukemic cells. These results provide evidence that the direct targeting of Akt would be an effective therapy in acute leukemias in which Akt is activated.</P>

Karyotype and B chromosome variation in Lilium amabile Palibin

        Truong Xuan Nguyen,김보람,박두리,김영규,Viet‑Yen Nguyen,나종국,김남수,김종화 한국유전학회 2019 Genes & Genomics Vol.41 No.6

Objective Lilium amabile Palibin (2n = 2x = 24) is an endemic lily species in Korea. B chromosomes are supernumerary chromosomes and the presence of B chromosome in L. amabile was known by previous researches. The current research was conducted to characterize the genetical and cytological features of the B chromosome plants in L. amabile. Methods Karyotype and B chromosome cytotype analyses were carried out among 135 L. amabile accessions that were collected from six geographical locations in Korea using conventional aceto-carmine staining as well as FISH technique with ribosomal RNA gene probes. Results The karyotype of L. amabile genome consisted of two large metacentric, four intermediate subtelocentric, and six intermediate to small acrocentric chromosomes in which chromosomes 1, 6 and 7 carried the 45S rRNA gene loci and chromosome 3 carried the 5S rRNA gene. There were 4 types of B chromosomes, two large B chromosomes and two small B chromosomes. The ribosomal RNA gene loci were not present in the B chromosomes. The 135 accessions were classified into 13 cytotypes including diploids and different B chromosome aneuploids. Among the aneuploids, the most frequent cytotype was 24 + 1B, which was followed by 24 + 2B, 24 + 1b, 24 + 1B + 2b, 24 + 1B + 4b, and 24 + 2B + 4b. Conclusion The karyotype of L. amabile was consistent with other species in the genus Lilium without polyploids. The B chromosome cytotypes were highly variable and the occurrences of different cytotypes were random among the six populations, implying that the B and b chromosome occurrence was random in each population.

Factors Affecting Industry 4.0 Adoption in the Curriculum of University Students in Ho Chi Minh City

NGUYEN, Xuan Truong,NGUYEN, Thanh Toan Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.10

This study investigates the factors affecting Industry 4.0 adoption in the curriculum of university students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Universities need to respond to the changing faces of Industry 4.0 and, hence, Education 4.0. A mixed method including both qualitative and quantitative methodologies was utilized. An in-depth interview was carried out for exploring, reviewing, and testing content validity of constructs and measurement items. The pilot study was conducted with 120 respondents. The conceptual model and hypotheses were developed using data collected by a questionnaire survey distributed to 584 respondents by both electronic and paper forms with non-probability and convenience sampling techniques. The result of structural equation modeling showed that occupation relevance, skills, facility conditions, and social influence impacted on the intermediates variables, namely, relevance advantage, perceived usefulness, behavioral intention-to-use, and actual use. The independent variables are occupation relevance, skills, facility conditions, and social influence. They impact actual use through mediating constructs such as relevance advantage, perceived usefulness, and behavioral intention-to-use. The findings suggest that universities and students' efforts aimed at increasing the factors' perceptions of adoption of Industry 4.0 will contribute to implementation success, where success is defined as effectual usage of Industry 4.0.

Effect of salicylic acid and yeast extract on curcuminoids biosynthesis gene expression and curcumin accumulation in cells of Curcuma zedoaria

Nguyen Hoang Loc,Truong Thi Phuong Lan,Nguyen Duc Huy,Nguyen Ngoc Luong,Hoang Tan Quang,Trinh Huu Tan,Le Thi Anh Thu,Nguyen Xuan Huy 한국식물생명공학회 2019 JOURNAL OF PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY Vol.46 No.3

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of yeast extract (YE) and salicylic acid (SA) on the expression of curcuminoid-biosynthesis genes (CzDCS and CURS1-3), and accumulation of curcumin in Curcuma zedoaria cell cultures. The results showed that, in cells treated with YE or SA, the expression levels of curcuminoid genes were 1.14- to 3.64-fold higher than the control (untreated cells), in which the YE exhibited a stronger effect in comparison with SA. Curcumin accumulation also tended to be similar to gene expression, curcumin contents in YE- or SA-treated cells were 1.61- to 2.53-fold higher than the control. The SA treatment at the fifth day of culture stimulated the curcumin accumulation and expression in all four genes compared to that at the beginning. While the YE treatments gave different results, the CzCURS1 and CzCURS3 genes were expressed strongly in cells that were treated at the beginning. However, the CzDCS and CzCURS2 genes showed the opposite expression pattern, they were activated strongly in the treatments at day five of the culture. However, the content of curcumin reached its maximum value on the fifth day of culture in all investigations.
