      • 토마토 품종간의 오존 감수성 비교

        Seven cultivars of tomato were exposed to 0.15μL/L ozone for 20 hours to determine differences in sensitivity. Based upon the degree of foliar injury, the highest degree of sensitive cultivars were 'Daehyongboksu' and 'Goangsu'. Four cultivars, 'Goangmyong', 'Pungyoung' and 'Pinkglory' including 'Pinkforcer' were separated into intermediate sensitive group. 'Neabyongjangsu' was the least sensitive of the 7 tomato cultivars tested. The degrees of ethylene production and epinasty of leaves were relatively consistent with the differences of sensitivity to ozone. However, stomatal and trichome density, transpiration rate, and activities of peroxidase and superoxide dismutase were not clearly related to the ozone sensitivity of cultivars.

        Creutzfeldt-Jacob disease (CJD) is one of the fatal prion diseases. Diagnosis of CJD is mainly based on clinical symptomatology of established criteria, characteristic electroencephalogram, specific cerebrospinal fluid protein measurement, prion protein gene analysis, prion protein isoform detection, and neuropathology. But spongiform change of brain pathology is the only definitive diagnosis of CJD. Clinical symptomatology of CJD includes behavioral disturbances, progressive dementia, cerebellar, pyramidal, and extrapyramidal signs. Most patients show progressive myoclonic jerks that involve either limbs or the entire body. The approximate incidence of CJD is 1 per million and occurs as sporadic, familial and iatrogenic forms. Variant CJD has the strong possibility of cross species transmission between human and cow. It has some differences in clinical and pathological aspects from sporadic CJD. Protease resistant prion protein of scrape isoform may lead to diverse neuronal death in CJD. Recent advannces in CJD reveal that apoptosis, proinflammatory cytokine expression and oxidative stress may play an important role of CJD pathogenesis. There areseveral therapeutic trials in CJD but no therapeutic regimensshow effective results. Although there is much progression about CJD in recent days, a lot of things still remained to be reveled.

      • 지하수 중 자연방사성물질의 위해성 관리에 대한 고찰

        At present, the health risks associated with the natural radionuclides of ground water have become a concern as potential social problems. However, there are no regulatory actions or control strategies for such risks. Therefore, we have investigated and discussed the risks and associated management strategies for radionuclides in other countries. US EPA has proposed MCL (300 pCi/L) and AMCL (4,000 pCi/L) for radon, and 30 ppb for uranium, 15 pCi/L for gross-alpha and 5 pCi/L for radium as final MCLs. Also, Canada, WHO and European countries have their inherent management levels. Finally, we suggested several criteria for setting guidelines in our countries including exposure related criteria such as geological distribution, occurrence, exposure probability distribution, exposure population and multimedia exposure assessment, acceptable risk, and cost-benefit analysis. The national-scale exposure and risk assessment, and economic analysis should be conducted for producing and aggregating the representative information on these criteria.

      • Mo¨ssbauer Effect of the Lithium- and Cesium- nitrosylpentacyanoferrates(Ⅱ)

        We observed the 57Fe Mo¨ssbauer spectra and Fourier transformation infrared spectra & X-ray fluorescence spectra of lithium nitrosylpentacyanoferrates(Ⅱ) (Li₂[Fe(CN)5NO]·4H₂O, Li₂NP) and cesium nitrosylpentacyanoferrates(Ⅱ) (Cs₂[Fe(CN)5NO]·H₂O, Cs₂NP) samples which comprise nitrosylpentacyanoferrates(Ⅱ) anions with a Fe atom center. The Mo¨ssbauer parameters, values of isomer shift and quadrupole splitting have been measured at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature. Also the Mo¨ssbauer Lamb factors of all samples have been measured at room temperature. We have drawn the experimental line width of the Mo¨ssbauer lines normalized to natural line width Γn versus effective thickness of 57Fe.

      • Al₂O₃ TiO₂ 담체종류별 Pt, PtRu 촉매의 산화특성

        The volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been recognized as major contributor to air pollution. The catalytic oxidation is one of the most important processes for VOCs destruction clue to getting high efficiency at low temperature. In this study, mono metallic Pt and bimetallic Pt-Ru were supported to TiO₂ and γ-Al₂O₃. In order to distribute metals uniformly, Xylene, toluene and MEK were used as reactants. The mono metallic or bimetallic catalysts were prepared by the excess wetness impregnation method and were characterized by XRD, XPS, TEM and BET analysis. As a result, Pt-Ru bimetallic catalysts were showed higher conversion than Pt mono metallic catalyst. Pt-Ru bimetallic catalyst was showed highest conversion on the γ-Al₂O₃support. In the VOCs oxidation, Pt-Ru bimetallic catalyst had multi point active sites, so it improved the range of Pt metal state. Therefore, bimetallic catalysts were higher conversion of VOCs than mono metallic ones.

        장애,비장애인 휠체어 농구선수의 유산소 능력

        The purpose of this study was to analyzed the aerobic capacity of disability· able-bodied wheelchair basketball players. Cardiorespiratory parameters were measured during graded maximal exercise test. Exercise time, HRpeak, oxygen uptake(VO_2, L·min^-1, ml·min^-1·kg^-1), carbon dioxide production(VCO_2, L·min^-1), ventilation(L·min^-1) were examined in disability national elite male wheelchair basketball at letes(DA, N = 10), able-bodied wheelchair basketball athletes(AA, N = 10). All data were expressed in means and standard deviation. Exercise time, HRpeak, oxygen uptake, carbon dioxide production, ventilation were not different between groups. In conclusion, aerobic capacity of disability national elite male wheelchair basketball athletes is the same able-bodied wheelchair basketball athletes. These finding suggest that chronic wheelchair basketball training produce local adaptations in the functional upper body musculature.

        A C++ based computer program for the design of composite steel-concrete box girder by the LRFD method is developed. The program consists of a main program, a header program, and 16 function programs. The load analysis for live and dead loads is performed by using the influence line based on the 3-moment method. For the design of box girder, strength limit states, fatigue limit state, and service limit state are considered. In addition, the constructibility of the girder is also checked. The validity of the program is demonstrated by comparing the design result for 3-span continuous box girder by the present program with the one by hand-calculation.

        Flexural Strength of Composite HSB690 I-Girders in Negative Moment

        The fl exural behaviors of composite I-girders made of a high performance steel, HSB690, having a yield strength of 690 MPa in negative moment, were numerically investigated by applying an incremental ultimate strength analysis with material and geometrical nonlinearities. A total of twenty-nine example sections with various slenderness ratios of compression fl anges and webs were carefully selected such that they meet the requirements in Appendix A6 of AASHTO LRFD, except the fi rst requirement that the yield strength not exceed 485 MPa (70 ksi). Results of the numerical scheme adopted in this study were verifi ed by comparing the fl exural strengths computed by FEA to those of experimental results produced by other researchers. Numerical results for moment versus rotation curves, stress distributions, and failure modes were investigated and presented. The eff ects of initial imperfections, residual stresses, and mechanical properties of reinforcing steels on the ultimate fl exural behavior of the girders were also closely investigated. The applicability of the negative fl exural resistance equations in AASHTO LRFD for HSB690 composite I-girders was examined by comparison of the ultimate fl exural strengths obtained from the numerical analyses. It was found that the upper limit on the yield strength of 485 MPa as one of the three major prerequisites to using the Appendix A6 in AASHTO LRFD can be removed from the provisions. Therefore, the fl exural resistances of HSB690 girders in negative moment can be more effi ciently evaluated by utilizing the procedures in Appendix A6 of AASHTO LRFD than those of Article 6.10.8 in AASHTO.
