      • Scenario Seismic Landslide Hazard Assessment Using both Spectrum and Energy Compatible Artificial Acceleration Accelerograms at Slope Sites

        The northern slope of Tianshui area, Northwest of China, is a high-risk area for earthquake landslides with group of huge landslides. With the development of the economy, its seismic landslide hazard assessment under specific earthquake scenario is urgently needed. In order to bring suitable seismic inputs, an artificial synthetic accelerograms generation method is adopted. The acceleration response spectrum and Arias Intensity at bedrock are estimated through empirical attenuation relationships. Seismic effects of slope site are determined using microtremor observations. The artificial synthetic accelerograms are generated by the method proposed by Li et al. (2017), which introduce an energy compatible algorithm to the spectrum-compatible mode to match both the estimated response spectrum in the frequency domain and Arias Intensity in the time domain. The artificial acceleration time histories are then combined with the slope threshold accelerations to calculated cumulative displacements by double integration. Potentially unstable areas are identified based on the predicted Newmark displacements. The results can be utilized by local government for detailed risk evaluation, civil protection, and emergency plans, as well as for engineering design of critical structures.

        A Noisy Videos Background Subtraction Algorithm Based on Dictionary Learning

        Most background subtraction methods focus on dynamic and complex scenes without considering robustness against noise. This paper proposes a background subtraction algorithm based on dictionary learning and sparse coding for handling low light conditions. The proposed method formulates background modeling as the linear and sparse combination of atoms in the dictionary. The background subtraction is considered as the difference between sparse representations of the current frame and the background model. Assuming that the projection of the noise over the dictionary is irregular and random guarantees the adaptability of the approach in large noisy scenes. Experimental results divided in simulated large noise and realistic low light conditions show the promising robustness of the proposed approach compared with other competing methods.

        Shear resistance performance of low elastic polymer microspheres used for conformance control treatment

        Low elastic polymer microsphere (L-EPM) has been proposed as a functional polymer microsphere theseyears. L-EMP has the excellent deformation ability in the porous medium due to the low storage modulus. Herein, one kind of L-EPM with storage modulus (G0) of 23.6 Pa was prepared by inverse suspensionpolymerization. The shear resistance of L-EPM was researched by using coreflooding experiment andhigh shear rate emulsifier. The conformance control behavior of L-EPM was investigated by using doubleparallel sandpackflooding experiment. The results showed that L-EPM was a kind of swollen particle gelwith three-dimensional net structure and contained amide, carboxyl, and sulfonate groups. Themechanism of water swelling property was mainly due to the formation of hydrogen bonds, hydrolysis ofhydrophilic groups and the diffusion caused by osmotic pressure difference. Compared with high elasticpolymer microspheres (H-EPM) and low elastic preformed particle gel (L-PPG), L-EPM had better shearresistance in the porous medium and the well casing perforation. In addition, the critical shear points ofL-EPM was proposed in this work. Due to the better shear resistance and deformation ability, theconformance control behavior of L-EPM showed that L-EPM was a promising conformance control agentin the heterogeneous reservoirs.
