Nano oxalates of Fe, Co, Ni: Burning rate modifiers for composite solid propellants

Supriya Singh,Gurdip Singh Virk,Pratibha Srivastava 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.27 No.-

We highlight here current research focused on the catalytic activity of nano oxalates of Fe, Co and Nisynthesized by colloidal precipitation method. The catalytic activity of these nano oxalates wasexamined for the thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate (AP) and composite solidpropellants (CSPs) using thermogravimetry (TG), TG coupled with differential scanning calorimetry (TG–DSC) and ignition delay measurements. All the nano oxalates showed very high activity as burning ratecatalysts for composite solid propellants (CSPs) containing hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)as binder and AP as oxidizer. CoC2O4 2H2O was found to be the best catalyst in terms of loweringdecomposition temperature of both AP and CSPs

Symbiotic Organisms Search Response to Distributed Database Queries

        Atinderpal Singh,Krishan Kumar,Rajinder Singh Virk,김혜진 사단법인 인문사회과학기술융합학회 2016 예술인문사회융합멀티미디어논문지 Vol.6 No.11

This paper has prime focus on the query optimization problem in distributed database environment. Query Processing is the major concept involved in distributed system. Data that is dispersed geographically at different locations is too gathered at resulting user site. There are many different execution actions that lead to same query result but differ in the cost incurred in query processing. We have to consider the execution strategy that yields optimal result. Communication cost is the major cost incurred when we talk about query processing in distributed system. Symbiotic Organisms Search Algorithm (Meta-heuristic) has been applied for query optimization in distributed environment. Result obtained using this meta-heuristic approach is compared with several optimization approaches. Results reveal the better performance of the algorithm for solving the hard problem of query processing in distributed database environment.

      • In Vitro Production of Indian Citrs Ringspot Virus-Free Plants of Kinnow Mandarin (Citrus nobilis Lour X C. deliciosa Tenora) by Ovule Culture

        Singh B.,Sharma S.,Rani G.,Zaidi A.A.,Hallan V.,Nagpal A.,Virk G.S. The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2005 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.7 No.4

Indian citrus ringspot virus (ICRSV)-free plants of Kinnow mandarin (Citrus nobilis Lour x C. deliciosa Tenora) were raised from virus-infected plants using unfertilised ovules as explants. Plants were tested by indirect ELISA and RT-PCR before using their explant. An amplified product of 539 bp was obtained by RT- PCR in ICRSV infected plants. Unfertilized ovules were excised from unopened flower buds of plants tested postive for virus and were cultured on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) basal medium supplemented with various concentrations of kinetin (KN) or malt extract (ME). Maximum induction (31.94%) of embryogenic callus was observed on MS medium supplemented with KN ($9.29\;{\mu}M$). Transfer of embryogenic calli to similar media composition resulted in somatic embryogenesis in all cultures, with an average number of 60.36 globular, 17.39 heart and 7.71 cotyledonary-shaped somatic embryos per culture. All cotyledonary shaped embryos developed into complete plantlets within 60 days on transfer to similar medium. Embryogenic callus induction, somatic embryo formation, maturation, germination and plantlet formation were achieved on MS medium supplemented with KN ($9.29\;{\mu}M$) alone. The plantlets derived from somatic embryos were transferred to sterilized soil, sand and vermiculite (3:1:1) mixture. After acclimatization, the plantlets were transferred to screen house and were indexed for ICRSV employing indirect ELISA and RT-PCR and found free of virus. A distinct feature of this study is the induction of somatic embryogenesis from unfertilised ovules to produce virus-free plants.

      • Somatic Embryogenesis in Withania somnifera (L.) Dunal

Rani, Gita,Virk, Gurdip Singh,Nagpal, Avinash The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2004 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.6 No.2

Somatic embryos were formed from calli obtained from axillary shoots (raised from nodal segments of glasshouse-grown plants under aseptic conditions), internodal segments (from in vitro-raised plants), and root and coty-ledonary leaf segments (from in vitro-raised seedlings) after 8 weeks of initial culture. Embryo formation was the highest (97.33%) from cotyledonary leaf callus on Mura-shige and Skoog's (MS) medium containing kinetin (KN) (3 mg/L). Somatic embryo induction was lesser with different combinations of auxins while it increased to 100% in internodal segment and cotyledonary leaf calli with 6-benzyladenine (BA) (2mg/L) along with 2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA) (2mg/L). The shoots were induced from somatic embryos raised from root, coty-ledonary leaf and internodal segment calli grown on MS medium containing BA in combination with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Maximum of 66.67% cultures formed shoots on MS medium containing BA (1mg/L) in combination with IAA (2mg/L). The shoots raised from somatic embryos were rooted on MS medium supplemented with indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) (2mg/L). The plantlets transferred to the field showed 70% survival rate after one year.

SELFCON: An Architecture for Self-Configuration of Networks

Boutaba, Raouf,Omari, Salima,Singh Virk, Ajay Pal The Korean Institute of Communications and Informa 2001 Journal of communications and networks Vol.3 No.4

Traditional configuration management involves complex labor-intensive processes performed by experts. The configuration tasks such as installing or reconfiguring a system, provisioning network services and allocating resources typically involve a large number of activities involving multiple network elements. The network elements may be associated with proprietary configuration management instrumentation and may also be spread across heterogeneous network domains thereby increasing the complexity of configuration management. This paper introduces an architecture for the self-configuration of networks (SELFCON). The proposed architecture involves a directory server, which is uses to maintain configuration information. The configuration information stared in the directory server is modeled using the standard DEN specification thereby allowing effective exchange of network, system and configuration management data among heterogeneous management domains. SELFCON associates configuration intelligence with the components of the network, rather than limit it to a centralized management station. The network elements are notified about related changes in configuration policies, based upon which, they perform self-configuration. SELFCON is able to provide automation of configuration management and also an effective unifying framework for enterprise management.
