<B>Graphic Abstract</B> <P>The cover shows an image of fully rollable transparent nanogenerators synthesized using chemical vapor deposition grown large-scale graphene sheets as transparent electrodes and piezoelectric ZnO nanorod arrays. Sang-Woo Kim, Jae-Young Choi, and co-workers report on p. 2187 the electrical and structural stability of the nanogenerators, with excellent charge scavenging performance under external mechanical loads such as bending and rolling. This study shows that graphene-based nanogenerators are very promising for self-powered rollable transparent device applications. <img src='wiley_img_2010/09359648-2010-22-19-ADMA201090066-content.gif' alt='wiley_img_2010/09359648-2010-22-19-ADMA201090066-content'> </P>

Yoon, Ju Young,Park, Hyeon Jin,Ju, Hee Young,Yoon, Jong Hyung,Chung, Jin Soo,Hwang, Sang Hyun,Lee, Dong Ock,Shim, Hye Young,Park, Byung-Kiu 대한암학회 2017 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.49 No.4
<P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>Few studies have addressed gonadal and sexual dysfunctions in childhood cancer survivors. We evaluated the prevalence rates and risk factors for gonadal failure among adolescent/young adult childhood cancer survivors and their sexual function.</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>Subjects were childhood cancer survivors aged 15-29 years who had completed therapy more than 2 years ago. Demographic and medical characteristics were obtained from the patients’ medical records. In addition, hormonal evaluation and semen analysis were performed and sexual function was evaluated via questionnaire.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The study included 105 survivors (57 males, 48 females), of which 61 were adults (age > 19 years) and 44 were adolescents. In both males and females, the proportion of survivors with low sex hormone levels did not differ among age groups or follow-up period. Thirteen female subjects (27.1%) needed sex hormone replacement, while five males subjects (8.8%) were suspected of having hypogonadism, but none were receiving sex hormone replacement. Of 27 semen samples, 14 showed azospermia or oligospermia. The proportion of normospermia was lower in the high cyclophosphamide equivalent dose (CED) group (CED ≥ 8,000 mg/m2) than the low CED group (27.3% vs. 62.5%, p=0.047). Among adults, none were married and only 10 men (35.7%) and eight women (34.3%) were in a romantic relationship. Though a significant proportion (12.0% of males and 5.3% of females) of adolescent survivors had experienced sexual activity, 13.6% had not experienced sex education.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The childhood cancer survivors in this study showed a high prevalence of gonadal/sexual dysfunction; accordingly, proper strategies are needed to manage these complications.</P>

<P>The low-frequency noise (LFN) of a p-type nanowire FET (p-NWFET) was characterized and compared with that of an n-type NWFET (n-NWFET) in terms of dominant noise source and its location in the channel region. An inverse proportional dependence of the noise level on channel diameter was observed in the p-NWFET but not in the n-NWFET. The LFN was observed to be mainly generated by Hooge mobility fluctuation in the p-NWFET. Under a switched biasing condition, p-NWFET showed no substantial LFN reduction (in contrast to the n-NWFET), indicating that the carrier number fluctuation was insignificant. This was due to the compressive stress induced by embedded SiGe with heavier transverse effective hole mobility.</P>
Erlotinib Induced Trichomegaly of the Eyelashes
Sang Hoon Jeon,Jeong Seon Ryu,Gwang Seong Choi,Jung Soo Kim,Hea Yoon Kwon,Min Su Kim,Hae Seong Nam,Jae Hwa Cho,Seung Min Kwak,Hong Lyeol Lee,Hyun Jung Kim,Geun Jeong Hong 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 2013 Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Vol.74 No.1
Epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been widely used for non-small-cell lung cancer patients. Its untoward cutaneous effects are largely well known and developed in many patients treated with EGFR TKIs. However trichomegaly of eyelash is rarely reported. Although trichomegaly is not a drug-limiting side effect, it could be troublesome of continuing the treatment because of cosmetic issue or eyeball irritation by long eyelashes. Therefore clinicians are needed to pay attention to this uncommon effect. We herein describe erlotinib induced trichomegaly of eyelashes in a woman with adenocarcinoma of the lung.

<P> Zinc-manganese mixed oxide (ZMO)/carbon nanotube (CNT) composites are synthesized based on an electronic wiring design for use in Li-ion batteries. The resulting composite consists of ZMO nanoparticles in intimate contact with CNT. The ZMO nanoparticles, which are in the electrical wiring with the CNTs, exhibit an additional conversion reaction involving MnO/Mn3O4, resulting in an enhanced reversible capacity up to 1050 mA h g-1, which exceeds the theoretical reversible capacity of ZnMn2O4 (780 mA h g-1). During the synthesis of the ZMO/CNT composite, calcination in the presence of NH3 gas not only inhibits the oxidative decomposition of the CNTs but also reduces the oxidation state of Mn in the resulting composite. The elimination of superfluous oxygen (decrease in oxidation state of Mn in ZMO) leads to a decrease in irreversible capacities during the first cycle, directly related to energy efficiency. </P>
Clinical and anatomical approach using Sihler's staining technique (whole mount nerve stain)
Sung-Yoon Won,Da-Hye Kim,Hun-Mu Yang,Jong-Tae Park,Hyun-Ho Kwak,Kyung-Seok Hu,Hee-Jin Kim 대한해부학회 2011 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.44 No.1
Sihler’s staining allows visualization of the nerve distribution within soft tissues without extensive dissection and does not require slide preparation, unlike traditional approaches. This technique can be applied to the mucosa, muscle, and organs that contain myelinated nerve fibers. In particular, Sihler’s technique may be considered the best tool for observing nerve distribution within skeletal muscles. The intramuscular distribution pattern of nerves is difficult to observe through manual manipulation due to the gradual tapering of nerves toward the terminal end of muscles, so it should be accompanied by histological studies to establish the finer branches therein. This method provides useful information not only for anatomists but also for physiologists and clinicians. Advanced knowledge of the nerve distribution patterns will be useful for developing guidelines for clinicians who perform operations such as muscle resection, tendon transplantation, and botulinum toxin injection. Furthermore, it is a useful technique to develop neurosurgical techniques and perform electrophysiological experiments. In this review, Sihler’s staining technique is described in detail, covering its history, staining protocol, advantages, disadvantages, and possible applications. The application of this technique for determining the arterial distribution pattern is also described additionally in this study.
Malignant melanoma of the gallbladder: A case report and literature review
Hyun-Jeong Jeon,Hyung-Jun Kwon,Sang-Geol Kim,Yoon-Jin Hwang 한국간담췌외과학회 2021 Annals of hepato-biliary-pancreatic surgery Vol.25 No.3
Metastatic melanoma of the gallbladder is extremely rare. It has a poor prognosis. Its optimal treatment remains unclear. Surgical resection is generally considered the mainstay of treatment. However, there are no standards to guide the choice between open surgery and laparoscopic surgery. Criteria for the extent of surgical dissection have not been established yet either. We report a patient diagnosed with gallbladder cancer who underwent extended cholecystectomy but had metastatic melanoma at the final biopsy. We reviewed the literature on the treatment of metastatic melanoma in the gallbladder and compared it with our case to determine a treatment strategy.
