        Effect of Inhomogeneous Nucleation of Hydride at α/β Phase Boundary on Microstructure Evolution of Zr–2.5 wt%Nb Pressure Tube

        We analyzed the microstructural characteristics such as number density and length and width of hydrides in Zr–2.5 wt%Nbpressure tube. The hydrogen was charged cathodically and the hydride-contained sample was evaluated using the advancedanalysis methodologies. We performed a diff erential scanning calorimetry analysis to more quantitatively understand thethermodynamics of the hydride formation/growth process. We characterized the micrograph of hydride-contained Zr samplesto estimate the microstructural characteristics of the matrix and hydrides. We investigated eff ects of hydrogen concentrationand microstructure of matrix on determining microstructural measures of the hydrides. Particularly, we found that β phasein the matrix becomes isolated during the heat treatment same or above 475 °C and this change increases the inhomogeneousnucleation sites signifi cantly. We claim that the microstructure change of this matrix phase greatly increases the numberdensity of hydride.

Proceedings of International Symposium on East-West Medicine, Seoul. 201-211, 1999. -Nephroprotective effects of a crude drug-prearation (E-kong-san) were determined from cisplatin on rabbit kidney proximal tubule and human renal cortical cells by MTT assays and sustained glucose consumption on ciplatin-induced human renal cortical tissue. Levels of creatinine and blood ure nitrogen(BUN) in serum after administration of cisplatin(0.75mg/kg,i.p.) to E-kong-san(0.75g/kg/day,p.o.)-pretreated rats were markedly lower compared to those of cisplatin-treated rats. Moreover, the administration of E-kong-san significantly inhibited the loss of body weight of cisplatin injected rts. These findings suggest that E-kong-san on the cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity led us to investigate whether the effect of this water extract was a result of anti-oxidation. E-kong-san showed strong free radical scavenger activities on 1,1-dipheny1-2picrylhydrazil(DPPH) radical and xanthine/xanthine oxidase(XOD) generated superoxide anion radical(O2-). We further studied the effects of E-kong-san on lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes induced by enzymatic and nonenzymatic methods. E-kong-san exhibited significant inhibition on both ascorbic acid/Fe2+and ADP/NADPH/Fe3+ induced lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes. Based on these results, we suggest that-E-kong-san attenuate the cisplatin induced cytotoxicity and its mechanism can be eplained by antioxidant.

        Tuberculosis risk is associated with genetic polymorphisms in the LRP2, CUBN, and VDR genes

        Background Vitamin D (Vit. D) is used extensively during tuberculosis treatment. Low levels of serum Vit. D increase the risk of active tuberculosis development. Altered expression of the proteins involved in Vit. D metabolism impairs cathelicidin production, thereby increasing the host susceptibility to tuberculosis. Objective We are trying to investigate whether single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in LRP2, CUBN, and VDR genes could afect tuberculosis development. Methods We included participants of the Korean Association Resource (KARE), part of the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES), and used their recorded data. A total of 8840 people (4182 men and 4658 women) were eligible subjects. The 5-kb regions from the ends of transcripts of GC, LRP2, CUBN, and VDR genes were amplifed to select 13, 47, 70, and 15 SNPs, respectively. For association analysis and statistical analysis, PLINK version 1.07 and PASW Statistics version 18.0 were used. Results Signifcant correlation was observed in 11, 2, and 1 SNPs in LRP2, CUBN, and VDR genes. The efect of rs6747692 of LRP2 on transcription factor binding was confrmed using RegulomeDB. We confrmed that rs2239182 of VDR is located in the genomic eQTL region and can afect transcription factor binding and gene expression. Conclusions Genetic polymorphisms in genes encoding proteins involved in Vit. D metabolism infuence immune system components. Therefore, such polymorphisms may infuence the susceptibility to Mycobacterium tuberculosis invasion and alter the defense mechanisms against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. The correlation between genetic variation and tuberculosis development can provide new guidelines for the management of tuberculosis.

