Long-term outcomes in children with glioblastoma

<B>Object</B><P>Glioblastoma is the most common primary malignant brain tumor; however, glioblastoma in children is less common than in adults, and little is known about its clinical outcome in children. The authors evaluated the long-term outcome of glioblastoma in children.</P><B>Methods</B><P>Twenty-seven children were confirmed to have harbored a glioblastoma between 1985 and 2007. The clinical features and treatment outcomes were reviewed retrospectively. All patients underwent resection; complete resection was performed in 12 patients (44%), subtotal resection in 12 patients (44%), and biopsy in 3 patients (11%). Twenty-four patients (89%) had radiation therapy, and 14 (52%) patients received chemotherapy plus radiation therapy. Among the latter, 5 patients had radiation therapy concurrent with temozolomide chemotherapy. Four patients with small-size recurrent glioblastoma received stereotactic radiosurgery.</P><B>Results</B><P>The median overall survival (OS) was 43 months, and the median progression-free survival was 12 months. The OS rate was 67% at 1 year, 52% at 2 years, and 40% at 5 years. The median OS was significantly associated with tumor location (52 months for superficially located tumors vs 7 months for deeply located tumors; p = 0.017) and extent of removal (106 months for completely resected tumors vs 11 months for incompletely resected tumors; p < 0.0001).</P><B>Conclusions</B><P>The prognosis of glioblastoma is better in children than in adults. Radical resection followed by concurrent chemoradiation therapy may be the initial treatment of choice.</P>

As the importance of supervisor`s ethical leadership has been recently emphasized, this study aimed to verify if supervisor`s ethical leadership would arouse hotel employees` organ-izational citizenship behavior and also reduce their counterproductive work behavior. Moreover, it aimed to verify the influence of supervisor`s ethical leadership on trust in supervisor, organizational citizenship behavior, and counterproductive work behavior of hotel employees. The results of the analysis could be summarized like below. First, the ethical leadership had significant influence on organizational citizenship behavior and coun-terproductive work behavior. Second, the ethical leadership had significantly positive(+) influence on trust in supervisor. Third, the trust in supervisor showed significantly positive(+) influence on organizational citizenship behavior while it had no significantly negative(-) influence on counterproductive work behavior.

본 논문에서는 얇은 벽보로 모델링 한 위성체 구조물에 입사되는 열 하중에 의해 발생하는 굽힘 진동과 열적 플러터에 대하여 연구하였다. 복합재료 얇은 벽보는 회전관성과 1차, 2차 와핑, 전단변형의 비고전적 요소를 포함한다. CUS구조물로 모델링한 복합재료 얇은 벽보의 열 진동 특성은 적층 순서와 섬유강화복합재료의 방향특성인자로부터 기인된 종방향 굽힘과 횡방향 굽힘의 연성과 관련하여 연구되었다. 수치 해석적인 방법으로 열적 프러터의 안정성 영역의경계값을 구하였으며, 태양 열 플럭스의 입사각, 감쇠계수, 섬유각의 변화에 의한 보의 변위를 구하였다. 주 구조물에 압전소자를 부착하여, 감지기와 작동기로 사용하여 제어해석을 수행하였다. The bending vibration and thermal flutter instability of spacecraft booms modeled as circular thin-walled beams of closed cross-section and subjected to thermal radiation loading is investigated in this paper. The thin-walled beam model incorporates a number of nonclassical effects of transverse shear, primary and secondary warping, rotary inertia and anisotropy of constituent materials. Thermally induced vibration response characteristics of a composite thin walled beam exhibiting the circumferantially uniform system(CUS) configuration are exploited in connection with the structural flapwise bending-lagwise bending coupling resulting from directional properties of fiber reinforced composite materials and from ply stacking sequence. The numerical simulations display deflection time-history as a function of the ply-angle of fibers of the composite materials, damping factor, incident angle of solar heat flux, as well as the boundary of the thermal flutter instability domain. The adaptive control are provided by a system of piezoelectric devices whose sensing and actuating functions are combined and that are bonded or embedded into the host structure.
A High Speed and Low Power 4:1 Multiplexer Architecture for Graphic Memory Interface

This paper proposes the new 4:1 MUX architecture for high speed and low power graphic memory interface. The proposed architecture consists of one 4:2 MUX and one optimized 2:1 MUX. The 4:2 MUX is based on double 2:1 MUX. This proposed 4:1 MUX architecture eliminates the flip-flops in the conventional tree topology and also achieves 33% reduction of power consumption compared to the conventional tree topology, while this new 4:1 MUX shows 2X speed improvement compared to the conventional one stage architecture. The merits of both conventional architectures are simultaneously achieved with this optimized architecture. The simulation results show that 10Gb/s 4:1 MUX in proposed architecture consumes 10㎃ current at 1.8V supply voltage and has over 200㎷ eye opening. All simulations are performed with 0.18㎛ CMOS technology.
