Damage Accumulation of a Base-isolated RCC Building under Mainshock-aftershock Seismic Sequences

        Chang-Hai Zhai,Zhi Zheng,Shuang Li,Xiaolan Pan 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.21 No.1

Strong aftershocks have the potential to induce greater structural damage for Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) structures. In order to ensure the safety and integrity of Reinforced Concrete Containment (RCC) buildings, the base isolation technique is proposed to reduce the effects of earthquake shaking on the building and avoid damage of the structure under earthquakes. However, none of the studies have focused on evaluating the seismic performance of RCC buildings with isolation for mainshock-aftershock seismic sequences. The aim of this paper is to thoroughly investigate the structural damage of RCC buildings with Lead Rubber Bearing (LRB) isolators under seismic sequences. A suite of twenty-eight artificial sequential ground motions is developed to investigate the influence of considering aftershocks on the performance of RCC buildings with isolators for both design-basis and beyond-designbasis earthquake shaking. The results reveal that strong aftershocks would induce greater damage for the RCC without isolators under beyond-design-basis earthquake. While, base isolation can protect the RCC building under seismic sequences being damaged even for beyond-design-basis earthquake shaking. The IDA results of base-isolated RCC demonstrate that isolators also increase the structural reserve capacity significantly under both mainshocks and seismic sequences.

Loss Analysis and Air-Cooled Design for a Cascaded Electrical Source Transmitter

        Kai-chang Xue,Shuang Wang,Jun Lin,Gang Li,Feng-dao Zhou 전력전자학회 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.2

Air-cooling method is adopted on the basis of the requirements for the thermal stability and convenient field use of an electrical source transmitter. The power losses of the transmitter are determined after calculating the losses of the alternating current (AC)?direct current (DC) power supply, the constant-current circuit, and the output circuit. According to the analysis of the characteristics of a heat sink with striped fins and a fan, the engineering calculation expression of the Nusselt number and the design process for air-cooled dissipation are proposed. Experimental results verify that the error between calculated and measured values of the transmitter losses is 12.2%, which meets the error design requirements of less than 25%. Steady-state average temperature rise of the heat sink of the AC?DC power supply is 22 °C, which meets the design requirements of a temperature rise between 20 °C and 40 °C. The transmitter has favorable thermal stability with 40 kW output power.

      • Inhibition of SMP30 Gene Expression Influences the Biological Characteristics of Human Hep G2 Cells

Zhang, Sheng-Chang,Liang, Ming-Kang,Huang, Guang-Lin,Jiang, Kui,Zhou, Su-Fang,Zhao, Shuang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.3

Senescence marker protein 30 (SMP30), a hepatocellular carcinoma (HCe) associated antigen had been identified by our research group. To study its mechanisms of regulation and associations with the occurrence and development of HCe, we inhibited expression by RNAi technique, and observed effects on the biological characteristics of Hep G2 cells. In cell viability assays, cell growth in the experimental group (with siRNA transfection) was elevated. In Transwell invasion assays, compared with blank and control groups, numbers of invading cells in the experimental group were significantly increased, whereas in apoptosis assays, the percentage apoptosis demonstrated no differences, but after UV irradiation, that in the experimental group was higher than the other two groups. In a word, SMP30 can inhibit the proliferation and invasion of human hepatoma cells and thus can be regarded as a cancer suppressive factor.

Predictive current controller and compensator‑based discrete current controller for single‑phase bridge inverters

        Jinghua Zhou,Shuang Xu,Riming Shao,Liuchen Chang 전력전자학회 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.9

Transfer efficiency and power quality are two critical factors when it comes to grid-connected distributed generation systems. Single-phase inverters are commonly used in distributed generation systems under 10 kilowatts as the connection between the gird and renewable energy sources (RESs). In this application, grid current distortion plays a pivotal role in determining inverter performance. In this article, an improved current control strategy based on a predictive current controller (PCC) and a compensator is presented to decrease current harmonic distortion and increase power quality. The controller design method inspects a single-phase inverter system as a digital platform, and designs the controller in discrete time in order to obtain a more precise and effective controller than that in continuous time. The discretization procedures using sampling and hold (S&H) are taken into consideration in the design process. The improved current controller is a DSP-based digital current controller for grid-connected single-phase bridge inverters, whose performance is optimized by considering the time delay caused by analog–digital conversion (ADC) and computations. A comparison has been made to analyze the performance of the single-phase grid-connected inverter system with PCC and ICC. Experimental results are shown to validate the effectiveness of the designed current controller.

