      • 3D Unsteady Simulation of the Transport Characteristics in the LEC Melt of In-Doped GaAs

Shuxian Chen,Shilin Li,Xiaoming Tan 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.5

A three-dimensional and time-dependent turbulent mathematical model is established for the mass, heat, momentum and dopant transport in the LEC melt of In-doped GaAs. The Solution scheme for the dopant segregation effect at the melt/crystal interface is put forward. Grid testing calculations have been performed for the choice of the grid. The turbulent mathematical model and numerical methodology are used to simulate the melt convections and dopant transports in the previously published experiments, and the numerical accuracy is validated by comparing the results with the experimental data in different model setups. Some transport characteristics in the LEC melt of In-doped GaAs have been concluded. Owing to the interacting forces associated with different length scales in the LEC melt, the fluid flow is non-axisymmetric. Because of the competition between buoyancy, Marangoni force, centrifugal force and the Coriolis force, the temperature fluctuates in the melt. Due to the segregation, the InAs concentration increase in the axial direction.

Fabrication and Characterization of Multiple Herbal Extracts-loaded Nanofibrous Patches for Topical Treatment of Acne Vulgaris

        Ying Tang,Lei Liu,Jinju Han,Zhaolun Zhang,Shuyan Yang,Shuxian Li,Shuxian Li,Zhanhua Fan,Hua Zhao 한국섬유공학회 2021 Fibers and polymers Vol.22 No.2

Herbal extracts have recently received considerable interest in acne therapy owing to their enhanced skincompatibility compared with antibiotics and synthetic agents. In this study, electrospun poly (vinyl alcohol)/chitosan (PVA/CS) fibrous patch incorporating a combination of herbal extracts with complementary mechanisms of action was developedas an alternative acne therapy for patients with resistance to the conventional treatments. The herbal extracts-loadedelectrospun fibers displayed uniform and smooth-surfaced nanofibers (dia. 100-300 nm), high drug loading efficiency (89.5-97.7 %) and good water absorbing properties. Results of the in vitro release and antibacterial studies suggest the patches arecapable of sustained release of polyphenol-rich extracts, which may, together with the chitosan present in the fiber, endow thepatch with potent bacterial inhibition of Propionibacterium acnes. The herbal extracts-loaded patches exhibited pronouncedclinical therapeutic efficacy in treating mild-to-moderate facial acne by rapidly reducing inflamed lesions and restoringepidermal barrier. Also, the herbal patches demonstrated improved biocompatibility or tolerability in comparison with thesynthetic drug benzoyl peroxide. Overall, the present study has provided a facile approach to develop biocompatiblepolymers based electrospun fibrous patch for the efficient delivery of herbal extracts for topical skin therapy, opening newperspectives for a new generation of cosmetotextiles.

A New Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm for Inter-Cloud Service Composition

( Li Liu ),( Shuxian Gu ),( Dongmei Fu ),( Miao Zhang ),( Rajkumar Buyya ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.1

Service composition in the Inter-Cloud raises new challenges that are caused by the different Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of the users, which are served by different geo-distributed Cloud providers. This paper aims to explore how to select and compose such services while considering how to reach high efficiency on cost and response time, low network latency, and high reliability across multiple Cloud providers. A new hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm to perform the above task called LS-NSGA-II-DE is proposed, in which the differential evolution (DE) algorithm uses the adaptive mutation operator and crossover operator to replace the those of the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) to get the better convergence and diversity. At the same time, a Local Search (LS) method is performed for the Non-dominated solution set F{1} in each generation to improve the distribution of the F{1}. The simulation results show that our proposed algorithm performs well in terms of the solution distribution and convergence, and in addition, the optimality ability and scalability are better compared with those of the other algorithms.

