Transcription Regulation Network Analysis of MCF7 Breast Cancer Cells Exposed to Estradiol
Wu, Jun-Zhao,Lu, Peng,Liu, Rong,Yang, Tie-Jian Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.8
Background: In breast cancer, estrogen receptors have been demonstrated to interact with transcription factors to regulate target gene expression. However, high-throughput identification of the transcription regulation relationship between transcription factors and their target genes in response to estradiol is still in its infancy. Purpose: Thus, the objective of our study was to interpret the transcription regulation network of MCF7 breast cancer cells exposed to estradiol. Methods: In this work, GSE11352 microarray data were used to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Results: Our results showed that the MYB (v-myb myeloblastosis viral oncogene homolog [avian]), PGR (progesterone receptor), and MYC (v-myc myelocytomatosis viral oncogene homolog [avian]) were hub nodes in our transcriptome network, which may interact with ER and, in turn, regulate target gene expression. MYB can up-regulate MCM3 (minichromosome maintenance 3) and MCM7 expression; PGR can suppress BCL2 (B-cell lymphoma 2) expression; MYC can inhibit TGFB2 (transforming growth factor, beta 2) expression. These genes are associated with breast cancer progression via cell cycling and the $TGF{\beta}$ signaling pathway. Conclusion: Analysis of transcriptional regulation may provide a better understanding of molecular mechanisms and clues to potential therapeutic targets in the treatment of breast cancer.

Based on the change of traditional viscoelastic damper structure, a brand-new damper is designed to control simultaneously the translational vibration and the rotational vibration for platforms. Experimental study has been carried out on the mechanical properties of viscoelastic material and on its multi-dimensional seismic response control effect of viscoelastic damper. Three types of viscoelastic dampers with different shapes of viscoelastic material are designed to test the influence of excited frequency, strain amplitude and ambient temperature on the mechanical property parameters such as circular dissipation per unit, equivalent stiffness, loss factor and storage shear modulus. Then, shaking table tests are done on a group of single-storey platform systems containing one symmetric platform and three asymmetric platforms with different eccentric forms. Experimental results show that the simulation precision of the restoring force model is rather good for the shear deformation of viscoelastic damper and is also satisfied for the torsion deformation and combined deformations of viscoelastic damper. The shaking table tests have verified that the new-type viscoelastic damper is capable of mitigating the multi-dimensional seismic response of offshore platform.
Automatic Acquisition Of Translation Equivalences From Bilingual Corpus
Chun?xiang Zhang,Tie?jun Zhao,Sheng Li 한국어정보학회 2006 한국어정보학 Vol.8 No.1
Translation equivalence is very useful for bilingual lexicography, machine translation system, cross‐lingual information retrieval and many applications in natural language processing. A linear combination model of multiple features is used to filter extracted equivalences in this paper. Experimental results indicate that performance of the combination model surpasses other classifiers’ in open test. 1000 equivalences labeled by linear combination model are randomly selected and then evaluated. Its F1 measure achieves 88.13%. Its performances surpass those classifiers.
Discriminative Models for Automatic Acquisition of Translation Equivalences
Chun-Xiang Zhang,Sheng Li,Tie-Jun Zhao 대한전기학회 2007 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.5 No.1
Translation equivalence is very important for bilingual lexicography, machine translation system and cross-lingual information retrieval. Extraction of equivalences from bilingual sentence pairs belongs to data mining problem. In this paper, discriminative learning methods are employed to filter translation equivalences. Discriminative features including translation literality, phrase alignment probability, and phrase length ratio are used to evaluate equivalences. 1000 equivalences randomly selected are filtered and then evaluated. Experimental results indicate that its precision is 87.8% and recall is 89.8% for support vector machine.