Effects of raw meat and process procedure on Nε-carboxymethyllysine and Nε-carboxyethyl-lysine formation in meat products

        Ligang Yu,Chang Gao,Maomao Zeng,Zhiyong He,Linxiang Wang,Shuang Zhang,Jie Chen 한국식품과학회 2016 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.25 No.4

This work aimed to investigate the effects of stored raw meat and process procedures onNε-carboxymethyl-lysine (CML) and Nε-carboxyethyl-lysine (CEL) generation in meat products. Meatproducts of raw pork were sterilized and pasteurized at different storage times (0-4 months) and theCML/CEL contents were determined. The results showed that the extent of lipid and protein oxidationof raw pork increased with increasing storage time. A linear correlation was found betweenthiobarbituric acid-reactive substances value/carbonyl content and CML/CEL in sterilized meatproducts, indicating that stored raw pork could promote CML/CEL formation under high temperatureprocessing. Furthermore, mild heating temperatures seemed to favor CML formation, while hightemperature could accelerate CEL generation. Therefore, formation kinetics of CML and CEL might bedifferent for different process procedures. These results suggested that stored raw meat andprocessing temperature could significantly affect CML and CEL generation in meat products.

      • Expression and Significance of Twist and E-cadherin in Ovarian Cancer Tissues

Wang, Wen-Shuang,Yu, Shou-Li,Yang, Xing-Sheng,Chang, Shu-De,Hou, Jian-Qing Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Objective: To investigate the expression of Twist and E-cadherin in ovarian cancer tissues as well as the role of epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) in ovarian cancer metastasis. Method: The expressions of Twist and E-cadherin in 54 cases of ovarian cancer and paracancerous tissues were detected by Western blottin g and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. We used RNA interference to silence Twist expression in human ovarian cancer cell line, and detected E-cadherin expression using Western blotting. Results: There was an increase in the relative abundance of Twist proteins and a decrease in E-cadherin in ovarian cancer compared with normal ovary tissues (P < 0.05). The expression levels of Twist and E-cadherin mRNA were $1.49{\pm}0.53$ and $0.82{\pm}0.24$ in ovarian cancer, and $1.14{\pm}0.38$ and $1.08{\pm}0.19$ in paracancerous tissues, respectively. The difference between the indicators in ovarian cancer and in paracancerous tissues was statistically significant (P < 0.05). When the Twist expression was silenced in an ovarian cancer cell line, the expression of the E-cadherin protein increased (P<0.05). Conclusion: The expression of Twist is upregulated, whereas that of E-cadherin is downregulated in ovarian cancer. EMT, mediated by Twist, may be correlated with ovarian cancer metastasis.

Influence of Brittle Fracture of Shear Connectors on Flexural Behavior of Steel–Plate Concrete Composite Beams Under Cyclic Loading

        Bing Lu,Chang-Hai Zhai,Shuang Li,Duofa Ji,Xianbin Lu 한국강구조학회 2020 International Journal of Steel Structures Vol.20 No.5

The existing push-out test results showed that the ultimate shear capacities and ultimate slips of tie-bars and studs under cyclic loading were signifi cantly lower than those under monotonic loading, which could signifi cantly aff ect the seismic performance of steel–plate concrete composite (SC) structures. The fl exural behavior of two SC beams subjected to cyclic loading was investigated. Specimen SCB1 using tie-bars was partial shear connection, and specimen SCB2 using tie-bars and studs was full shear connection. The failure modes, hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, equivalent lateral stiff ness, energy dissipation, interfacial slip distribution, interfacial shear distributions, and strain in steel plates were researched. The experimental results show that two SC specimens were brittle failure, which primarily resulted from premature shear fracture of shear connectors at the interfaces between steel plate and concrete. Finally, two existing codes for SC structures were used to analyze the bending moment and shear of SC beams as well as interfacial shear of tie-bars and studs. This indicates that due to the diff erence of shear connection ratio between two specimens, the interfacial shear distributions of two SC beams were signifi cantly diff erent.
