Effect of inlet temperature and ventilation on heat transfer rate and water content removal of red chilies

Mirmanto,Syahrul,Emmy Dyah Sulistyowati,I Dewa Ketut Okariawan,Rodian 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.3

Chilies are an important agricultural product that is becoming a potential product in Indonesia. Chilies need to be dried in order to be durable. A new drying method was investigated in this study using a simple radiator as a heating source of the heating room. The amount of heat that can be transferred depends on the tested parameters. One parameter is the water temperature. Therefore, our aim was to determine the effect of inlet temperature and ventilation on the heat transfer and water content removal. The temperature employed at the entrance of the radiator varied from 60 °C to 80 °C, while the water mass flow rate used was kept at approximately 12 g/s. The initial heating room temperature was around 30 °C. Agricultural products tested were red chilies with a water content of 86 % - 90 %. The results show that variation of water temperature affects the heat transfer rate and the water content removal, while the prevailing ventilation supports the heat transfer rate but decreases the water removal.

The risk associated with psychiatric disturbances in patients with diabetes in Indonesia (2018): a cross-sectional observational study

Siti Isfandari,Betty Roosihermiatie,Sulistyowati Tuminah,Laurentia Konadi Mihardja 질병관리본부 2023 Osong Public Health and Research Persptectives Vol.14 No.5

Objectives: The global prevalence of psychiatric disturbances is rising, detrimentally affecting the quality of care and treatment outcomes for individuals, particularly those with diabetes. This study investigated the association of risk factors for psychiatric disturbances among productive-age patients with diabetes (ages 30−59 years), considering sociodemographic characteristics and co-existing diseases. The risk factors considered included sociodemographic factors (e.g., residence, age, sex, marital status, education, and occupation) and co-existing diseases (e.g., hypertension, heart disease, stroke, renal failure, rheumatism, asthma, and cancer). Methods: This cross-sectional study utilized data from the 2018 Indonesian National Health Survey (Riskesdas). The study population comprised respondents aged between 30 and 59 years who had diabetes and had completed the 20-question self-reporting questionnaire (SRQ-20). After the exclusion of incomplete SRQ-20 data, the sample included 8,917 respondents. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: Approximately 18.29% of individuals with diabetes displayed symptoms indicative of psychiatric disturbances. After adjusting for sociodemographic factors such as age, sex, education level, occupation, marital status, and place of residence, patients with diabetes who had co-existing conditions such as hypertension, heart diseases, rheumatic disorders, asthma, or cancer had a higher risk for developing psychiatric disturbances than those with diabetes alone (adjusted odds ratio, 6.67; 95% confidence interval, 4.481−9.928; p<0.001). Conclusion: The elevated risk of psychiatric disturbances among patients with diabetes who had comorbidities underscores the importance of addressing mental health issues in the management of diabetes, especially in patients with concurrent disease conditions.

Occurrence of Tropical Race 4 of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense in Indonesia

        A. Wibowo,S. Subandiyah,C. Sumardiyono,L. Sulistyowati,P. Taylor,M. Fegan 한국식물병리학회 2011 Plant Pathology Journal Vol.27 No.3

Fusarium wilt of banana caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense is widespread in Indonesia. However, the distribution of tropical race 4 strains has not been well studied. Thirty nine isolates of F. oxysporum f. sp. cubense were collected from Java and 7 isolates were from Sumatera, Bangka, and Kalimantan. All isolates produced volatile odor when grown on steamed rice. These isolates were further tested for their vegetative compatibility with nitM testers of 20 reported vegetative compatibility groups representing strains that belong to race 1, 2, and 4. Three isolates formed heterokaryons with nitM testers belong to race 1, 11 isolates with race 4, and the rest did not form heterokaryons with all nitM testers used. F. oxysporum f. sp. cubense tropical race 4specific primer pair was used to amplify a 1400 bp fragment of tropical race 4 DNA. Seven isolates (Bnt2,Mln1, Srg1, Bgl3, Bgl6, Lmp1, and Kjg1) produced the 1400 bp amplification product were therefore tropical race 4.

Contingency Model to Increase the Uptake of Higher Education Graduates in the Job Market

TRISNANINGSIH, Sri,SUTRISNO, Sutrisno,PERMATASARI, Yani,HENDRA, Failasuf Herman,SULISTYOWATI, Erna Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.4

This study investigates graduate competencies that can improve the uptake of higher education graduate outcomes in the working environment in Indonesia. This research was conducted by collecting data through sending questionnaires directly by the research team, via courier, or via postal service to respondents. A survey with questionnaire is carried out on April 2019, and the data from 117 respondents was analyzed. The sample population was all private higher education in the area of the I-XIV Higher Education Service Institution in Indonesia. This study employs factor analysis and structural equation modelling. The results show that the Graduates' competencies had a significant direct effect on the uptake of higher education graduates in the job market. The indirect effect of a Diploma Supplement and networking as mediation has a level of influence that is higher than the direct effect of graduate competence on the uptake of higher education graduate outcomes in the job market. The findings suggest that the Diploma Supplement and networking can increase the uptake of higher education graduates in Indonesia as expected by stakeholders and be able to compete in the global or international scale of environmental working. The professionalism of lecturers has a significant influence on the quality of learning.

Green tea extract addition into a Tris-based egg yolk extender improves Bali bull sperm quality

        Prastiya Ragil Angga,Suprayogi Tri Wahyu,Debora Aldea Erian,Wijayanti Ani,Amalia Anny,Sulistyowati Deny,Nugroho Aras Prasetiyo 아세아·태평양축산학회 2023 Animal Bioscience Vol.36 No.2

Objective: The conservation of Bali bulls, the Indonesian native breed of cattle, is crucial for cattle breeding in Indonesia. To guarantee the spread of Bali bulls through artificial insemination the quality of the frozen semen must be high. To this end, adding an extender material to semen that increases spermatozoa’s survival during cryopreservation is important. Green tea extract (GTE) can be used as cryoprotectant because its high antioxidant activity can help avoid reactive oxygen species formation. Methods: Semen of five Bali bulls from the National Artificial Insemination Center at Singosari, Indonesia was collected routinely twice a week. First, fresh semen inspection was performed to determine the feasibility of using Bali bulls as animal samples. The extender used in this study was Tris-based egg yolk. The samples were divided into four treatments: T0, no GTE added to the extender; T1, 0.05 mg GTE plus 100 mL extender; T2, 0.10 mg GTE plus 100 mL extender; and T3, 0.15 mg GTE plus 100 mL extender. The semen freezing process was conducted according to standard procedures and sperm quality parameters, i.e., sperm motility, viability, abnormalities, and membrane integrity observed pre-freezing and post-thawing. Results: There were significant differences in total motility, progressive motility, viability, and integrity membrane of Bali bull sperm at both pre-freezing and post-thawing after adding GTE into the extender. In contrast, there were no differences in abnormalities among treatments. Conclusion: Adding GTE at a 0.15 mg into 100 mL Tris-based egg yolk extender can improve the quality of cryopreserved Bali bull sperm.
