Service Adaptation Middleware for Video Service in Ubiquitous Environment

Lately the usage of multimedia equipment with small LCD displays is rapidly increasing. Although many people use devices like this, videos intended for TV or HDTV are sent to these mobile devices. Therefore cases where it is hard for the user to view the desired scenes are growing more frequent. Currently, most services simply reduce the size of the content to fit the screen when they offer it for mobile devices. However, especially with sports broadcasts, there are many areas that cannot be seen very well because it was simply reduced in size. We therefore consider this weakness and are researching how to let the user choose an area of interest and then sending it to the user in a way that fits the device.
스마트 환경에서 이-러닝 서비스를 위한 학습 미디어 Harmonizing 기법 연구

학습자들은 스마트 디바이스를 이용하여 언제 어디서나 인터넷 접속을 통한 각종 학습처리까지 가능하다. 일상생활에서 계속적으로 스마트 디바이스를 이용할 수 있는 인터넷의 자유를 얻는 만큼 학습자들의 다양한 학습(learning) 서비스 요구와 이용 또한 활발해 진 것이다. 이점에서 요구하는 학습의 관련된 자료들을 동시에 제공할 수 있는 조화로운 융합형 학습 서비스를 제공하는 새로운 이-러닝 연구의 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 융합형 학습 서비스는 하나의 혹은 여러 디바이스를 통해 복합 미디어를 구성하는 각각의 콘텐츠간의 조화로운 동기화는 중요 조건이다. 현재는 대표적으로 융합미디어간의 동기화를 제공하는 방법은 콘텐츠간 절대적인 시간 값을 맞추는 방법이다. 그러나 이 방법은 콘텐츠를 전송시 시간적인 딜레이 발생한다. 또한 콘텐츠의 지속시간에 대한 절대적인 시간값을 직접 입력해야하는 번거로움이 있으며, 콘텐츠 작성 시 여러 문제들이 발생한다. 본 논문에는 동기화 문제를 해결 할 수 있는 내용에 따른 하모나이징 동기화 기법 모델(Harmonizing Sync Model)을 제고하고자 한다. 내용에 따른 동기화 기법은 학습 콘텐츠를 집합관계를 효과적으로 모델링 하여 다양한 학습 융합미디어를 갖춘 스마트러닝 개념이다. The learners using learning content through the smart devices can access to the Internet from anytime and anywhere. However, with the rapid increase of learning content on the Web, it will be time-consuming for learners to find contents they really want to and need to study. Therefore, e-learning systems should not only provide flexible content delivery, but support adaptive harmonizing fusion content. The harmonizing fusion content it is a very important in fusion e-learning service. The representative method to provide synchronization between fusion content is a provide absolute time value between of the contents. However, this method is occurs a problem transferring time delay. Also, to enter an absolute time value for the duration of the each content is several problems arise. In this paper introduces a new smart e-smart service support the harmonizing media based technology to create synchronized learning presentation.
컴퓨터 시스템 및 이론 : 멀티 디바이스 환경을 위한 모빌리티 프로세스 오케스트레이션

최근 IT 분야의 화두 중 하나는 ``모빌리티(mobility)``이다. 이동성 및 가동성 등의 뜻을 가진 모빌리티는 사용자의 정보를 획득하여 사용자에게 서비스 이동의 자유로움을 제공할 수 있다는 의미이다. 본 논문에서는 모빌리티 환경에서 다양한 미디어를 다양한 디바이스로 이동할 수 있는 프로세스 오케스트레이션(MPO: Mobility Process Orchestration) 모델을 제안하고자 한다. 오케스트레이션 모델은 사용자 환경에 있는 디바이스를 오브젝트화하여 사용자에게 원하는 미디어를 원하는 디바이스에 MSMP(Multi Source Multi Platform)형태로 제공할 수 있는 구조와 기능을 제공한다. 이뿐만 아니라, 커리어그래피(Choreography)의 개념을 이용하여 다양한 미디어 형식에 맞는 디바이스만을 추출 및 오케스트레이션 하여 사용자에게 조화로운 서비스(Harmonizing Service)를 지향한다. Recently, the ``mobility`` is one of the essential item in the field of IT. This means that ``mobility`` are good mediators to get collecting user`s behavior and provide freedom of mobility service for user`s. This paper is proposed a mobility process orchestration(MPO) model that provide multimedia to various devices. The orchestration model provides the structure and function that can be objectify a physical devices in a user`s environment to provide orchestrated service of various devices to user using a concept of MSMP(Multi Source Multi Platform). Also, using the concept of Choreography can be extracted appropriate device of the various media formats for harmonious service.
Generating Thermotolerant Colonies by Pairing Beauveria bassiana Isolates

Low thermotolerance in entomopathogenic fungi is the main impediment to their industrialization. This research, for the first time, describes the generation of a thermotolerant colony by pairing and subculturing two Beauveria bassiana isolates without sexual reproduction. A mixture of B. bassiana ERL1578 and ERL1576 was inoculated on 1/4SDAY. The paired culture was subcultured three times, followed by a heat treatment as a selection pressure. Two morphologically different colonies (BbHet1 and BbHet2) were isolated from the pairing. BbHet2 had the most rapid mycelial growth and produced sponge-like mycelial masses (the others were flat), and its conidia were darker than the non-paired colonies under a microscope. BbHet2 conidia had 60.7% germination after exposure to 45°C for 60 min (the others had <15%) without significant loss of virulence against western flower thrips, but a slight decrease in conidial yield was found. Sequencing of Bloc locus and 2-D electrophoresis were done to further clarify the phenomenon. The new phenotypes formed suggested that a genetic variation happened as a result of heterokaryosis and/or recombination, more than environmental adaptation, when mixing different conidia. This methodology seems to be very useful for enhancing thermotolerance in fungi.
Management of Frankliniella occidentalis (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) with Entomopathogenic Fungi

Reported herein is the use of mycotized millet grains with entomopathogenic fungi applied to soil to control western flower thrips (WFT), Franklinella occidentalis. The majority of mature larvae move from plants to soil for pupation. Mycotized millet grains with Beauveria bassiana ERL1170 and Metarhizium anisopliae ERL1171 were mixed in the upper layer of potting soil containing a blossomed marigold as a banker plant. B. bassiana GHA, a commercial isolate, served as a control. One week post applicaion 3 mated WFT females were added per plant. At 8 wks post infestation WFT mortality in pots with ERL1170 and ERL1171 treatments was 90% and 81% respectively compared to GHA with 15% mortality. Plants in the two ERL treatments had lower levels of damage. The insecticidal activities were positively associated with the fungal soil colonization. No significant release of fungal innoculum from the potting medium was observed. These results suggest that soil applications of entomopathogenic fungi can reduce WFT populations to significantly low levels by targeting pupae. Application timing and the life cycle of WFT are important considerations.