      • Prediction of the compressive and tensile strength of HPC concrete with fly ash and micro-silica using hybrid algorithms

        Yin, Hang,Liu, Shuxian,Lu, Shasha,Nie, Wei,Jia, Baoxin 테크노프레스 2021 Advances in concrete construction Vol.12 No.4

Evaluating the impact of fly ash (FA) and micro-silica (MS) on the tensile (TS) and compressive strength (CS) of concrete in different ages provokes to find the effective parameters in predicting the CS and TS, which not only could be usable in the practical works but also is extensible in the future analysis. In this study, in order to evaluate the effective parameters in predicting the CS and TS of concrete containing admixtures and to present a fitted equation, the multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) method has been used, which could find a relationship between independent and dependent variables. Next, for optimizing the output equation, hybrid genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), and grey wolf optimization (GWO) methods have been utilized to find the optimal conclusions. It could be concluded that for both predictions of CS and TS, all models have the coefficient of determination (R2) larger than 0.949 and 0.9138, respectively. Furthermore, between three hybrid algorithms, MARS-PSO could be proposed as the best model to obtain the most accuracy in the prediction of CS and TS. The usage of hybrid MARS-PSO techniques causes a noticeable improvement in the prediction procedure.

Draft Genome Assembly and Annotation for Cutaneotrichosporon dermatis NICC30027, an Oleaginous Yeast Capable of Simultaneous Glucose and Xylose Assimilation

        Wang Laiyou,Guo Shuxian,Zeng Bo,Wang Shanshan,Chen Yan,Cheng Shuang,Liu Bingbing,Wang Chunyan,Wang Yu,Meng Qingshan 한국균학회 2022 Mycobiology Vol.50 No.1

The identification of oleaginous yeast species capable of simultaneously utilizing xylose and glucose as substrates to generate value-added biological products is an area of key eco- nomic interest. We have previously demonstrated that the Cutaneotrichosporon dermatis NICC30027 yeast strain is capable of simultaneously assimilating both xylose and glucose, resulting in considerable lipid accumulation. However, as no high-quality genome sequenc- ing data or associated annotations for this strain are available at present, it remains chal- lenging to study the metabolic mechanisms underlying this phenotype. Herein, we report a 39,305,439 bp draft genome assembly for C. dermatis NICC30027 comprised of 37 scaffolds, with 60.15% GC content. Within this genome, we identified 524 tRNAs, 142 sRNAs, 53 miRNAs, 28 snRNAs, and eight rRNA clusters. Moreover, repeat sequences totaling 1,032,129 bp in length were identified (2.63% of the genome), as were 14,238 unigenes that were 1,789.35 bp in length on average (64.82% of the genome). The NCBI non-redundant protein sequences (NR) database was employed to successfully annotate 11,795 of these unigenes, while 3,621 and 11,902 were annotated with the Swiss-Prot and TrEMBL databases, respectively. Unigenes were additionally subjected to pathway enrichment analyses using the Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), Cluster of Orthologous Groups of proteins (COG), Clusters of orthologous groups for eukaryotic com- plete genomes (KOG), and Non-supervised Orthologous Groups (eggNOG) databases. Together, these results provide a foundation for future studies aimed at clarifying the mech- anistic basis for the ability of C. dermatis NICC30027 to simultaneously utilize glucose and xylose to synthesize lipids.

A QEE-Oriented Fair Power Allocation for Two-tier Heterogeneous Networks

( Shiyu Ji ),( Liangrui Tang ),( Yanhua He ),( Shuxian Li ),( Shimo Du ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.5

In future wireless network, user experience and energy efficiency will play more and more important roles in the communication systems compared to their roles at present. Quality of experience (QoE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) become the widely used metrics. In this paper, we study a combinatorial problem of QoE and EE and investigate a fair power allocation in heterogeneous networks. We first design a new metric, QoE-aware EE (QEE) to reflect the relationship of QoE and energy. Then, the concept of Utopia QEE is introduced, which is defined as the achievable maximum QEE in ideal conditions, for each user. Finally, we transform the power allocation process to an optimization of ratio of QEE and Utopia QEE and use invasive weed optimization (IWO) algorithm to solve the optimization problem. Numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can get converged and efficiently improve the system energy efficiency and the QoE for each user.

