      • Associations of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in miR-146a, miR-196a, miR-149 and miR-499 with Colorectal Cancer Susceptibility

        Background: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are an abundant class of endogenous small non-coding RNAs of 20-25 nucleotides in length that function as negative gene regulators. MiRNAs play roles in most biological processes, as well as diverse human diseases including cancer. Recently, many studies investigated the association between SNPs in miR-146a rs2910164, miR-196a2 rs11614913, miR-149 rs229283, miR-499 rs3746444 and colorectal cancer (CRC), which results have been inconclusive. Methodology/Principal Findings: PubMed, EMBASE, CNKI databases were searched with the last search updated on November 5, 2013. For miR-196a2 rs11614913, a significantly decreased risk of CRC development was observed under three genetic models (dominant model: OR = 0.848, 95%CI: 0.735-0.979, P = 0.025; recessive model: OR = 0.838, 95%CI: 0.721-0.974, P = 0.021; homozygous model: OR = 0.754, 95%CI: 0.627-0.907, P = 0.003). In the subgroup analyses, miR-$196a2^*T$ variant was associated with a significantly decreased susceptibility of CRC (allele model: OR = 0.839, 95%CI: 0.749-0.940, P = 0.000; dominant model: OR = 0.770, 95%CI: 0.653-0.980, P = 0.002; recessive model: OR = 0.802, 95%CI: 0.685-0.939, P = 0.006; homozygous model: OR = 0.695, 95%CI: 0.570-0.847, P = 0.000). As for miR-149 rs2292832, the two genetic models (recessive model: OR = 1.199, 95% CI 1.028-1.398, P = 0.021; heterozygous model: OR = 1.226, 95% CI 1.039-1.447, P = 0.013) demonstrated increased susceptibility to CRC. On subgroup analysis, significantly increased susceptibility of CRC was found in the genetic models (recessive model: OR = 1.180, 95% CI 1.008-1.382, P = 0.040; heterozygous model: OR = 1.202, 95% CI 1.013-1.425, P = 0.013) in the Asian group. Conclusions: These findings supported that the miR-196a2 rs11614913 and miR-149 rs2292832 polymorphisms may contribute to susceptibility to CRC.

        MiR-214 Regulates the Human Hair Follicle Stem Cell Proliferation and Differentiation by Targeting EZH2 and Wnt/b- Catenin Signaling Way In Vitro

        miR-214 plays a major role in the self-renewal of skin tissue. However, whether miR-214 regulates the proliferation and differentiation of human hair follicle stem cells (HFSCs) is unknown. Primary HFSCs were isolated from human scalp skin tissue, cultured, and identified using flow cytometry. An miR-214 mimic and inhibitor were constructed for transfection into HFSCs. The MTS and colony formation assays examined cell proliferation. Immunofluorescence detected the localization and expression levels of TCF4, b-catenin, and differentiation markers. Luciferase reporter and TOP/FOP Flash assays investigated whether miR-214 targeted EZH2 and regulated the Wnt/b-catenin signaling pathway. Western blot determined the expression levels of enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), Wnt/b-catenin signaling-related proteins, and HFSC differentiation markers in cells subjected to miR-214 transfection. miR-214 expression was remarkably decreased during the proliferation and differentiation of HFSCs into transit-amplifying (TA) cells. Downregulation of miR- 214 promotes the proliferation and differentiation of HFSCs. Overexpression of miR-214 led to decreased expression of EZH2, b-catenin, and TCF-4, whereas downregulation of miR-214 resulted in increased expression of EZH2, b-catenin, and TCF-4 as well as TA differentiation markers. Immunofluorescence assay revealed that inhibiting miR-214 triggered the entry of b-catenin and TCF-4 into the nucleus. The luciferase reporter and TOP/FOP Flash assays demonstrated that miR- 214 directly targets EZH2 and affects Wnt/b-catenin signaling. The miR-214/EZH2/b-catenin axis could be considered a candidate target in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine for HFSCs.

        일반논문 : 영화를 활용한 한국어 듣기 말하기 통합 교육 방안 -중국 현지 대학생을 대상으로-

        Recently the number of Korean learners has been increasing and thus, as a foreign language, Korean communication has become emphasized. Currently there are courses that teach listening and speaking. However, there are barely any courses that teach speaking and learning with an emphasis on communication. In this research, teaching using movies as a learning material is proposed for the third and fourth year students majoring in Korean at a Chinese University, who out of the four skills are weakest in listening and speaking. Because movies are visual and present a realistic situation in which the learner can indirectly experience everyday life conversations and culture, movie can easily gain the interest of the learner, so it is appropriate in raising the listening and speaking levels of the learner. First, in current Korean language education, the crucially viewed points and the necessity and goal of movies is explored. Korean language education in China, in particular the listening and speaking education is explored. Then the problems are revealed the preference of movies by university students is explored through a survey given to current 100 third and fourth year Chinese University students. Through the analysis of the survey the students reaction to movies is explored. Starting with the special features of movies, methods on how to use movies discussed. Then the connection of movies and Korean language education and what kind of effect it has is explored. Movies, as a learning material, how to effectively use them and what kind of basic features a useful movie must have is also explored. Using these basic features, a list of movies from 2001 to 2010, that have educational value, is made. Putting these features into consideration, 국가대표 is chosen as an sample movie and using this movie as learning material a Korean language teaching guide focusing on listening and speaking is presented. Finally, activities combining listening and speaking is explored.