        노동시장에서의 성별 취업구조에 관한 연구

        노동시장의 중요한 변화 중의 하나인 여성비의 증가는 그 변화의 중심축을 형성하고 있다. 이에 본 연구논문은 우리나라 노동시장의 취업구조를 직종별․산업별․종사상지위별․교육단계별․취업시간별로 구분하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 성별 취업자에서 여성이 차지하는 비율이 지속적으로 상승하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직종별 및 성별 취업구조를 분석한 결과 성별 직종분절화현상이 여전히 심각한 수준에 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 의회의원, 고위 임직원 및 관리자 직종과 전문가 직종과 같은 고임금 및 고급직종에서의 여성의 분포는 남성에 비하면 극히 낮은 분포를 보이고 있었다. 셋째, 직종별 분포에서와 마찬가지로 산업별 취업자의 분포에서도 여성근로자들은 특정 산업에 집중분포되어 있는 것으로 나타나 산업별로도 성별 분절화현상이 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 종사상지위별 구성비를 분석한 결과 여성근로자들은 남성근로자에 비해 상대적으로 ‘무급가족종사자’나 ‘일용근로자’부문에 더 높은 비중을 나타냄으로써 여전히 적은 수입으로 불안정적인 고용 속에서 종사하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 교육단계별 구성비를 분석한 결과 여성근로자의 구성비는 남성근로자에 비해 교육단계가 낮은 그룹에서 상대적으로 더 높게 관찰되었다. 여섯째, 취업시간별 취업자의 구성비에서는 남성의 근로시간이 여성의 근로시간을 앞서고 있어 남성은 여성에 비해 노동시장에 더욱 적극적으로 참여하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. This study investigates in the employment structure by gender in Korea. The purpose of this study is to investigate recent trend in women s economic status and role. The empirical findings are as follows : 1. Female percentage of labor market in Korea has steadily increased recently. It has stimulated variety of research about women s economic status. 2. The occupational sex segregation has not improved. 3. Female percentage in high education level is relatively lower. 4. Women s economic status of labor market is relatively lower. Although female labor force participation has increased steadily, the occupational sex segregation has not improved. The wage gap by gender has declined, but the occupational sex segregation is getting worse. This results came from increasing demand for women s labor in female dominated occupation. The decline of gender wage gap cannot be interpreted as a relaxation of sexual discrimination. Without improvement in occupational sex segregation and ongoing crowding effect, increase in female participation would lead to higher gender wage gap. Therefore, improvement of occupational sex segregation should precede reduction in gender wage gap.

      • “근대불교 강맥(講脈)의 사자상승 연구 - 석전 박한영을 중심으로”

        한국불교는 전통적으로 참선 수행을 중시해왔다. 근대에 들어서도 비슷한 양상이 이어졌지만, 근대학문을 수용하면서 교학을 확장 시켰다. 특히 20세기 전반 석전 박한영(石顚 朴漢永, 1870~1948)을 비롯해 진응혜찬(震應慧燦, 1873∼1941), 금봉병연(錦峰秉演, 1869~1916), 진호석연(震湖錫淵, 1880~1965), 퇴경상로(退耕相老, 1879~1965), 포광영수(包光映遂, 1884~1967) 등이 대강백으로 활약했다. 이들은 제자 가운데 교학에 밝고 후학을 양성할 만한 자격을 갖추었을 때 강맥(講脈)을 전했다. 석전 박한영은 “교육을 진흥시키는 자는 마땅히 불도(佛道)를 이루리라”며 인재 양성을 강조했다. 근현대 한국불교의 주요 강사를 배출한 박한영은 일제강점기 조선불교의 정체성을 수호하며, 독립운동가들과 교유한대표적인 선지식이다. 석전 박한영의 전강 제자는 운기성원(雲起性元, 1898~1982), 운허용하(耘虛龍夏, 1892~1980), 운성승희(雲惺昇熙, 1910~1995), 고봉태수(高峰泰秀, 1905~1968), 성능복문(性能福文), 철운종현(鐵雲宗玄, 1906∼1989), 명봉(明峯), 학봉 등이 있다. 이들 8명을 비롯해 손제자 26명, 증손제자 108명, 고손제자 23명 등 모두 165명이 석전 박한영의 강맥을 이었다. 이 가운데 상당수는 동국대 총장, 중앙승가대 교수, 해인사 승가대학장, 통도사 승가대학장, 동화사 승가대학장, 운문사 승가대학장, 봉녕사 승가대학장 등 종단의 주요 교육기관에서 후학을 양성했다. 또한 종정, 총무원장, 중앙종회의장, 총무원 집행부, 교구본사 주지 등 종단의 주요 소임을 본 사례도 상당수이다. 석전 박한영의 제자들은 교학 발전은 물론 근현대 한국불교에 큰 영향을 끼쳤다. Korean Buddhism has traditionally placed great importance on Ganhwaseon(看話禪). A similar pattern continued in modern times, but modern studies were accepted to expand teaching. In particular, Park Han-young, Jin Eung-hyechan, Geum Bong-yeon, Jin Ho Seok-yeon, Toekyung-ro, and Fogwang Young-soo took on the role of teachers. In the first half of the 20th century, they took on the role of teaching their disciples. And they passed on their Gangmaek (講脈) to those who were qualified to cultivate future generations. Park Han-young emphasized nurturing talent, saying, “Education is more important than anything else.” Park Han-young, who produced major scholars of modern and contemporary Korean Buddhism, is a representative monk who maintained the identity of Joseon Buddhism and communicated with independence activists during the Japanese colonial period. Park Han-young's disciples include Ungi Sung-won, Un Yong-ha, Unseong Seung-hee, Go Bong Tae-soo, Sung Neung Bok-mun, Cheol Un Jong-hyun, Myeongbong, and Hakbong. Park Han-young's students have been identified so far, with a total of 165. Among his disciples, he taught students at major educational institutions, including the president of Dongguk University, a professor at Chung-Ang University, the president of Haein Temple Sangha University, the president of Donghwa Temple Sangha University, the president of Donghwasa Sangha University, the president of Unmun Temple Sangha University, and the president of Bongnyeong Temple Sangha University. There are also many disciples who held important positions in the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. The disciples of Seokjeon Park Han-yeong had a great influence on the development of modern Korean Buddhism and Buddhist studies.