Mechanical properties and neural network prediction of cement fly ash-enhanced roadbed soil in seasonal frozen zones under short-term curing

        Gao Hang Cui,Zhuo Cheng,Fanyue Sun,Shuxian Ma,Zhiqiang Liu 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.1

The freezing and thawing of roadbed soils in seasonal frozen zones can cause uneven settlement and other road problems, which puts road operation at risk. This paper focuses on the rapid construction of expressways and analyzes the effects of using fly ash and cement as modifiers on the physical properties and chemical composition of subgrade soil. The study found that cement admixtures can improve soil mechanical attributes and frost resistance, while also increasing the degree of fly ash hydration. And the freeze-thaw cycle process can enhance the mechanical characteristics of soils with higher cement admixture content. This is due to the development of hydrates in cement fly ash-enhanced soils during freeze?thaw cycles, resulting in a denser interior structure. The use of neural network prediction analysis showed that using ANN4-10-3 to forecast soil mechanical property parameters can produce superior results. Therefore, it is recommended to use cement fly ash-enhanced soil for roadbed construction in seasonal freezing areas, and neural network can be used to predict soil mechanical parameters.

Effect of Freeze-Thaw Cycles on Dynamic Characteristics of Undisturbed Silty Clay

        Gao Hang Cui,Zhuo Cheng,Daili Zhang,Shuxian Ma,Zhiqiang Liu 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.9

We conducted dynamic triaxial tests of undisturbed soil samples under different control parameters using the Global Digital Systems (GDS) dynamic triaxial instrument. We investigated the dynamic and engineering characteristics of undisturbed soil under a freeze–thaw cycle. When the dynamic load amplitude and the number of freeze–thaw cycles were adjusted, we explored the cumulative plastic strain, dynamic elastic modulus, and dynamic strength of undisturbed soil, and we then proposed appropriate fitting formulae to compute the cumulative plastic strain, dynamic elastic modulus, and dynamic strength. The findings revealed that as the number of freeze–thaw cycles increased, the cumulative plastic strain grew, the dynamic strength progressively fell, and the dynamic elastic modulus dropped first, but then increased. The critical physical and dynamic features of soil changed dramatically during one to six freeze–thaw cycles. This study’s suggested formula for the average growth ratio can directly reflect the cumulative plastic strain fluctuation of soil throughout freeze–thaw cycles. The formula has a good fitting effect on undisturbed soil, according to the test findings, and the accumulative plastic strain, dynamic elastic modulus, and dynamic strength may be computed within a specified range. The findings of this study contribute to a better understanding of the effect of the freeze–thaw cycle on the dynamic characteristics of undisturbed silty clay, as well as a theoretical foundation for the design and construction of silty clay highway subgrade in seasonally frozen regions as well as the dynamic analysis of vehicle simulation in seasonally frozen regions.

A Novel Anti-Microbial Peptide from Pseudomonas, REDLK Induced Growth Inhibition of Leishmania tarentolae Promastigote In Vitro

        Yanhui Yu,Panpan Zhao,Lili Cao,Pengtao Gong,Shuxian Yuan,Xinhua Yao,Yanbing Guo,Hang Dong,Weina Jiang 대한기생충학ㆍ열대의학회 2020 The Korean Journal of Parasitology Vol.58 No.2

Leishmaniasis is a prevalent cause of death and animal morbidity in underdeveloped countries of endemic area. However, there is few vaccine and effective drugs. Antimicrobial peptides are involved in the innate immune response in many organisms and are being developed as novel drugs against parasitic infections. In the present study, we synthesized a 5-amino acid peptide REDLK, which mutated the C-terminus of Pseudomonas exotoxin, to identify its effect on the Leishmania tarentolae. Promastigotes were incubated with different concentration of REDLK peptide, and the viability of parasite was assessed using MTT and Trypan blue dye. Morphologic damage of Leishmania was analyzed by light and electron microscopy. Cellular apoptosis was observed using the annexin V-FITC/PI apoptosis detection kit, mitochondrial membrane potential assay kit and flow cytometry. Our results showed that Leishmania tarentolae was susceptible to REDLK in a dose-dependent manner, disrupt the surface membrane integrity and caused parasite apoptosis. In our study, we demonstrated the leishmanicidal activity of an antimicrobial peptide REDLK from Pseudomonas aeruginosa against Leishmania tarentolae in vitro and present a foundation for further research of anti-leishmanial drugs.