        当事人协议选择外国法院条款的排他性问题

        The new Chinese Civil Procedure Code repeals the provisions about the Choice-of-Court agreement of the foreign-related civil procedure and incorporates them into the system of the domestic procedure. Because of the inexactitude of art. 34, the question whether the parties could choose foreign courts becomes in doubt. The new Interpretation of the Supreme People’s Court on the Application of the Civil Procedure Law of the People’s Republic of China has answered this question in positive. The second question is which law should be applied to the Choice-of-Court agreement. A distinction should be made between the validity and the enforceability of the Choice-of-Court Agreement. The former is governed by the law which the parties choose. The latter is governed by the lex forum. Art. 34 adopts the Real Connection Principle which were frequently used by the Chinese courts. This Principle has its legality and legitimacy in international law and may be carried on in the future. From the experience of other countries, the new legislation should try to take care of our own judicial practice. China’s Supreme People’s Court has form the system with Chinese characteristics about the contractual jurisdiction of the foreign-related civil litigation.

        Adsorption of carbon dioxide and water vapor on fly-ash based ETS-10

        CO2 capture from humid flue gas is always costly due to the irreplaceable pretreatment of dehydration in current processes, which creates an urgent demand for moisture-insensitive adsorbents with considerable CO2 uptakes as well as remarkable H2O tolerances. In the present work, the microporous titanium silicate molecular sieve ETS-10 was synthesized with coal fly ash as the only silica source. The as-synthesized ETS-10 was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy and infrared spectroscopy to verify its crystal morphology, in which neither impurity nor aggregation was observed. The following CO2 adsorption experiments on the thermal gravimetric analyzer demonstrated its similar CO2 adsorption capacity yet dramatical adsorption kinetics among some other microporous materials, e.g., potassium chabazite. These specific properties consequently guaranteed its favorable CO2 adsorption capacity even at high temperatures (1.35mmol/g at 393 K) and shortened the breakthrough time of single CO2 flow to less than 20 s. In CO2/H2O binary breakthrough experiments, the as-obtained ETS-10 still maintained excellent CO2 uptake of 0.81mmol/g at 323 K, regardless of the presence of water vapor, making it a promising substitute for direct CO2 separation from humid flue gases at practical conditions of post-combustion adsorption.

      • Lack of Association between the COMT rs4680 Polymorphism and Ovarian Cancer Risk: Evidence from a Meta-analysis of 3,940 Individuals

        Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is involved in estrogen metabolism and is vital to estrogen-induced carcinogenesis, including that of ovarian cancer. Although many recent epidemiologic studies have investigated associations between the COMT rs4680 polymorphism and ovarian cancer risk, the results remain inconclusive. We therefore performed a meta-analysis to derive a more precise estimate of associations. Systematic searches of the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Wanfang, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Chinese Biomedicine databases were undertaken to retrieve eligible studies. Odds ratios (ORs) with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were pooled to assess the strength of the association. In total, 8 case-control studies involving 1,293 cases and 2,647 controls were included in the meta-analysis. Overall, the results showed no evidence of significant association between the COMT rs4680 polymorphism and ovarian cancer risk in any of the assessed genetic models. Subgroup analyses by ethnicity also did not reveal any significant association in any genetic model (p>0.05). In conclusion, our findings suggest that the COMT rs4680 polymorphism may not contribute to the risk of ovarian cancer.

      • Analysis and Corresponding Measures on Subsynchronous Resonance of Series Compensated Transmission for Large-scale Coal-fired Power Base in China

        This paper investigates the risk assessment of subsynchronous resonance for series compensated UHV transmission of Ximeng coal-fired power base, which exemplifies a common problem in the development of the power grid in China. To avoid the problem of huge computational amount of offline analysis on subsynchronous resonance, a new method of online analysis and forewarning based on time-domain simulation is proposed. In addition, various suppression measures are summarized and discussed, as well as combination of multiple measures.

      • Luminescence and microstructures of Eu<sup>3+</sup>-doped Ca<sub>9</sub>LiGd<sub>2/3</sub>(PO<sub>4</sub>)<sub>7</sub>

        <P>A red-emitting phosphor, Eu<SUP>3+</SUP>-doped Ca<SUB>9</SUB>LiGd<SUB>2/3</SUB>(PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>7</SUB>, was synthesized by the conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction. X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analyses confirmed the pure crystalline phase of Whitlockite-type structure. The excitation spectra of Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> doped Ca<SUB>9</SUB>LiGd<SUB>2/3</SUB>(PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>7</SUB> were measured in the VUV and UV region indicating an efficient energy transfer process from the host and Gd<SUP>3+</SUP> to Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> ions. Upon excitation with VUV and UV radiation, the phosphor showed strong red emission around 611 nm corresponding to the forced electric dipole <SUP>5</SUP>D<SUB>0</SUB>→<SUP>7</SUP>F<SUB>2</SUB> transition of Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> ions. The VUV- and UV-excited luminescence spectra of Ca<SUB>9</SUB>LiGd<SUB>2/3</SUB>(PO<SUB>4</SUB>)<SUB>7</SUB>:Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> together with the dependence of the integrated emission intensities on the doping levels were investigated. The Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> ions were investigated by a tunable laser as an excitation source. The excitation spectra of <SUP>7</SUP>F<SUB>0</SUB>→ <SUP>5</SUP>D<SUB>0</SUB> transitions suggest that there are two families of inequivalent sites for Eu<SUP>3+</SUP> in this host.
