      • Efficient spectrum sharing with avoiding spatial fragmentation of white space

        Takashi Kosugi,Takeo Fujii 한국통신학회 2015 ICT Express Vol.1 No.2

This letter proposes an efficient spectrum sharing by using a smart channel selection with considering the spatial shape of white space (WS) for cognitive radio systems. Here, we consider the environment in which secondary users (SUs) share the same spectrum with multiple channels. In such situation, the assignment channel avoiding spatial fragmentation is important because other SUs can easily access to remaining WS. In this paper, we utilize a perimeter to area ratio of WS for channel assignment as a criterion for evaluating value of remaining WS. We confirm the effectiveness of the proposed spectrum sharing method by using computer simulations.

      • Highly Efficient PIV Measurement of Complex Flows Using Refractive Index Matching Technique

Koichi NISHINO,Daisuke KAWAGUCHI,Takashi KOSUGI,Haruo ISODA 한국가시화정보학회 2004 KOREA-JAPAN Joint Seminar on Particle Image Veloci Vol.- No.-

A new approach for PIV measurements of complex flows encountered in various applications is presented. It is based on rapid-prototyping of transparent model for flow visualization and on the use of refractive index matching that enables efficient and clear visualization of the flow inside the model. The model is immersed in the index-matching fluid in a glass tank so that any displacement and rotation of the model in the tank have no influence on the optical setup for image acquisition to be made through a glass wall. This can facilitate greatly the camera calibration for stereo PIV and 3-D PIV. As the flow model is generated directly from 3-D surface data, no laborious preparation of the flow model is needed. This approach for seamless linking of model generation and PIV measurement is applicable to various flow measurements in automobile, ship building, fluid machinery, turbine, electrical appliances, heat exchanger, electronic cooling, bio-engineering and so on.

Ionic liquid type dye-sensitized solar cells:increases in photovoltaic performances by adding a smallamount of water

        Satoshi Mikoshiba,Shinji Murai,Hiroyasu Sumino,Takashi Kado,Daisuke Kosugi,Shuzi Hayase 한국물리학회 2005 Current Applied Physics Vol.5 No.2

Increases in photovoltaic performances for dye-sensitized solar cells having ionic liquid type electrolytes are reported. These re-sults are explained by diusion coecient for I3. , charge transfer resistances on counter electrodes, at band potentials of TiO2,redox potentials for I. /I3. , electron diusion constants, electron life time, and diusion length in TiO2 layers. Methylpropylimid-azolium iodide is selected because of the lowest viscosity and the highest conductivity. Increases in the photovoltaic performance areobserved when a small amount of water was added into the ionic liquid consisting of both LiI andt-butylpyridine as the additives. These improvements are brought about by enhancements of all ofJsc, andVoc. The increases inJscand are associated with thedecrease in charge transfer resistances on counter electrodes and increases in ionic conductivities.Voc may be explained by an in-crease in the dierence between redox potentials of I. /I3. and Fermi level..

Small Bowel Obstruction After Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis With a Loop Ileostomy in Patients With Ulcerative Colitis

        Hitoshi Kameyama,Yoshifumi Hashimoto,Yoshifumi Shimada,Saki Yamada,Ryoma Yagi,Yosuke Tajima,Takuma Okamura,Masato Nakano,Kohei Miura,Masayuki Nagahashi,Jun Sakata,Takashi Kobayashi,Shin-ichi Kosugi,To 대한대장항문학회 2018 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.34 No.2

Purpose: Small bowel obstruction (SBO) remains a common complication after pelvic or abdominal surgery. However, the risk factors for SBO in ulcerative colitis (UC) surgery are not well known. The aim of the present study was to clarify the risk factors associated with SBO after ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) with a loop ileostomy for patients with UC. Methods: The medical records of 96 patients who underwent IPAA for UC between 1999 and 2011 were reviewed. SBO was confirmed based on the presence of clinical symptoms and radiographic findings. The patients were divided into 2 groups: the SBO group and the non-SBO group. We also analyzed the relationship between SBO and computed tomography (CT) scan image parameters. Results: The study included 49 male and 47 female patients. The median age was 35.5 years (range, 14–72 years). We performed a 2- or 3-stage procedure as a total proctocolectomy and IPAA for patients with UC. SBO in the pretakedown of the loop ileostomy after IPAA occurred in 22 patients (22.9%). Moreover, surgical intervention for SBO was required for 11 patients. In brief, closure of the loop ileostomy was performed earlier than expected. A multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the 2-stage procedure (odds ratio, 2.850; 95% confidence interval, 1.009–8.044; P = 0.048) was a significant independent risk factor associated with SBO. CT scan image parameters were not significant risk factors of SBO. Conclusion: The present study suggests that a 2-stage procedure is a significant risk factor associated with SBO after IPAA in patients with UC.