        3003 알루미늄 합금판재의 성형성에 관한 연구

        The formability of 0.4mm and 0.6mm thick Al alloy 3003 sheet that had been double cold rolled and annealed was evaluated by analyzing its uniaxial tensile behavior, forming limit curve (F.L.C.), pole figure analysis, and earing behavior. The F.L.C. level of Al alloy 3003 sheet was considerably lower than those of the low carbon steels (Keeler-Goodwin Band). As the thickness of sheet increased, the F.L.C. level of Al alloy 3003 sheet became higher. The experimental strain ratio (R-value) was compared well with the theoretical R-value calculated by the Lee-Oh method, and the cup made an earing in the direction of the high R-value. It was found that the earing height decreased when the mixture of rolling and annealing textures developed.

        아크릴계 점착제의 제조와 가교물성에 관한 연구

        압력감응성 아크릴 점착제의 물성은 가교를 위한 관능성그룹을 가진 단량체를 이용하여 쉽게 물성을 조절할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 두개의 다른 가교제, isocyanate 및 epoxy형 가교제에 따른 아크릴 점착제의 가교특성과 물성을 연구하였다. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate, acrylic acid (AA)와 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate를 주 단량체로 하여 이소시아네이트 또는 에폭시형 가교제로 가교한 점착제의 박리점착 특성, 볼텍, 유지력 및 수축성을 고찰하였다. 점착특성은 AA함량 증가와 더불어 증가하였고 가교점이 많고 ether와 같은 유연한 결합을 생성하는 에폭시형 가교제에서 우수한 물성을 나타내었다. The physical properties of the acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) can be easily controlled by a proper functional monomer which has functional groups for crosslinking. This study was to investigate the effect of crosslinking agents, isocyanate and epoxy types, of acrylic PSAs on adhesive properties. 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate, acrylic acid (AA), and 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate as monomer were used. The obtained samples with different AA contents were partially crosslinked with epoxy- or isocyanate-typed agent. Peel strength, balltack, holding power test and contraction percentage of the obtained PSA were evaluated. Most properties of acrylic PSAs were increased with AA content and acrylic PSAs with epoxy-typed crosslinking agent (4 crosslinking sites) which produces flexible link (ether), showed better properties than those of isocyanate-typed one (3 crosslinking sites).

        외과영역 복강경수술의 임상치험

        N/A The 19 months clinical experiences about 634 cases of laparoscpic surgery were reviewed at Sung-Ae General Hospital from July 1991 to Jan. 1993 The results were as follows; Among 168 cases of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and 5 cases of laparoscopic CBD exploration, we obtained better results with advantages of laparoscopic surgery including few complications, less morbidity and early return to work. In series of 361 cases of laparoscopic appendectomy, we obtained superior results especially in the cases of 1) uncertainty of clinically suspected appendicitis, 2) right lower quadrant pelvic pain without other pathology and 3) patients who wanted early return to work. In series of spontaneous pneumothorax with bullae and recurrent pneumothorax, the thoracoscopic bullectomy was much superior than open bullectomy. The laparoscopic Taylor procedures and laparoscopic bandlysis will be better choice in the management of intractable pain in duodenal ulcer and postoperative adhesion. The diagnostic laparoscopy will be much useful in the blunt and penetrating abdominal trauma.
